Chapter 72: Chapter 72: The Abduction

Helen Lloyd pondered for a moment and quickly deduced Julian Sterling’s intention. She hurriedly contacted her subordinates, arranging the scene to stage a car accident near the central intersection. At that moment, Helen’s phone vibrated. She looked down to see a string of numbers sent from Julian’s phone number.

It was a license plate number.

Helen immediately forwarded this number to her subordinates, then grabbed her coat, went downstairs, and drove straight to the airport.

On the other side, Julian was sitting in the car, his mouth constantly urging the driver to drive a bit faster, but his eyes occasionally darted to scan both sides of the road. The time he had scheduled with Gabriel Cole was during rush hour; after talking for quite a while, the sky had gradually turned dark, the streetlights had flickered on, and the traffic had thinned out significantly.

The surrounding people looked very ordinary, and there were no cars tailing them or deliberately giving chase. Did they really think a single driver could subdue him?

The car moved for a while longer, nearing the central intersection. He swept his eyes around and suddenly spotted a red car by the curb on the right-hand side abruptly rushing out.

Julian silently counted down in his head. When the red car was about fifty meters away from his vehicle, Julian grabbed the door handle and shoved hard; sure enough, the lock was engaged. At this moment, the driver also noticed. He turned his head, his face ferocious, and was just about to scream when Julian curled his legs into a defensive stance and kicked the car door with all his might. To make it look authentic, they had used a real taxi; the door was quite flimsy, and the force of Julian’s kick caused it to pop open a crack, though not enough to open completely.

At that instant, the red car slammed violently into the taxi. Panic-stricken and unable to react in time, the driver could only scream: "Catch him!"

Julian used the force of the collision to slam against the left door, throwing himself out onto the road. Before he could regain his composure and sit up, a sharp pain shot through him from behind. His head spun, his vision went black, and he fainted.

Vaguely, he could still hear obscene curses and people shouting.

Julian silently cried out at his own carelessness, but it was already too late.

Helen Lloyd drove to the airport arrival pick-up area. She sat in the driver’s seat, feeling a bit on edge, her hand gripping her mobile phone tightly. On the screen was the messaging interface with Ethan Caldwell. She had sent a series of long messages explaining the current situation, but beneath the messages, the status remained "sent." Ethan had not yet landed, so he hadn’t received the messages.

Just then, a car zoomed past Helen’s vehicle. As she looked up, she noticed the license plate looked very familiar. Helen opened her phone and, while sitting inside her car, surreptitiously zoomed in on the image of that car. Soon enough, she saw someone stepping out.

It was a very young man with a bright face, wearing a dress shirt. He was a somewhat famous figure recently - the young master of the Sterling family, and also a man whose talent was said to be on par with his older brother.

Helen narrowed her eyes at the person in the image.

As Ethan Caldwell’s head secretary, Helen obviously knew that he was married, and she knew he had married the little young master of the Sterling family - the real young master, not that pheasant masquerading as a phoenix over there. That was why when Ethan carried Julian into her office, she hadn’t been overly suspicious; she had even tacitly confirmed that this was the General Manager’s wife, the little master personally selected by the Chairman for the Caldwell Empire.

Linking this to today’s events, where Julian had been led into a trap, Helen would bet ninety percent that the story involved this fake young master standing before her. She quickly switched her phone to video recording mode. The screen displayed the image of the young man smoothing his hair, leisurely making a phone call, and even smiling brightly. He seemed to sense something and hurriedly turned his head to look toward Helen’s car. Fortunately, she was quick enough to press the button that switched the glass to one-way mode; outsiders looking in would only think it was an ordinary car in the lot waiting to pick someone up.

However, he seemed very vigilant, casting his eyes around before moving to a secluded spot, staring intently at the international exit.

Seeing this, Helen stopped recording. She felt something was wrong. Her eyes remained fixed on the young man, while she occasionally glanced down at her phone, hoping her boss would read the messages before appearing at the arrival gate.

Just then, her subordinate called. Helen hurriedly answered: "What is the situation with the Young Master?"

Since this operation wasn’t exactly official business, Helen didn’t refer to Julian as ’Assistant Julian’ as she did in front of outsiders, but called him ’Young Master’ directly. After all, these people were Ethan’s trusted confidants; he wouldn’t object to them calling Julian ’Little Young Master.’ As long as Julian did not harm the Caldwell Empire or betray Ethan, then with Grandpa Arthur’s decisiveness, Julian’s title as the little master would be protected for life.

The subordinate’s voice was grim: "He’s been taken. The car accident caused earlier wasn’t major, but the police arrived and arrested both our people and the other side. The other side only had one driver. At first, he refused to talk, but after a long while, he broke down crying and claimed he was forced, saying he only intended to kidnap him. However, there was someone hiding in the trunk. Initially, the Young Master managed to escape, but the person in the trunk seemed to be trained; they got out very quickly and captured the Young Master."

Helen’s expression darkened. "Understood. Split into two teams. One will probe the police side, and the other must quickly track down the Young Master’s whereabouts. Check the surveillance cameras on the road immediately; don’t let them delete the footage. If anything happens to the Young Master, neither you nor I will be at peace."

"Understood."

Helen hung up. She opened the messaging interface again, hurriedly typing a message to explain the situation to Ethan. But thinking back on the numerous messages sent so far, she feared Ethan might run into Aaron Sterling before he even finished reading them. Consequently, she hurriedly sent a concise message to his phone, typing it in all caps.

[YOUNG MASTER HAS BEEN TAKEN. IT INVOLVES THAT STERLING. SEARCHING NOW.]
