The Protagonist System-329 Unstoppable Stoppable
329 Unstoppable Stoppable
I woke up at the break of dawn like usual and hopped out of bed. I felt full of energy and needed to burn some of it off, so I opened a small portal into my bedroom closet and cringed when I saw all the slacker chic clothing. Baggy t-shirts, loose hanging cargo pants with many pockets, and awful hats for every occasion. On the plus side, the sneakers and shoes were good quality.
I pulled out the least offensive t-shirt and pants combo and transfigured them into a good pair of denim jeans and the t-shirt into a stylish button-up shirt with a nice collar. I chose shoes for today, just because they matched the jeans, and used a portal to grab a fresh pair of boxer shorts. I gave the little hearts on them a look, shrugged, and stepped into the main bathroom.
I washed up and used some of the things I had in inventory, like soap, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. Once I was done and cleaned well, I dried myself off with a spell and equipped my chosen outfit. I had many hours before I needed to go to school and face a different kind of battle than what happened the day before, so I stepped from the bathroom to the kitchen.
I had the recipe of Ron's signature dish, the Naco, or a soft taco shell filled with the normal taco things as well as nachos and cheese. He had created it while working at Bueno Nacho and earned a ton of money for it when he sold the idea to the restaurant. He then subsequently lost it all in a scheme from Dr. Drakken and was back to being relegated to his allowance.
I had the thought to make the villain pay for that and went to the refrigerator. The ingredients I needed were there and in the cupboards, so I set to work to make them. I remembered the taste and I was sure I wasn't going to make it much better. Ron's memories told me he had become an accomplished chef in his own right, because he always cooked for himself and didn't want to eat cheap fast food all the time.
That brought my mind to seeing Kim at the dinner table with her family and I held in my sigh. There was no doubt that I felt jealous when I thought about her family, considering the many times I had been invited over for dinner over the years. Mrs. Dr. Ann Possible was more of a mother to me than my own mother was, and that was saying something.
“My parents really suck.” I said and quickly put the ingredients together and set the hamburger in the pan to fry it up. I intended to make a ton of nacos and would bring some to school. Since they were homemade and not bought, the teachers and cafeteria people couldn't complain about it. I would have to pay the restaurant a small fee for using the recipe without permission, though.
The thought made me shrug and I continued to cook what would soon become my staple food while here. My copy power also worked on them when they were finished, to my delighted surprise, and I stored hundreds of them and they were freshly hot.
I took a bite out of the first one and moaned at the deliciousness. “Yes, they are definitely the tastiest guilty pleasure food I've ever had.”
“Squeak?” A small voice asked as a naked mole rat hopping up off the floor, onto a chair, and then onto the kitchen counter.
“Oh! Hey there, little buddy.” I said and slid over a small plate with a stack of dollar-size nacos on it. “I made them smaller for you to eat easier.”
“Gurgle! Boo-ya!” Rufus shouted and immediately shoved one into his mouth, which surprisingly fit with his cheeks expanded. He chewed it up in only a few seconds and swallowed it.
I laughed and slid over a second plate. “I'm glad it worked, buddy. Enjoy!”
Rufus cheered and then ate another one. He had a whole plate of them gone before I finished my first one. I chuckled and told him how he was utterly destroying them and ate another one. It was the best breakfast I had had in a while and I opened the refrigerator to show off the four other small plates that were his.
“You can eat them all right now if you want.” I said and he cheered. “But, you won't have an left to eat for lunch.”
“Awwww.” Rufus grumped.
“I should be home after school, since there's no cheerleading practice set for today.” I told him and washed my hands. “We can decide then what to have for supper.”
“Squeak gurgle squeak?” Rusus asked.
“Nacos on pizza won't work...” I paused and smiled at him. “...unless we rolled it up like a burrito and cut it up like a sushi roll!”
“YEAH!” Rufus cheered and held up a little paw.
“Right on, brother!” I said and used my palm to lightly clap his paw. “Keep coming with good ideas like that and maybe we can sell them to Bueno Nacho, too.”
Rufus gave me a thumbs up with his two front paws and slid off the counter, rolled over in mid-air, bounced off the chair, did a half-gainer, landed on the floor with a splat, then scurried across the floor and back up the stairs.
“I only give that an 8.5! You missed doing a cartwheel after you hit the floor!”
“Gurgle!” He shouted back and I laughed.
“Do you kiss your mom with a mouth like that?” I joked and he squeaked curses at me several times. I kept laughing and picked up my backpack full of food and left the house. I didn't take the keys, because I wasn't going to use them anymore or chance losing them again. Those lose cargo pants and worn pockets were not the best for keeping things inside.
