When Jason saw this, he couldn’t help but sigh… Way too many missions. He should finish the ones at the top. Building a Syndicate of people loyal to him was going to be much easier if he dealt with the fact that he needed some people who were loyal to him in the company he was working in.

It was time to get to work. That was what he thought as soon as he arrived at work. He got out of the car and entered the building.

The day dragged on, filled with meetings and paperwork. But Jason’s mind never stopped plotting. By the time the sun dipped below the horizon, he had the beginnings of a plan.

Okay, Mia… Let’s deal with you first.

Jason descended to the lobby, his footsteps echoing in the now-quiet building. Mia was at her desk, tidying up for the day. The tension between them lingered, unspoken but palpable as she turned to him and then turned away just as quickly. Jason saw an opportunity.

Since she was preoccupied with whatever she was doing, she would reply to him either with finality or with seriousness, and either way, Jason was going to make things happen.

"Heading out?" he asked casually, leaning against the desk.

Mia glanced at him, her expression guarded. "Yes, just wrapping up."

Jason hoped he could wrap up with her too. He stepped closer, lowering his voice. "Mia, we need to talk. Off the record." Jason then glanced around. "As you know… there are cameras everywhere."

She hesitated, her hands fidgeting with her purse strap. "Tallking? I… don’t think that’s a good idea. After all…"

Jason smiled, using a softer tone laced with curiosity. "Come on. Just a conversation. No strings attached. I promise I will keep my hands off you. And when I do, I know it might be a bit boring, but I’m sure you will appreciate it. So? What do you think?"

His phrasing subtly used the NLP technique of pacing and leading—starting with her hesitation and gently guiding her toward agreement. He even assumed her state of mind when he was done, naturally making it seem like everything was normal.

Mia bit her lip, her resolve wavering. "Okay…" she said, not even daring to look at Jason. "But not here."

Jason nodded, slipping her his number as he dropped her bag on the floor. "Oh my god! I’m so clumsy…" he said with a look of regret as she picked her stuff up, picking up the piece of paper and stuffing it in there behind the safety of her desk.

"Text me when you’re ready, okay?" Jason whispered cooly, winking at her, and then loudly saying, "Did you get everything? Or do you need help?"

"It’s fine, I’m okay…" she said, getting back up, exposing her body above the table again.

"That’s right, Jason… she’s fine. So why don’t you stop bothering her and go deal with your type… the ones at the kindergarten," said Tommy Carter, passing by with his goons, who also began jeering at Jason.

Jason didn’t even look at them. "Bye Mia…" he then left, turning the faces of all those people into something completely different.

After that, he left. He couldn’t afford to use the same tactics he had with Isabella. She was the one who stood to lose something here. But still for her to go that far… Jason needed to have a conversation with her.

But… he would not go to her to have it. No. Jason knew that she was curious about him, especially since she was talking about him to Veronica as well. It meant that she was probably always watching.

She must be watching this time too… And since she was watching, she would come over and see him.

Jason returned to his office, satisfied with his progress, only to find Samantha waiting for him. She sat in his chair, her legs crossed, exuding confidence.

Sitting in his chair… this woman was trying to get on his nerves. He was a shareholder of this company even if it hadn’t gone public yet. He was someone who deserved respect, and yet she was doing whatever she wished, walking all over him.

Jason made up his mind at that moment. He would teach her a lesson.

"Jason," she began, her voice dripping with mock concern. "Rough day?"

Rough day? No. It was very productive. He had already begun work. At this rate, if he worked every day, he would finish what he was doing within only 4 weeks. That was why he was not so bothered by this.

He smirked, closing the door behind him. "You could say that. Such a beautiful, curious, inquisitive, woman coming to MY office to sit on MY chair… To what do I owe the pleasure?"

Samantha chuckled, understanding what Jason was talking about, but she did not get off. Her sharp blue eyes studied him. "I couldn’t help but notice your… distractions. Mia, Veronica—quite the lineup. Don’t you think so, Jason Cross?"

Jason realised it again… She was way too interested in him. It was really annoying now. Why was she paying this much attention to him?

Jason’s expression remained neutral, but inside, his annoyance flared. "And you care because?"

Samantha leaned forward, her voice dropping to a whisper. "Because I like to keep an eye on the competition."

Jason chuckled, leaning against the desk. "Is that what I am to you? Competition?" He let the words hang, his tone teasing yet firm.

Samantha’s gaze didn’t waver. "Let’s just say I’m curious. You’re… an enigma, Jason."

Jason leaned closer, and the air between them charged. "Careful, Samantha. Curiosity killed the cat."

"And satisfaction brought it back," she countered, her lips curving into a smirk. Standing up slowly, and running her eyes up and down Jason’s face, she began walking out, exposing her glorious backside to Jason. "Plus besides… I’m not a pussy."

Jason watched her leave, inwardly shaking his head. She was so arrogant. How could he let her leave just like that?

Jason grabbed her arm, making her turn around to look at him with a worried expression. "Samantha, we’re not done here," Jason said with a soft tone, stepping towards her.

Samantha did not back off though, "Jason, I am not like your little receptionist. Do you think I don’t know you slipped her your number? What were you hiding from me? You can’t hide anything from me, Jason. I found everything out."

Jason chuckled. "I wasn’t hiding anything from you, I was sharing a secret with her. I was bringing some excitement to her life." Jason stepped closer to her and looked down at her face. "It seems you need the same thing in yours, otherwise why would you be pining after an enigma like me?"

Samantha stood there with a smirk on her face… "Is this what you think it is? You think I’m pining after you?"

Jason looked at Samantha, saying nothing… But the meaning was clear. You’re obsessed with me. I know it. You know it. We both know it.

"You tell me," Jason said, biting his lips seductively as he looked at hers, before looking back into her eyes. "I think you have some intentions for me. You want to see how useful I can be to you. And to get there you want to… lock me up. To do that, you are trying to either sabotage my relationships with the people around me or find out things about me."

Samantha stared into Jason’s eyes, letting him continue speaking. Jason spoke up. "I think you are not entirely sure about what I am. But you want me in our life. If I am going to be useful to you. I think you have something to say to me. And I think you are nothing special to me."

Samantha then smirked even brighter, stepping closer to Jason and putting her body against his. "And what if I told you’re right? What if I just want to see just how much value I can extract from you? Will that make you act any different?"

At that moment, with her mouth parted slightly and her eyes radiating want, any man would have felt beside himself with passion and want. But Jason knew… This woman was not serious. She was playing a big game. Funnily enough, he was too. He would see just how far this game was going to go.
