The Overnight Chosen Wife: darling, kiss me deeper-Chapter 586: Skilled
Chapter 586: Skilled
She warmed some food up and settled in the studio, painting to keep her mind everything. She had pretty much finished Xiehan’s painting and there was little left when he finally called. Since he was calling and not ringing the doorbell or pulling out into the garage, she figured that he would need to stay in the company for longer.
"Did you have something to eat?" Was the first thing she asked when she answered the call.
He certainly didn’t expect it. He laughed. "Why would you ask that?"
"I guess you are going to be busy for the rest of the day. I should have made you carry some food." She slapped her forehead, and he laughed harder on the other side.
"Don’t laugh. Order some food. Make sure to drink some water too."
"Yes mommy. I’ll also make sure to eat my fruits and vitamin pill."
She rolled her eyes. He was making fun of her. She would punish him for it upon his return.
"I asked Luna to come and accompany you." He finally got serious. "She has to attend a meeting in the morning but when she does, she will leave Mumu with you to keep you company."
"That’s awesome!" She was relieved to have her sister over.
"It might take longer than I thought." He dropped the bummer. "If you miss me too much, you can give me a call."
She smiled but knew that she would be distracting him if she kept calling simply because she missed him. "I’ll wait for you." She whispered into the call and looked at the painting before her. She should have it ready before his return. He would be amazed to see how handsome he looked while swimming.
He wanted to speak for a little longer but someone called him on the other side.
"You should get back to work." She urged.
He reluctantly ended the call and got back to business.
"Sir, we ran a check on all the employees who have been in contact with this information. None of them knows enough details to leak them." His secretary reported.
A company’s project had been leaked to their competitors, who wasted no time announcing it and putting it into motion as their own.
He ran a hand through his hair in frustration. "I don’t want to suspect any of my employees either but if none of you leaked it, then does LX Corporation have magical employees? Did they ride brooms into the company and hex all of you to forget you saw them after taking the information they wanted?"
The secretary was exasperated. "I think the computers were hacked."
He had already checked and there was no trace. Unless the hacker was skilled enough to erase all traces of themselves, there was no way this was done by hacking. Someone might have simply copied the information from an executive employee’s computer.
"Sir..."
"Keep searching." He ordered. "Make sure you know everything the employees did recently. That includes how many trips they made to the bathroom."
He watched his secretary’s face redden and held back a scoff. Clearly, she was the wrong person to put on this job if she was that flustered. Hell knew the kind of things that went on behind bathroom closed doors and one of them was exchanging such sneaky information since that was the only place with no surveillance.
The thought of surveillance made him narrow his eyes. How come the culprit was not caught on any of the surveillance cameras?
He accessed the footage on his computer, playing each footage carefully. There had to be an inconsistency.

Meanwhile, Luna arrived with Xiaomu in tow and Lanni threw her arms around them in a hug. Then she held Xiaomu and kissed her cheek. "Hey, where did you ditch your brother?"
"Brother?" Xiaomu tilted her head in askance, making Lanni chuckle.
"Linhou would rather let himself get vacuumed than leave his grandmother’s side these days."
The two shared a hearty laugh. Linhou was terrified of vacuum cleaners and would rush to the nearest adult for protection as soon as it was turned on. When he learnt that turning it off was easy and all he needed to do was flick the switch on the wall, he would press it with as much strength as his small hands could muster. Cleaning was no longer easy with him around. On the other hand, Xiaomu loved vacuum cleaners and wouldn’t mind playing with them if only the adults would let her. She would always burst into tears when it stopped.
"Mother-in-law spends most of her free time making snacks." Luna explained her son’s reason for staying glued to his grandmother, which just happened to be the very reason why Xiaomu couldn’t wait to get away from her. The twins were so different that it would be concerning if she hadn’t known that it was a huge possibility. One was noisy and would yell at the slightest provocation while the other only cried when he was hungry or sleepy.
Lanni embraced her niece lovingly. "She is prettier than I remember."
"She takes after her mom." Luna bragged with her nose in the air, making Lanni roll her eyes.
"You are so full of yourself." She led them into the house and tuned to Xiaomu’s favorite kids show on the television.
While the girl was glued to the screen, Luna couldn’t help raising her concern. "Xiehan thinks someone hacked into one of the executive employees’ computers at Feng Ji International."
"How is that possible?" She was baffled. The security was not to be trifled with and the last time she remembered, it was nearly impossible to breach the firewalls.
"That’s a possibility. It’s minor but it’s one. The only other possibility is that someone physically stole the information and kept their tracks hidden."
That sounded more humanly possible but it was still insanely difficult.
"I thought all these attacks were over. What do they want now?" Lanni was distressed.
"I would know and probably help if brother-in-law let me." Luna sighed. Xiehan had only explained the situation to convince her to go over and keep Lanni company but had rejected her help, because apparently, it was too much for her to handle.
"But right now, they need all the help they can find." Lanni was on the verge of whipping out her phone and talking some sense into her husband.
"Xingyu and Lin Jian sent their teams over to help from what I know. I don’t know much. Xingyu is too busy to talk too." She placed a hand on Lanni’s.
"They think I’m made of glass."
"You aren’t." Lanni took a breath. "No matter how good that person is at hacking, there is no way you and Xiehan can’t outdo them."
"That’s what I needed." Luna winked. "Tomorrow morning, I’m showing up at Feng Ji International with my skills in tow. Could you help me watch Mumu?"
"Of course."
She thought Luna was joking but sure enough, she left for Feng Ji International the next morning.
Lanni held the little girl when she woke up. She was distressed when she couldn’t find her mother, so Lanni offered her a teddy. "Mommy will be back soon. How about we go for a walk first?"
Xiaomu led the way, making Lanni smile. She couldn’t wait to go out.
"Aunty, Aunty, hurry up." She called out in her adorable voice.
