Chapter 30 - The Princess' Charm

Joel smirked and said confidently, "I got this from my men when I was trying to find evidence about Count Richard's involvement in the rumors about the princess. Instead, my men found this logbook."

Viana smiled widely as she flipped through the pages of the logbooks on the table in front of her. But then she became serious again and said, "This is really great."

She then lifted her head and looked at everyone in front of her. "Now we just need to find proof and catch them red-handed while they are delivering these goods. If they are smuggling slaves this way, we will catch them in the act."

Lysandra clapped her hands excitedly and said, "So we will determine when their next shipment is and we will catch them right then."

"Exactly," said the princess. Joel and Reyes also nodded in agreement with the plan.

"So now, the only thing left is to figure out when the next shipment will be," Joel said.

Viana looked at him and asked, "Can you take care of that?"

"Of course, Your Highness. Consider it done," Joel replied confidently.

Viana laughed at his enthusiasm, then said, "Alright, let's end this meeting here. Lysandra, you should report to the Crown Prince about what we discussed today."

She then turned to Sina and requested, "Please prepare some refreshments and authentic Elysian tea."

Lysandra and Sina responded in unison, "Yes, Your Highness," and promptly left the princess's guest chamber.

Not long after, Joel excused himself, explaining that he needed to meet with his men in the Valendale Empire. Now that only Viana and Reyes remained in the room, Reyes prepared to leave as well.

But Viana stopped him and opened the balcony doors of her room. Outside lay the vast palace gardens of Valendale, filled with flowers of various kinds and colors.

She called him to join her on the balcony. When Reyes stood beside her, she suddenly climbed onto the balcony railing, startling her Royal Guard, who immediately caught her.

They were now in a position where Reyes was holding Viana by the waist.

Viana, who was also startled because he had suddenly caught her, looked into Reyes's eyes as he gazed back at her.

Reyes's calm brown eyes met the princess's slightly wide ones, their faces were now incredibly close to one another.

But not long after, Reyes let go of her, startled, which caused Viana to lose her balance, and he ended up catching her again.

"Reyes!" Viana hissed in his arms, "Why did you let go of me?"

"I-I'm sorry, Your Highness," he stammered in response. His ears and face turned slightly red.

"Now, please release me slowly," Viana said as she gently pushed against Reyes's chest.

He slowly let go of the Princess while lowering his head in embarrassment. Meanwhile, Viana watched him with a suppressed smile, amused by his reaction.

Suddenly, a "Love Percentage" screen appeared above his head, but Viana couldn't see the number clearly. This made her tilt her head further to get a better look.

Finally, she managed to see the number, which showed 20%. She smiled sweetly at this.

Reyes, who was standing and slightly taller than her, widened his eyes again as her face moved closer to his, and suddenly she smiled.

Realizing he was intently observing her expression, Viana turned her face away and softly whispered, "Now, please release me."

"Yes, Your Highness," Reyes replied in a voice that sounded more like a hoarse whisper, as he slowly loosened his hold.

After being released, Viana said, "Now, stand quietly beside me and keep watch. I just want to sit on the balcony and enjoy the view of the garden."

Reyes obeyed her instructions, standing not far from the princess. His heart was still racing from what had just happened, and he silently kept her company as she gazed at the garden before them.

Unbeknownst to them, from the window of a nearby room not far from the princess's chamber, a man quietly closed the curtain.

He then returned to his desk, clasping his hands in front of his lips, deep in thought.

Moments later, he called out, "Sam." Out of nowhere, Sam appeared before him, wearing a dark hood and a mask covering his nose and mouth.

Sam immediately knelt down and responded, "Yes, Your Highness."

Prince Rayne then instructed with a firm tone, "Prepare our disguises for when Princess Viana returns to Elysia. We will both join their group in disguise. Please tell Lysandra to inform them that there will be two additional knights accompanying them as extra guards."

Sam didn't respond right away. In his mind, he suspected that the Prince might issue an unexpected order, especially after witnessing what had happened between the Princess and her Royal Guard earlier.

Yet, Prince Rayne focused on his plans, setting aside any personal matters.

"Very well, Your Highness. I will prepare it immediately," Sam finally answered. "Is there anything else I should arrange?"

Prince Rayne remained silent for a moment, prompting Sam to glance at him and notice the slight tension in his jaw. Apparently, the earlier incident had a slight impact on him.

"Also, prepare the elite unit to accompany us. But they must remain unseen by anyone," the Prince eventually said. The elite unit he referred to was a highly trained secret force, just like Sam.

"I will carry out your orders," Sam replied.

"You may leave," said the Prince as he picked up a pen, dipped it into an inkwell, and began writing on a piece of paper on his desk.

After Sam disappeared silently, as he always did, the Prince set his pen down and leaned back in his chair.

He couldn't stop thinking about the scene he had witnessed earlier, the image replaying in his mind over and over again.

"I hope I can still get to know you better, Viana," he muttered softly.

Then the "Love Percentage" screen above his head appeared, showing a number: 15%, which Viana could not see.
