Chapter 81: 081 She was never one of the guys (second update)

Li Xianyun’s original goal was the West Market, and the East Market was just a stepping stone.

She took a group of people around the West Market for a tour, getting a good grip on the layout and the spots where there were more customers.

Li Xianyun planned to dine in a restaurant that looked very imposing.

The restaurant had three floors; its high gateway was grand, and on its black, wide signboard, the words "Auspicious Pavilion" were written in Khitan script, gilded in large, golden characters.

It seemed that the Khitan and the Houtang were alike in this respect, both fond of using auspicious words like ’auspicious’ and ’prosperity’ in their names.

The restaurant was booming with business, and there were lots of customers coming and going, most of whom were of high status and position.

There were a total of four doormen at the entrance, while other establishments had only one or two.

Having four doormen to greet customers was indeed unique.

This restaurant was certainly flaunting its wealth.

Seeing Li Xianyun, who had an extraordinary demeanor and was clad in opulence, the proprietor, who was greeting customers at the door, thought he’d encountered a fat sheep.

A smile instantly piled up on his rotund face as he hurried over.

"Dear guest, please come inside. Would you like me to arrange a private room upstairs for you?" the restaurant owner said with a smile.

His eyes were almost squinting with mirth.

Li Xianyun responded, "No need, just find us a clean table in the main hall downstairs."

Upon hearing this, the owner thought to himself that she was just trying to appear more affluent than she was.

Dressed up to look dignified, but without much silver in her pocket.

His enthusiasm cooled instantly, and with a stern face, he called to a waiter, "You take care of them."

Saying this, the owner went off to attend to the more reputable and dignified patrons.

Zhuo Ma couldn’t suppress her anger and muttered under her breath, "Judging a book by its cover."

Li Xianyun said with a smile, "There’s no need to get angry over such people."

Bater and Zhuo Ma, looking at the calm and composed Li Xianyun, couldn’t help feeling that the princess seemed to have experienced a lot.

The waiter led the four to a table by the window, and another brought over tea and pastries, asking politely, "Honored guests, what would you like to eat?"

Li Xianyun said, "Bring us six of your restaurant’s signature dishes, along with some staple foods."

The waiter glanced around and, noticing that no one from the restaurant was nearby, said in a low voice, "Guests, our restaurant serves generous portions; four of you should be quite satisfied with just four signature dishes."

Li Xianyun looked up at the waiter.

He appeared to be in his early twenties, with thick eyebrows and big eyes, giving off the impression of being simple and honest.

Other restaurateurs would relish customers ordering more, eager to make extra money without caring whether the customers could finish the food or not.

But this waiter was considerate of the customers, quite unlike others in the restaurant, which couldn’t help but raise one’s opinion of him.

Li Xianyun softly said, "Thank you," and then followed up, "In that case, we’ll have four signature dishes."

"Alright," the waiter said, "For the main course, we have nang bread, roasted buns, laghman, and pilaf. What would you like?"

The variety of main dishes in Khitan wasn’t much, and this restaurant seemed to offer quite a selection.

Li Xianyun consulted with the others and ordered four bowls of laghman.

Although the owner was snobbish, the restaurant’s serving speed was commendable; the food was served quickly.

Just as the waiter had mentioned, the plates were large and the portions generous. They certainly wouldn’t have finished if they had ordered six dishes.

The food tasted quite good; no wonder it attracted so many customers.

While the four were conversing and eating, they suddenly heard the loud sound of crockery crashing to the ground, followed by an uproar from the crowd.

Li Xianyun looked in the direction of the noise and saw a person convulsing on the ground, while the people around were holding their noses and keeping their distance.

It appeared someone had fallen ill.

The owner, holding his nose and with a look of disgust on his face, said, "Such bad luck, if he’s going to die, he should do it outside."

He then harshly addressed the waiters, "What are you fools standing around for?! Get him out of here at once!"

The waiters were about to step forward upon hearing those words.

"Stop!"

A cold, abrupt voice came through.

Everybody turned their heads, only to see a young man clad in splendid attire, with strikingly handsome features, quickly approaching.

Li Xianyun looked at the restaurant owner and said coldly, "Don’t touch him, you’ll kill him."

The restaurant owner said, "It’s his own illness that’s acting up, it has nothing to do with me..."

Li Xianyun glared at him, and said sharply, "You can shut up now!"

The restaurant owner was so intimidated by that stern gaze that he immediately closed his mouth.

The surrounding people looked at Li Xianyun in astonishment.

This good-looking young lad appeared soft and delicate, but no one expected his words to be so sharp.

At this moment, two young men descended from the second floor. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com

One of them was exceptionally handsome, with eyebrows like swords and eyes like stars, a broad back, and a distinguished appearance.

The man next to him looked far less impressive.

The good-looking man followed the sound and fixed his gaze on Li Xianyun.

This woman is quite interesting.

Having seen countless women, he could tell at a glance that Li Xianyun was a woman.

Seeing that he had stopped, the man beside him also paused on the stairs to look downwards.

Li Xianyun pushed through the crowd and immediately saw the kindly waiter from before lying on the ground, foaming at the mouth, eyes rolling back, his body trembling and twitching uncontrollably.

It was a seizure.

Li Xianyun squatted down and said to Bater and his group, "Clear the things on the side to make some space, have the people around move back to let the air get through."

Zhuo Ma and Youlan tidied up the clutter while Bater had the onlookers back away.

Bater was tall and muscular, a sight that naturally inspired fear.

With just a few hand gestures, the crowd kept their distance.

Meanwhile, Li Xianyun placed the waiter’s left hand on his right shoulder, bent his left leg, then turned his body to lie on his side.

After doing these things, Li Xianyun stood up, took off his overcoat, folded it a few times, and squatted down to place it under the waiter’s head.

Someone couldn’t help but say, "That piece of clothing must be expensive, and yet he’s willing to use it as a pillow for someone?"

A person nearby said indifferently, "Big spender."

Bater gave a cold look and the two people quickly shut their mouths.

After the waiter had vomited out all the filth in his mouth, Li Xianyun laid him flat on the ground.

She crossed hands and pressed on his chest, and after a few rhythmic compressions, the waiter gradually regained consciousness, slowly opening his eyes.

Admiring voices rose from the crowd for Li Xianyun.

"I was scared to death, I thought someone was going to die."

"Yeah, I was terrified too. This young master is amazing, he saved the person in just a few moments."

"And this young master is truly kind-hearted, not at all disgusted by the dirt."

"The garment used as a pillow for the waiter is now soiled and can’t be used anymore. What a pity."

"What’s there to regret, saving a life is what matters."

A woman looked at Li Xianyun with infatuation and said, "This young master is really handsome."

The man who came with her said sourly, "I don’t think he’s that handsome, he’s effeminate, not manly at all."

The handsome man on the staircase curled his lips upwards, thinking to himself that indeed she is not a ’he’.