I thought about using the scooter today and glanced down at myself. I chuckled and shook my head, realizing I'd look even more ridiculous than normal if I showed up on a scooter dressed up so nicely. The helmet would cramp my hairstyle, too.
When I walked next door to Kim's place and around the back, I realized I would need to use a lot of Ron's normal mannerisms to not be discovered immediately. I prepared myself as I stood there and let my mental clock tick down to the right moment, then I knocked. A sexy feminine laugh came from inside and I had to fight off an erection as I became aroused from the sound.
“Come on in, Ron.” Ann Possible said and I entered the house. “You've been coming here nearly every day for 15 years. How many times do I have to tell you that you don't have to knock?”
I walked into the kitchen where she was cooking breakfast for her family. “At least one more time, Doctor Mrs. P.” I said and hung the backpack on a kitchen chair. “I also get to hear you laugh and call my name every morning, so it's a win-win all around for the Ron-man!”
Ann laughed and shook her head at me. “If I didn't know any better, I'd swear that was a pick-up line.”
I couldn't resist asking about that and gave her my biggest grin. “If it was, would it work?”
Ann gave me a pointed look, saw my huge grin, and laughed. “Have a seat and I'll add another set of pancakes for you.”
“Thank you.” I said sincerely and thought I saw her cheeks redden slightly before she turned back to the stove and continued cooking. I didn't bother refusing her offer, because if I told her I ate homemade fast food for breakfast, she would berate me for not eating a proper breakfast. Plus, I got to sit at the kitchen table and stare at her shapely ass in beige dress pants as she cooked.
Dr. Mrs. Ann Possible looked like a mature version of Kim, only a little taller, shorter red hair, and slightly larger breasts. In teen-speak, she was a complete hottie. She was also a neurosurgeon, one of the best and busiest in the city actually, and she still made time for her family.
Her husband of many years was a rocket scientist and an astrophysicist. The pair of them were great parents to Kim and her two little brothers, whom were menaces and were in trouble a lot. But, they were little boys and that's just how they were.
Ah, more cliches. How appropriate. I thought with a smile and had a feeling I was going to find a lot more of them soon. I rested my head on my hands as tried to not let my thoughts wander as I stared at the happy woman making food for her family. It wasn't an erection I had to fight off this time, though. It was envy and jealousy. Why couldn't my mom be a good mom like her?
“Why are you looking at my mom like that?” Kim asked from behind me.
I slowly turned my head to look at her instead of jumping like she expected. I hadn't felt her coming and I wondered why neither my danger sense nor my detection ability warned me or even tingled a little. A quick check showed me that they were greyed out and had a week long timer on them, as did a few other minor abilities. What was up with that?
“She... is making... pancakes!” I said dramatically and pretended to wipe drool from my chin.
Kim rolled her eyes as she sat beside me and her mother softly laughed as she served up two plates and set them in front of us.
“Thanks a lot, Doctor Mrs. P. They look and smell delicious.” I said and added a small cube of butter to the top of Kim's stack, then to the top of mine. I grabbed the nice syrup dish and expertly dribbled a generous portion of maple syrup over her stack and then over my own.
Kim and Ann gave me odd looks when I set the dish down and hadn't spilled a single drop like they fully expected me to.
“They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day and I wasn't gonna screw that up after your mom worked so hard to make it for us.” I said and cut into my pancakes with my fork, speared a wedge out, and shoved it into my mouth. I chewed it up with my mouth closed and swallowed. “Ahh, that's great stuff!”
Ann definitely blushed this time and she turned back to the stove to keep cooking.
“You're being weird.” Kim commented and started eating. She tried to muffle her moan when she tasted them and I grinned at her reaction. She waved her fork at me threateningly. “Shut it.”
I snorted and barely held in a bark of laughter. Her mother softly laughed, clearly knowing what happened without having to look, and did up another plate of pancakes. She turned and set it on the table just as her husband entered the kitchen. He kissed her cheek in thanks, sat across from me with a small nod to me, then he leaned to the side and kissed Kim's cheek before he picked up the newspaper and started reading and eating.
“Yep, best to get kisses out of the way with syrup on the menu.” I said and ate another wedge of pancake. They really were good and I was glad that I didn't have to lie about it.
“You're not wrong.” Kim said and ate her second wedge, too. “I'll have to wash my face again before we leave and touch up my makeup.”
I had to keep using some of Ron's mannerisms to not be suspicious, so I pretended to freeze and turned my head really slowly to stare at her. “You... you... YOU wear MAKEUP?”
Kim looked surprised, the paper hiding her father from view crinkled loudly, and her mother laughed as she set two smaller plates on the table.
“I thought you were a natural beauty like your mom!” I exclaimed.
