Chapter 2853 Aftermath

Lin Xun and Li Zhen set off into Myriad Ravines Mountain Range.

Through refining law powers, Lin Xun had distinctly learned the difference between Earth Rank laws and Heaven Rank laws. Heaven Rank laws were purer and contained better quality energy, making them more helpful to one's cultivation. In comparison, Earth Rank laws appeared mediocre.

Of course, that was only regarding cultivation. To any Nirvana Spirit Immortal, Earth Rank laws were still a treasure.

For the following time, Lin Xun and Li Zhen walked the depths of Myriad Ravines Mountain Range, devoting their whole minds to hunting Desolate Law Power Beasts. With their combat strength, they were not afraid of ordinary Heaven Rank beasts at all.

......

As time passed, the defeat of the Ten Immortal Giants’ participants led by Wang Juehuan couldn’t be concealed. It quickly spread to different parts of the realm.

Deep in a swamp at the Southern Demon Realm...

Poof! The head of a fifth grade Heaven Rank Desolate Law Power Beast shaped like a giant python shattered under a palm strike. Its huge body smashed into the swamp, splashing up waves of blood-colored water.

Cang Fufeng reached out and grabbed. A force that was a fifth grade Heaven Rank law fell into his hand, marking the end of the battle that had lasted merely a few breaths.

Gazing at his slender figure floating above the swamp, fervor glowed in the eyes of the four participants of the Shaman Sect. Their sect believed in strength and honored strength. The more powerful an existence was, the more respected they would be.

During this period of time, they had followed Cang Fufeng around, witnessing how he hunted and killed Desolate Law Power Beasts with devastating force. The respect they had for him had kept growing in the process.

“Young Master, I’ve just gotten news that Wang Juehuan’s group suffered a crushing defeat,” a Shaman Sect participant hurriedly reported as Cang Fufeng walked over.

“A crushing defeat?” Cang Fufeng was stunned. Heaven-incinerating flames danced in his bright eyes. “How were they defeated?”

The other replied, “It’s unclear, but the force of the Ten Immortal Giants only has twenty-five participants left. Their casualties were heavy.”

Cang Fufeng narrowed his eyes. Only after a long silence did he say, “This man Lin Xun...is indeed not simple.”

There were emotions in his comment. Even he was aghast at the fact that Lin Xun had been able to achieve such a bloody feat while under heavy siege, despite being at the initial stage of the Nirvana Spirit Realm at that.

“Yes, Young Master. He is indeed an extremely tricky opponent. If we allow him to absorb more and more law powers in the next several years, his cultivation will soar...” one member reminded.

Cang Fufeng turned to the speaker. “Are you telling me to deal with him now?”

The latter instantly stiffened and broke out into a cold sweat as he hurriedly shook his head, “I’m just worried that he will have become a great threat to us when it's time to enter the Earth Demon Realm.”

“A great threat...” Cang Fufeng smiled. “Then we’ll discuss it when that time comes.”

His mind was not on killing Lin Xun. His goal for taking part in the Immortal Dao Battle was simple: the greatest fortune in the Ten Directions Demon Realm. It would play a crucial role in helping him break into the Transcendence Stage.

......

Northern Demon Realm.

“I already know everything. You guys want to deal with Lin Xun? I won’t stop you, but I won’t join you. I'm not going against him yet,” said Wen Qiaoshui leisurely. He was standing in the clouds, in the middle of finding traces of Desolate Law Power Beasts.

He wore a blue robe. His hair was coiled into a neat bun, revealing handsome and refined features. He looked like the tidy and cool type, so it came as a surprise that his temperament was as calm and unswaying as a mountain. Once he made a decision, he would not change his mind.

Not far away, the four Buddha Masters of the Zen Sect all sighed in their hearts. If Wen Qiaoshui had agreed to join, they would have the confidence to go and kill Lin Xun. He unfortunately didn't have this intention for now, and they didn’t dare to force him.

The Ninth Heaven Domain’s Divine Wen Clan had produced quite a few earth-shattering characters, and had given the Zen Sect plenty of support in the past years. Since Wen Qiaoshui was one of the Wen Clan’s divine sons, they had to respect his decision.[1]

“Don’t worry. In the unlikely event that you encounter Lin Xun during this, I won’t mind lending you my hand.”

These words from Wen Qiaoshui put Ku Xuan, Ku Ji, and the others at ease.

......

Western Demon Realm.

A canyon was currently strewn with piles of mangled corpses. Blood covered the ground. It was a repulsing sight to lay eyes on.

Ji Shanhai clapped her hands and ordered, “Sweep the battlefield. When Well Moon returns, we’ll move to the next destination.”

Her slim and tall figure was clad in a simple, baggy black outfit. Her long, inky black hair was coiled up and fixed by a turquoise hairpin that was inserted in diagonally. Her face was clean and pretty. She was like a lone orchid in an otherwise empty valley, resembling a figure that was untouched by mortal dust and never breathed mortal air.

However, the other disciples of the Spirit Sect were all in a cold sweat, for it was this divine maiden with the title of ‘peerless among all, pure and untouched in this world’ that had just, very casually, slaughtered a bunch of Desolate Law Power Beasts in this canyon.

Every beast, no matter its strength, had exploded under a slap of her fair and delicate hand, dying in a miserable state. From beginning to end, her companions had gotten zero chance to join in!

