The Pregnant Treasured Little Wife: Master Lancaster's Nightly Coaxing-Chapter 151: Time Bomb
All day long, Elias Lancaster stayed at home with Serena Keaton.
Serena could clearly feel that Elias had something on his mind.
When they were about to rest at night, she looked at him, "Go ahead and get busy tomorrow. I also have to focus on my studies and work. You don’t need to stay with me."
Elias glanced at her, "I want to spend more time with you."
"We have plenty of time in the future to be together. For now, focus on your career."
Serena wanted to make herself seem more understanding and empathetic.
She didn’t want to hinder his work.
She didn’t want to come across as childish.
After all, staying with her, he seemed absent-minded anyway. It might be better for him to get busy with work.
"That’s something for later."
Elias lifted the quilt, got into bed, and pulled her into his arms.
"Sleep now, I’ll make time to be with you."
"Okay."
The two fell asleep in an embrace.
With Elias by her side, Serena quickly fell asleep.
But Elias could not sleep.
Every time he closed his eyes, he thought about that thing.
He couldn’t fall asleep.
He looked at the light from the lamp by the bed, calming himself to think about what happened that day.
He was so drunk that he couldn’t remember anything or differentiate people; could he even have done such a thing?
Besides, apart from his loved ones, he should resist when other women got close to him.
And that morning when he woke up, Willow Scott started crying, he threw a check at her, and immediately left.
That day she showed up, claimed to be pregnant, and it’s the same. The moment she mentioned securing her future, she immediately calmed down.
People who can work in Norris Gardens should at least know about him, Elias Lancaster, right?
There’s only one possibility, Willow Scott is setting him up.
So young, yet so scheming.
With a clear mind, Elias found it even harder to sleep.
Seeing the person in his arms sleeping sweetly, he gently withdrew his hand, covered her with the quilt, and quietly got out of bed, leaving the room.
He went to the study room and dialed Quentin Shaw’s number.
In the middle of the night, Quentin Shaw groggily opened his eyes, and when he saw it was his boss calling, he didn’t dare delay.
"President."
"Which hospital did you go to today?"
Quentin Shaw replied, "We were originally going to the hospital under The Lynch Corporation, but she said she was afraid of seeing classmates, so I took her to a private hospital."
"Is the doctor who did the examination with us, or someone we know?"
"Not someone with us, nor someone we know."
Elias Lancaster was silent for a while, "Check on that doctor tomorrow, and also find out when we can do a paternity test."
Quentin Shaw couldn’t help but ask, "President, you and her..."
"Understand what to ask and what not to ask."
Elias coldly interrupted him.
Quentin Shaw immediately fell silent, "Understood, I have a feeling this woman is not simple. I’m afraid you are being set up."
He knew his president well.
Someone who cared more about his young wife than his own life.
How could he possibly cheat?
Not to mention, the woman involved is obviously scheming.
"That’s why you need to find out everything. Don’t miss any clues, investigate who she’s been in contact with lately, where she’s been, everything."
"Understood."
"Also, don’t alert them, and don’t send the investigation results..."
"Elias..."
Before Elias could finish his instructions, the door to the study was pushed open, and Serena stood there groggy.
She wasn’t even wearing slippers, her eyes still sleepy.
He quickly hung up the phone and stepped forward, "Baby, what’s wrong?"
Serena looked at him, feeling aggrieved, "Why did you come out again? Do you not want to sleep with me? Even at this hour, you’re on the phone. Do you have someone else outside?"
She had a nightmare and woke up startled, discovering he wasn’t next to her, scaring her into immediately getting up from bed.
She didn’t expect he would be in the study calling someone.
It’s past one in the morning, who could he be talking to?
Could it be that woman outside looking for him?
The more she thought about it, the more uneasy Serena felt, surrounded by a strong sense of fear.
"Baby, there’s no one else. Look, I was just giving Quentin instructions for work. I want to be home with you tomorrow, so I’m arranging my work with him."
As he spoke, Elias handed her the phone to check the call records herself.
Serena glanced at it, and indeed, it was Quentin’s number, which made her sigh in relief.
"There’s really no one else?" she murmured softly.
Elias sighed, picked her up, kissed her forehead, "Baby, don’t overthink it. I want to spend my whole life only with you."
Elias brought her back to the bedroom, laid her on the bed, leaned over to kiss her, and soothed her in his arms.
No matter how much she tried, Serena just couldn’t fall asleep, the sense of unease growing stronger, "Can I check your phone?"
Elias asked, "What do you want to check?"
"I just want to have a look."
She had a feeling his unusual behavior wasn’t so simple.
If she didn’t check, she’d be restless.
Elias handed his phone to her without hesitation.
With a relaxed expression.
His dealings with Willow Scott were never discussed over the phone.
Besides, apart from that incident, he hadn’t done anything to betray his beloved.
Seeing Serena’s relief after checking, he could tell.
But when she checked his WeChat, she saw Willow Scott’s contact.
Her heart tightened, "When did you add Willow Scott?"
Elias explained, "It was when she was working in the kitchen, making snacks for you. I added her to share your preferences."
"Can you delete it?"
"Of course."
Elias let her delete it immediately.
But before she could delete it, a message popped up in the chat.
Serena only saw the words [Are you asleep?]
The next second.
The phone was taken from her hands by Elias.
He stood up with the phone.
"Baby, sleep first. I haven’t finished giving Quentin instructions."
With that, he turned to leave.
Serena’s voice came out.
"Which former employee sends texts to their previous employer in the middle of the night? Give me the phone."
Elias paused, quickly deleting the message that just popped up in the chat.
Serena saw him operating the phone, angered, "Elias Lancaster, give me the phone."
Elias blocked Willow Scott’s number, then handed the phone back to Serena.
When Serena got the phone again, she wanted to find the WeChat message she had just seen.
But no matter how she searched, it was gone.
Her eyes filled with tears from anger, glaring at Elias, "You deleted the message. Elias Lancaster, I told you before, if you have someone you like, just tell me and I’ll leave."
