The Psychopathic Beast Emperor-Chapter 67: An Anomaly
The viewing area was silent as everyone stared at the corpse of the Eliminator, the beast who had terrorized a lot of new disciples in trials for years. It even sounded a bit funny because that beast was a Tier 2.
A certified Tier 2 beast!
But reality was harsh in their faces as it lay there, unmoving, in front of a blind boy who was only at Tier 1: Circle of Spirit. If they hadn’t witnessed it for themselves, they wouldn’t have believed it.
It was logically and realistically impossible for a Tier 1 to defeat a Tier 2. It was impossible!
But now they were seeing that it was possible. The evidence was right in their faces.
A blind boy in tattered clothes holding a small red crystal: the Eliminator’s core.
...
Sel chuckled in amusement as he stared at the boy who had collapsed while holding the beast’s core. It seemed that his outburst of power had finally taken its toll on him.
"To think he had such a powerful concept, but death intent..." Sel whispered as his gaze drew to the red-haired foxkin close to him. She was growling, her eyes narrowed into sharp and murderous slits as she looked at the screen, specifically at the elven girl who was tending to the unconscious Bahamut, Exildra.
If stares could kill, Exildra would have entered oblivion by now.
’Just what kind of luck does he have? Even the heir of the Esterias tends to him...’ Sel thought, not daring to say it out loud. He wasn’t in the mood to deal with a fox in love. Especially not one in a one-sided love.
He was too young for that.
He’d rather rest for now.
Aerith stared at the scene with a flat expression but he was far from calm. He felt like he’d been slapped in the face. A Tier 1: Circle of Spirit whose circle wasn’t even fully formed had killed a Tier 2 beast, and he was a level above him.
It felt like he was a weak and talentless person. If it were Sel, he would’ve understood because Sel was first of all, an elf. They were a very strong race with countless talents that it felt like they were favored directly by the world. He had seen Sel’s battle and knew that Sel was holding back by a lot. That alone made him suspicious of his background.
But Bahamut was an anomaly in their midst.
Unlike Sel, Bahamut looked like he had nothing to hide. He went all out, using everything to win. Unlike him, Aerith, Bahamut didn’t care about challenges or competition. He just went with the flow, doing what he wanted to do.
All of them had one or two things they hid from the world but Bahamut was just... neutral. He was too open, but not open. A living enigma that couldn’t be understood with logical reasoning.
And the part that made him grit his teeth anytime he thought about it was...
He was Blind! A blind guy.
Someone who couldn’t see.
He had been defeated by a blind person and he couldn’t take it. Just thinking about it made his eyes flash with a deep, violet light.
Yuka and Yuki, the twin wolfkin brothers were speechless after witnessing the intense battle between Bahamut and the Eliminator. Especially Yuki who had been complaining that Bahamut was been given preferential treatment.
He was dead quiet after watching the battle. It was beyond him. If it were to be him facing any of the two fighters, he would have been dead in the first blows.
It was a fact. In fact, Bahamut felt more dangerous to him than the beast.
To him, the beast there was Bahamut. The way he fought was not sensible in any sense of the word. He used every part of his body to fight and didn’t even fear pain.
The part that shocked him the most was when Bahamut "died." The supposed dead boy just stood up again, his eyes glowing like a devil out of the abyss. Just that look sent chills down their spines.
It was like staring at Death right in the eyes as he stared back at you.
It was horrible!
Gabi was silent, as he pondered the battle he’s watched. Bahamut’s style of fighting, if it could be even described as a style, was way too similar to his style when he went berserk. But unlike him, Bahamut’s own wasn’t based on a state of being that he entered. His was natural. Like that was how he had always been, and it was... awesome to him.
The second part though was the black aura that surrounded him when he woke up from his supposed "death." Gabi had knowledge about it because he’d survived an undead attack before and he knew that intent all too well that he would notice at a glance. Even if it was an image.
And he knew that the only way to have death intent was to have a deep bond and connection with Death.
In simpler terms, you have to die and revive to have it. Undead creatures were the only known beings to possess death intent. But, for a human being to have that... it was too... unbelievable.
It could only mean that Bahamut had experienced death before. And by how dense it was, it meant another deeper thing.
He had died more than once!
As they all pondered what they’d experienced, a teleportation circle materialized under Bahamut, Exildra, and Ren.
In no time, they disappeared from the forest they were in, marking the official end of the trial.