Who could have dreamt such a beauty, who appeared as collected and as a deity and as serene as an orchid, would erupt with a mountainous, space-warping might once she started fighting?

“Move.” Ji Shanhai’s limpid eyes swept at the three Spirit Sect disciples.

Jolted from their trance, they hastily began to collect the loot.

Swish!

A teleportation light swept in from the horizon at that same moment. Upon arriving, it turned into a lean man. His black hair was tied up behind him, revealing an angular face. His gaze was profound and sharp, and his healthy tanned skin glistened in the sunlight.

It was none other than Well Moon!

“What’s the situation?” asked Ji Shanhai.

Well Moon smiled, revealing two rows of snow-white teeth. “My little junior brother is unharmed.”

Ji Shanhai commented, “He’s the disciple your master waited eons for. On top of that, he is so highly valued by those elders of the Origin Sect. It probably would be hard for him to be in real trouble even if he wanted to.”

Not far away, someone asked, “Brother Well, even the force of the Ten Immortal Giants didn’t even manage to trap your junior brother?”

This time, apart from Well Moon, the other three participants of the Spirit Sect were Pu Songzi, Tan Liuyun, and Le Youfeng. The one who raised the question was Pu Songzi.

“Hahahaha,” Well Moon burst into laughter with a proud expression. “Not only did they fail to do so, but they also got routed by my little junior brother. It was an utter wreck that left only twenty-five of them alive at the end.”

The other three were dumbstruck, frozen in shock with disbelief on their faces.

Even Ji Shanhai was stunned for a moment before she said in surprise, “Really?”

Well Moon nodded. “Really.”

“All by himself?” asked Ji Shanhai.

“Elder Li Zhen of the Origin Sect was also there,” replied Well Moon.

Hearing this, Ji Shanhai couldn’t help but fall into thought. Pu Songzi and the other two, on the other hand, flew into a discussion.

“I personally have had dealings with Li Zhen before. His battle prowess is nothing the average expert can compare to, but I don't think it's at a level that allows him to accomplish such a feat,” Tan Liuyun mused.

“So, the key here is still Lin Xun?” said a startled Pu Songzi.

“That’s something we need to ask Brother Well.” Tan Liuyun looked at Well Moon.

The latter shrugged. “I don’t know much about Youngest Junior Brother except that he is very strong. As for how strong exactly...we'll have to ask the man himself.”

Le Youfeng joked, “He can't possibly be stronger than Miss Shanhai?”

At once, something subtle filled the atmosphere. Comparing Ji Shanhai with someone else right in front of her was certainly insensitive and could easily cause misunderstandings.

However, Ji Shanhai flashed a smile that slightly exposed her teeth and said, “I actually hope that’s the case.”

When she wasn’t fighting, she was like an isolated orchid, tranquil, upright, and noncompetitive. However, her response also demonstrated that she had her own pride and confidence.

“It is lonely on the path without a good rival,” lamented Well Moon.

“Let’s head to the next place to hunt.” Ji Shanhai put an end to the topic.

With that, she got up and got moving. Well Moon, Pu Songzi, Tan Liuyun, and Le Youfeng were right behind.

......

Eastern Demon Realm.

“It seems that I overestimated Wang Juehuan’s ability,” sighed Yuan Changtian upon receiving the news. As much as he was taken aback by it, a complicated feeling welled up in his heart.

Is Lin Xun really so difficult to deal with?

He thought he had never underestimated Lin Xun, but now it turned out that this way of thinking in itself was already an underestimation of the other party!

“Those imbeciles!” cursed Cao Beidou, his face gloomy due to anger. “It was such a great opportunity, but they still got routed. Have they been on their high horse for so long they've forgotten that even a lion must use its full strength to fight a rabbit?”

“Watch what you say.” Yun Tianming glared at him, “The Ten Immortal Giants are not to be spoken ill of casually. Not to mention, who's the lion and who's the rabbit here? Do you really think a heaven pride like Wang Juehuan is a fool?”

Cao Beidou’s expression kept shifting. “I don’t dare to bad-mouth them at all; I just can’t accept this outcome.”

Worry crossed Yun Tianming’s face. “What we should be concerned about now is whether Lin Xun knows that it’s us who divulged his whereabouts. With his character, he definitely wouldn’t let it slide if he knew the truth.”

Thinking of Lin Xun’s past deeds in the Origin Sect, Cao Beidou also felt chills seeping into his heart. He couldn’t help but look at Yuan Changtian.

Yuan Changtian mused, “We’re here to represent our sect, so an open internal conflict will tarnish the reputation of the entire Origin Sect. As I see it, Lin Xun won't go so far as dealing with us during the Immortal Dao Battle, no matter how much he hates our guts.”

Cao Beidou let out a long sigh. “Let’s hope so.”

Yuan Changtian frowned. Cao Beidou probably hadn't realized that he now spoke about Lin Xun with apprehension.

Yuan Changtian said, “If you had asked for my opinion before leaking his whereabouts to the Ten Immortal Giants, this probably wouldn’t have happened. However, since it has already happened, worrying is pointless. During the following period, stop going beyond your bounds and focus on hunting Desolate Law Power Beasts.”

This was a warning to Cao Beidou and Yun Tianming. The two of them had been serving the Ten Immortal Giants, but he, Yuan Changtian, needed people who followed his command!
