The Mightiest Little Master of Metaphysics-Chapter 1: The Master Descends the Mountain
Chapter 1 - 1: The Master Descends the Mountain
The summer heat was scorching, and waves of heat were surging.
The mountain road was jammed solid, and despite having the car's air conditioning on full blast, Yun Qiuce couldn't quell his growing frustration.
He kicked the front seat where the driver sat, his face full of impatience, "How much farther?"
The driver looked back helplessly, "Fourth Young Master, kicking me is useless, it's completely jammed up ahead. People from the Capital, seriously—why not stay home in this heat with the A/C, what are they running to the mountains for!"
Saying this, the driver stuck his head out.
What he saw startled him; all around were luxury cars, each brand emblem gleaming, the paint polished to a shine, and even the air seemed filled with the aura of overwhelming wealth.
The driver looked at his own car, thankfully he chose a good car for the trip; otherwise, he would have been embarrassed in front of the Capital's wealthy.
Even though the car wasn't his.
Bored, the driver couldn't help but start chatting.
"Fourth Young Master, how did we end up with this unpleasant task? Not that I'm complaining for myself, I'm concerned about you. If the young miss was to come home, I could have picked her up alone, there's no need to trouble you to make this trip."
Yun Qiuce tapped his foot in boredom, "I'm the only idle one at home, if not me, then who?"
The driver chuckled, lowering his voice mysteriously:
"Fourth Young Master, they say the young miss carries evil qi in her destiny chart that affects her parents, so Old Master sent her to Yuqing Temple to cleanse the evil qi off her, is that true?"
Yun Qiuce frowned, and kicked the driver's seat hard, "Looking to die, are you."
The driver, frightened, quickly raised his hands in surrender, "Oh, I'll stop, I'll stop. Young Master, don't get angry."
Only then did Yun Qiuce retract his foot, crossing his long legs casually as he sat.
He didn't have much affection for his little niece, after all, when the girl was sent to the mountains, she was just a one-year-old baby.
Four years had passed since then, and he had no idea what she had grown into.
The reason she was sent to Yuqing Temple a hundred miles away was because she harbored a heartbreaking story of the Yun Family.
Four years ago, his Third Brother's family of three had a car accident. The two adults died after unsuccessful resuscitation, leaving only a one-year-old girl unharmed.
According to the Xuan Sect members consulted, the girl had a unique destiny chart, carrying evil qi, which benefitted herself but harmed those close to her.
Having lost their beloved son, both the Old Master and the Old Madam fell ill. After discussing with the eldest brother and second sister, they decided to send her to Yuqing Temple, located between the Capital City and Hai City, to suppress the evil qi on her.
Four years had passed, and Taoist Wu You had written several times saying she was now no different from ordinary children, likely having had all the evil qi cleansed.
The Old Master was eager to bring her back, and the task of fetching her naturally fell to Yun Qiuce.
At the time of the accident four years ago, Yun Qiuce was still a delinquent teen skipping classes and getting into fights; everything about his little niece he only heard from others.
The Old Master asked him to pick her up, and he agreed without hesitation, thinking of it as a way to escape and find some peace.
Unexpectedly, they got stuck halfway on the road.
After quite some time, someone from Yuqing Temple came down to help direct traffic. The mountain path, jammed like an overloaded intestine, slowly began to move, and the luxury cars finally started driving up one by one.
The driver hurriedly started the car, creeping along like a turtle behind.
"Hey, sir, could you tell me something?" He leaned out, asking the driver in the car ahead, "Is today some important occasion? Why's everyone heading to the mountain in this heat?"
"Oh, you're from out of town," the driver opposite glanced at the license plate, "Master Xuan Kong from Yuqing Temple is coming down the mountain for a traveling retreat, and when he'll be back is uncertain, so everyone's rushing to see him off, maybe even catch a glimpse."

"Oh, is Master Xuan Kong really that amazing?" the driver asked with genuine curiosity.
The other driver scoffed, "What do you think? Otherwise, why would we climb up the mountain in this heat, to scramble for vegetarian meals!"
