The Mind-Reading Mate: Why Is the Lycan King So Obsessed With Me?!-Chapter 451: Blossoming Into Noctvaris’ Beloved Queen (I)
"Husband, have you chosen which soldiers will come with us later?" Primrose asked softly as she brushed the snowflakes from Edmund’s shoulders.
"Yes, I’ve chosen six soldiers." Edmund added before Primrose could question him. "Salem wants to come as well, so I gave him one of the soldiers’ spots."
Primrose sighed. "Husband, he can take my maid’s spot instead of a soldier’s."
She truly didn’t expect Salem to want to join the King’s banquet. Until now, he only seemed interested in the auction house or visiting the tavern, so Primrose never thought he wanted to mingle with nobles.
But after thinking about it again, maybe he did it because he would be the future Duke of Moonshadow. It made sense if he wanted to see the nobles’ world from up close, though Primrose was still sure he used to be a young master in the past.
"You need your maids to help tidy your gown and bring you food," Edmund reminded her. "If you only have one maid, I’m afraid you’ll struggle."
Primrose couldn’t help but smile, because he always put her first. "But six soldiers are still enough, right?"
Edmund nodded. "It’s more than enough. You don’t have to worry about your safety, my wife."
If her husband said she didn’t need to worry, then she truly didn’t need to worry about anything.
"Alright then." Primrose took Edmund’s hand and led him through the hallway. "Let’s sleep now, but first give me a kiss because I don’t think I can walk that far."
No, she wasn’t actually that weak. She could walk to their bedroom, but she also wanted the kiss.
Unexpectedly, Edmund suddenly lifted her up, carrying her in his arms. As he walked, he pressed several kisses onto her lips until his wife’s face turned completely red.
How could she not feel embarrassed?! There were still many maids and soldiers walking through the corridor, yet Edmund decided to carry her and kiss her lips over and over again.
But well, well... those kinds of things were still considered mild compared to what they had done in the bath pavilion last night.
"Stop it." Primrose placed a hand on Edmund’s lips so he couldn’t kiss her again. "These people have been gossiping about us all day. I don’t want to give them more things to talk about."
"Why? Isn’t it better if they know we love each other?" Edmund teased her with a smile. "That way, everyone will know my wife is the most pampered woman in Noctvaris."
Primrose puffed her cheeks and turned her face slightly away. "I’m not that pampered."
Edmund chuckled softly. "Maybe I should put you down now."
"Ah? Why?" Primrose stared at him in disbelief. "You can’t make me walk again after carrying me. That’s not allowed."
[Then I guess I must pamper you, my wife,] Edmund teased in his mind. [I’ll spoil you until you forget what hardship even means.]
"I-I still know hardship!"
Edmund kept teasing her as he walked through the hallway, while Primrose lightly smacked his chest several times whenever he annoyed her.
Who knew that their gentle teasing would become the very reason the maids and guards in the Duke’s manor realized they were the most adorable couple they had ever seen, and even healthier than any noble couple in the entire Vellmoria Empire.
[I hope their love lasts forever,] everyone thought at the same time.

On the following day, Primrose started getting ready early in the morning. She bathed again with milk and pearl powder, then got dressed from one in the afternoon until the sun was almost gone.
Marielle placed the tiara on her head, on top of her red hair that had been braided and pulled into a bun. Primrose held her breath when she saw her reflection in the mirror—because now, she truly looked like her late mother.
She didn’t know her mother’s face for sure, but based on the paintings in the hallway, they really did look alike. Not exactly the same, but if they stood side by side, people would probably think they were twins.
It really seemed like Lazarus loved his wife so much that his own genes didn’t even bother to leave a mark on their daughter.
"Your Majesty... you look really beautiful," Marielle said softly, her eyes full of admiration as she watched Primrose through the mirror.
Primrose had never attended any noble banquet in Noctvaris before—her royal tea party didn’t count since she was the host—so it was normal that Marielle had never seen her dressed with full royal accessories like this.
The ruby gown fit her perfectly, and because the skirt was wide and flowing, Primrose didn’t have to worry about people noticing her small baby bump.
Her makeup and hair made her look a little more mature, but in a very elegant way. With this look, she really did seem like the true mother of her kingdom, someone who would stand up for the beasts whenever humans tried to insult them.
"My Lad—Your Majesty! I’m so proud of you." The human maids couldn’t bring themselves to call her "My Lady" anymore, not when Primrose looked like a proper Queen of Noctvaris. "I never thought you would grow this fast."
Primrose laughed softly. "Goodness, I’m not that old!"
She would be even prouder of herself if she could live past twenty-five, the age when she died in the past.
"Just one last touch, Your Majesty." The maid sprayed a flowery perfume on her, giving Primrose a sweet scent that lingered even from far away.
After preparing herself for the banquet, Primrose finally left the room, feeling excited to show Edmund the result of her whole-day makeover.
Yes, she had forbidden Edmund from seeing her because she wanted to surprise him. She even gave him her wedding ring so he wouldn’t be able to peek at her at all.
However, instead of being the one who surprised her husband, Primrose became the one who was shocked when she saw Edmund.
Her husband was so HANDSOME!!
