The Revenge of the Reborn Supreme Sovereign-Chapter 70 - 69: Going Crazy Makes Living Reliable!
Qin Fan had returned.
He had returned in the city police chief’s personal car.
From the moment Qin Fan and Ji Yuchen stepped out of the car at the school gates, it took less than two minutes for the news, complete with pictures, to spread to most of Qi Middle School through WeChat friend circles and group chats.
The city bureau’s grand procession earlier had already ensured everyone in Qi Middle School knew that Qin Fan and Ji Yuchen had been taken away. But how much time had passed? They were already back? And they had returned in the police chief’s personal vehicle, no less?
Most of the students who attended Qi Middle School came from families of wealth or influence. The fact that Qin Fan had returned so quickly, and in the police chief’s car, seemed to hold a wealth of information. For a time, in numerous classrooms throughout Qi Middle School, countless students stared, dumbstruck, at the pictures on their phones.
"Qin Fan, I bet the news of us returning in the police chief’s car will soon spread throughout the entire school! What do you think they’ll say? Do you think they’ll still dare to bully you in the future?" Ji Yuchen said, giggling as they walked up the stairs.
"Maybe they will, maybe they won’t. Haha..." Qin Fan chuckled lightly.
The police chief? To many of the students at Qi Middle School, that really doesn’t mean much. Besides, I’m the mighty Shura Venerable reborn. Do I really need to bluff by borrowing the authority of others, using a facade that would crumble at the first touch? What a joke!
"You’re no fun to talk to! What do you mean ’maybe they will, maybe they won’t’? Are you just brushing me off?" Ji Yuchen feigned dissatisfaction.
"Let’s not even talk about whether the police chief is a big deal in the eyes of the people at Qi Middle School. What do we have to do with him? We just hitched a ride. Can that stand up to any real inquiry? This tiger’s skin is so thin it would tear at the first poke. How could you possibly raise a banner with it?" Qin Fan retorted with a playful smile, before sighing. "In the end, a person has to rely on themselves."
Indeed. A person really does have to rely on themselves. If I hadn’t completely subjugated Ye Jizu, what would Ji Yuchen’s situation be? And what about my own? Returning in the police chief’s car? Don’t be ridiculous. Given everything I did, I’m lucky I’m not on a wanted list. Of course, with my current cultivation at the entry-level Qi Refinement Realm, any so-called wanted notices are practically meaningless. But while they are meaningless to me, Jiangzhou would have undoubtedly been thrown into chaos, not the calm that presently reigns.
"Qin Fan, you’ve changed! You’ve really changed! I can hardly believe this is you," Ji Yuchen said blankly, watching his profile as they continued up the stairs.
"If I didn’t change, should I just keep being a coward and a loser, letting people beat, curse, and humiliate me? In this world, the soft are afraid of the hard, and the hard are afraid of the crazy. I was soft for so many years; I’ve had enough of it. I wanted to be hard, but I was afraid of being taken down by the crazy ones, so I chose to become crazy myself. Being crazy brings a sense of security. Just look at me now—at least no one dares to beat, curse, or humiliate me without reason, right? Haha..." Qin Fan mused, now clearly seeing Ji Yuchen as a trusted friend.
The soft are afraid of the hard? And the hard are afraid of the crazy?
Ji Yuchen was lost in his words. After a moment, she bit her lip and said, "But even the crazy are afraid of those who don’t fear death."
"Reckless? Haha, you think those pampered brats would dare to risk their lives? Besides, if someone is willing to be reckless, I just have to be more reckless than them, don’t I?" With his hands in his pockets, Qin Fan gave a dismissive smirk.
What he really wanted to say was that if someone was reckless with their life, he would just have to take it from them. But that was obviously not appropriate to say in front of Ji Yuchen. So, he kept it low-key.
"Is it worth it?" Ji Yuchen furrowed her delicate brows, taken aback by his sharp, unrestrained arrogance.
"For dignity, it’s worth it," Qin Fan said emphatically after pursing his lips and pausing for two seconds. With that, he strode up the stairs, moving two steps ahead of Ji Yuchen.
Gazing at the figure that now seemed, deep down, like a complete stranger, Ji Yuchen’s mind was in turmoil.
From Qin Fan abandoning his usual meekness to deal with Wang Zijun in class, to her opening her heart and inviting him to dinner, to the confrontation with He Haolin, to waking up in his arms as he pressed her philtrum, to her worrying about him at the police station, and finally, to this very conversation. It hadn’t been a long time, but the experiences were unforgettable. They had not only refreshed her perception of Qin Fan but had also completely subverted her own personality. At this very moment, as Ji Yuchen looked at his back, even though she was loath to admit it, the heart that had never fluttered for any other boy felt a faint, subtle stirring.
BRRRING—
Just as they arrived one after another at the classroom door, the bell rang, signaling the end of class.
"Well, that was a wasted trip," Qin Fan muttered, casually shaking his head.
He then turned around coolly, but he never expected that Ji Yuchen, lost in her own tangled thoughts with her brows slightly furrowed, would walk right into him. Her forehead collided directly with his lips.
In that instant, Ji Yuchen snapped back to her senses. Feeling Qin Fan’s lips pressed against her forehead, she froze completely. An intense blush immediately flooded her face.
Qin Fan was startled as well. He had never anticipated such an accident. After a fleeting moment of shock, he calmly took a step back, his expression normal. "Sorry, that was an accident."
"No, it’s okay. I was lost in thought and wasn’t watching where I was going! Um, I’ll head into the classroom first!" Ji Yuchen, who had barely even had her hand held by a boy, stammered with a beet-red face. With that, she scurried into the classroom.
"Felt nothing," Qin Fan murmured, subconsciously tracing his lips with a finger. He felt nothing about the unexpectedly intimate accident and walked down the hallway as if it had never happened, his composure undisturbed.
However, just as he reached the corner of the stairwell and was about to head down, a disdainful snort rang out from behind him.
"Loser Qin, I hear you’ve been getting cocky and think you can fight now, huh? Come on, let’s go one-on-one!"
Loser Qin? One-on-one? Heh...
Qin Fan paused for a second and shook his head with a scornful smile. Without even a glance back, he prepared to continue down the stairs.
Seeing this, the burly student who had shouted rushed forward to block his path.
"What? Scared?" he sneered. "Hmph, a loser is always a loser. You’re a hopeless case! Where’s that courage you had when you beat up Wang Zijun? Everyone’s saying the Qin family’s cast-off from Class 7 has gone crazy and that no one wants to mess with you. Pah! Today, I, Yu Wei, am going to whip your madness out of you, break your foolish bones, and beat you right back into the pathetic wimp you used to be!"
As Yu Wei finished speaking, a cold glint flashed across his mocking face. With another disdainful snort, he raised his hand to slap Qin Fan.
"So, you want to go one-on-one with me?" Qin Fan taunted with a derisive laugh, easily sidestepping and causing Yu Wei’s hand to slap nothing but air.