Her father's muffled laugh came from behind the paper as Kim's two younger brothers ran into the kitchen and plopped down onto the last two chairs at the table.
Ann sat down with her own plate and reached behind the paper to smack her husband. “Ron, I wear makeup, too.”
“No!” I gasped and stared at her in pretend shock. “It can't be true!”
“It takes work to look this good.” Ann admitted with a big smile on her face and started eating.
I slumped in my chair as if in defeat.
“What's wrong, Ron?” One of the twin menaces asked.
“My whole worldview was just shattered.” I said and ate the last of my pancakes. “What am I supposed to do now?”
Ann's smile didn't lessen at all as she reached over to pet my hair. “You accept the truth that not all women wake up as beautiful as you think they do, and move on with the knowledge that we do it for a reason.”
I sighed exaggeratedly. “I suppose I have to, huh?”
“Yes, you do.” Ann said and pet me a couple more times before she tilted her head slightly. “Did you do something to your hair? It's really soft and fluffy.”
“Oh! I switched my conditioner to a different brand.” I said and pretended to pull it out of my backpack and handed the large bottle to her. “You can try it if you like. I have a bunch more.”
Ann looked down at the bottle in her hands and back to my face. “You carry it around with you?”
“Yep! I figured someone was going to ask and I needed proof.” I lied and pretended to be proud about being prepared. “It's great stuff!”
Kim chuckled and stood up. “Come on, Ron. We need to wash up and get going.”
“Okay, Kim.” I said and stood as well, then I hung my backpack over one shoulder. “Bye, Doctor Mrs. P, Doctor Mr. P., Jim, and Tim.” freewebnøvel.com
“Bye.” The four of them said as one and I followed Kim to the downstairs bathroom.
I couldn't help feel a little disappointed that her capri pants weren't more formfitting and then realized I was still trying to check her out while she was doing up her makeup. Normally that wouldn't matter, except she could clearly see my reflection in the mirror.
“What are you doing?” Kim asked before she puckered her lips and applied her lipstick.
I thought about denying it and mentally shrugged. “I was wondering why you always wear baggy pants all the time, even though you're the head cheerleader.” I said and physically shrugged. “I only just figured out they let you move around without restricting your kicking height.”
Kim smiled at me and put her lipstick away, then she did a touch of eyeliner and a dab on her eyelashes. “You have been a bit more observant lately.”
“After the close call yesterday, I'm noticing a lot of things.” I said and she stepped back to let me wash my hands and face. I used a towel to dry off and she led us out through the front door of the house.
“Where's your scooter?” Kim asked when we were outside. “We're going to be late to school if we have to walk the whole way.” She said and crossed her arms. “I'm not running and getting all sweaty before first period Chemistry class, either.”
“We can ask your mom for a ride.” I offered, because I was reluctant to take the scooter.
“If you had mentioned that earlier, we would have left already for her to drop us off and to make it to the hospital on time.” Kim said with a small frown. “Is anything wrong? You've been weird all morning.”
I sighed and walked over to my house and entered the garage. The scooter was good for puttering around on and was reliable; but, it sucked for establishing a social standing, other than loser. I could only do so much with transfiguration and still have the thing function. I also didn't have time to tinker with it, so a cosmetic change was all I could do and I'd have to fix the performance issues later.
I changed the length from a compact scooter into a normal motorcycle size, increased the size of the tires and the seat, reinforced the frame to support the extra weight, and expanded the fibreglass panels around the back wheel. I also expanded the headlight into a normal size and formed the fibreglass around it, then changed the handlebars to fit the new look.
It only took a few seconds to make a bullet-bike facade look real enough, with appropriate colors of red and black, and I opened the garage door.
Kim whistled when she saw it. “Ron! When did you get that?”
“Just now.” I said and ignored her pointed look as I hopped on it. I kicked it into neutral and rolled it out, then shut the garage door. I hopped back on and hit the starter button.
Kim winced at the familiar sound of my old scooter's engine. “Ron...”
“You don't have to say it, I know.” I said and handed her a real motorcycle helmet before I put mine on. “I didn't have time to change the engine out, so it looks deadly and performs pathetically.”
Kim nodded and put the helmet on. She walked around me and climbed onto the back of the seat. “At least it looks great and feels like an actual motorcycle.”
“I'll fix it up fully tonight.” I said and kicked into gear as I poured on the gas. We puttered out onto the road at a speed that was just shy of running. When we were up to full speed, I dampened the sound and used a bit of my flight power to go a little faster. “If anyone asks, I bought it cheap and it needs a massive tune-up.”
“Sure thing, Ron.” Kim said and didn't question how we could hear each other through the helmets.
The rest of the ride to school was a quiet one and neither of us felt like breaking it.
