Chapter 670 - Soul Points

Han Wu carefully inspected his status in the Soul Kingdom and concluded that he had left his physical body behind for his soul form, or rather, his Divine Soul form.

His Divine Soul was tougher and more exquisite than normal souls, and his comparatively high durability meant his soul wouldn’t shatter with a single touch like other souls, making it far less fragile.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t use any of his powerful Taijutsu in this form. He was limited to only his Ninjutsu and Genjutsu. Fortunately, despite losing the two Giant Sages in his body as energy sources, he could still use the natural energy in the air for his Sage Jutsu. This meant he could at least still protect himself.

After confirming his strength, he focused on the thin thread of faith connecting him to Jing Jing. He knew that it was her, as none of his other believers were in this region. In other words, as long as he followed it, he could locate Jing Jing and Qin Shuang.

Han Wu rushed toward the end of the thread with renewed motivation. Along the way, he saw many souls fighting each other. He noted that those engaged in combat looked more solid, while the weaker ones appeared almost invisible, as if on the verge of dissipating.

That was when a large soul noticed Han Wu. The unique glow of Han Wu’s Divine Soul was basically a beacon of its rarity, and a rare soul was inherently more valuable.

The temptation of a valuable soul incited the large soul to bring his lackeys and approach Han Wu. Fixated on finding Jing Jing and Qin Shuang as quickly as possible, Han Wu naturally didn’t want unnecessary trouble, so he avoided them.

Seeing this only confirmed to the large soul that Han Wu was easy prey.

“You think you could hide? Where can you hide?” taunted the soul, encircling Han Wu with his lackeys.

“Get lost.”

“Oh? You’re feisty, that’s for sure. I’m a special Master of the Lightning Howl Village, and I’m adept at lightning jutsu. Do you know what’ll happen to you if you keep up that impudence?” he threatened.

Han Wu sighed. “What do you want?”

“I want your soul points, idiot. Here, soul points are life. Having more equates to being wealthier, and it seems you’re very rich indeed. Give me half your soul points, and I’ll let you go. If not, we can just kill you, but we would lose more than 90% of your soul points in the process.”

Half of the total soul points was the largest transaction allowed in the Soul Kingdom. It was a rule intended to protect the weaker souls. Nevertheless, the threat did little to intimidate Han Wu, and he just stood there in silent judgment.

“Oi, our leader is talking to you. Are you dumb?” A smaller lackey shoved Han Wu in an attempt to suck up to his boss.

Han Wu dispersed the lackey’s soul with a single slap and obtained two soul points in the process, bringing him to a total of 489.

Furious, the large soul activated his signature B-rated Ninjutsu, Lightning Style: Lightning Strike. “How dare you kill my lackey. Die!”

When the larger soul used his hand seals, his body became slightly transparent. Though the change was subtle, Han Wu could still sense that something fundamental had shifted. It seemed using Ninjutsu here required one to exhaust their own soul points.

Purple lightning crackled on the palms of the large soul as he smiled meanly. “Are you afraid now? Too late! Die.”

Powerful lightning surged toward Han Wu. Simply angling his body slightly to the side allowed Han Wu to avoid it with ease. His Divine Soul could move exceptionally fast in the Soul Kingdom, but wanting to test what it felt like to be attacked here, he tentatively extended a finger to touch the lightning.

The lightning shocked Han Wu and charred his soul. The finger that he used to touch the lightning was gone, but Han Wu retained his consciousness.

As he stared at his missing finger, a strange sensation guided him to use his soul points to restore it. 3 soul points later, his finger had regrown. He then noticed that he had actually lost a total of 8 points from that lightning attack. It had taken 3 points to restore his finger, and 5 to heal his Divine Soul.

The large soul laughed wickedly. “Are you afraid yet? Give me your soul points and don’t force me to attack again!”

Having learned the information he needed, Han Wu no longer stayed still. He swiftly completed the hand seals for his Sage Jutsu, Water Style: Black Water Clone.

A clone that looked identical to him appeared and relentlessly attacked the lackeys. It seemed that the corrosive properties of black water were enhanced in the Soul Kingdom. Those who came in contact with the black water shrieked in pain as if burned by sulfuric acid, and their souls were significantly damaged.

Han Wu tore some lackeys apart with his bare hands to restore his soul points. Meanwhile, the black water clone followed his command to take down the large soul.

“Wait, I give up. Please let me go,” the large soul begged, realizing he had antagonized a foe he couldn’t win against.

Unfortunately for him, Han Wu wasn’t one to forgive so easily.

“Give me half your soul points, and I’ll let you go,” Han Wu said, repeating the large soul’s own words back to him.

The large soul wanted to live, so he hastily agreed. Transferring soul points required physical contact. Han Wu’s fist touched the large soul, and half his soul points were transferred to Han Wu.

Gaining 30 soul points felt as though it had strengthened his Divine Soul. Han Wu mulled this over. What would happen if he collected more?

Han Wu peered over at where the lackeys were silently kneeling on the ground, hoping to avoid Han Wu’s notice.

“Give me half of your soul points,” Han Wu demanded. “Don’t make me go over there!”

The scared lackeys immediately gave them half of their soul points. They couldn’t defeat him, so they had no choice but to obey. Basically, the rule of the jungle applied here.

After absorbing their soul points, Han Wu grew stronger, and the thread connecting him to Jing Jing solidified as well.

At that moment, he heard a voice.

“God, is that you?” Jing Jing asked.

“Yes, I’m here.”

“God, come quick. We have trouble.”
