THE RISE OF AN OMEGA-Chapter 48: Dark Revolutions
Kira’s POV
I woke up the next morning naked; my body felt refreshed, renewed, and rejuvenated. It was like I had blown off some steam and stress.
I looked over to where Ryker lay, butt to the ceiling sleeping peacefully like a newborn baby. Last night was amazing but did I want it?
I stared at the ceiling, relieving the moment of the previous night, sincerely it was fun, and I enjoyed every bit of it, but waking up that morning I was having second thoughts about everything that had just happened.
No doubt I felt warmth; I felt safe in his arms last night, but what could this mean for the both of us?
Were we just adults who had long been starved of sex for a very long time and last night was our way of satisfying our urges?
Or were we more than that?
He had said that he loved me earlier on before the sex, but I didn’t know if I could believe that if I could hold on to that. I have never had anyone say they loved me once, so I didn’t even know what to expect from someone who claimed to love me.
Was the sex a part of it too?
So many thoughts ran through my head as I sat up on the bed still staring at the ceiling.
I looked at him once, still sleeping like a baby, and quietly, I left the room down to the lining room. I needed enough space to think and clear my head. I didn’t want to wake him.
Quietly and gently, I stood up from the bed, put on my in-house slippers and then walked quietly to the door, opening and closing it as gently and quietly as possible.
I paced to and fro in my living room, thinking about what this might mean for me going forward.
If he loved me truly, would I be able to give him back the life he deserves? With the whole mystic eerie being on the ground?
My head was full of so many thoughts. Just then, I heard the creaking sound of the doorknob, but I didn’t stop pacing.
I felt him standing behind me, carefully watching and pacing around, not saying anything to me.
I didn’t want to be distracted at that moment.
So I just did like he wasn’t in the room.
After a while, finally, he spoke.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah,", I replied abruptly, not stopping to look at him.
"You don’t seem fine Kira"
"I said I am fine," I said firmly.
"I know you, Kira; I know when you are fine and when you are not."
"Please, Ryker", I paused, raising my hands in frustration, "please could you just let me be for now? I need time to think."
"Kira, about last-"
"Don’t even go there, Ryker. I don’t even want to talk about it right now." I said.
"No, we need to talk about it."
"No, there’s nothing to talk about two grownups who had been starved of sex for years, and we both just helped each other out," I said angrily.
His expression changed drastically "Wow!" He exclaimed, "I can’t believe you are saying this right now."
"It’s the plain truth, Ryker", I stopped pacing. "It’s not love, it’s not care, it’s just two wolves satisfying their sexual urges."
"I love you, Kira!"
"No, you don’t; you only pity me!"
"How could you think of something like that? How could you think that I would pity you."
"Look, Ryker, let’s tell ourselves the truth; since I came into this pack, everything I have gone through has made me pitiable, so I will not feel bad if you feel pity; I will feel bad if you try to turn that pity into what it’s not."
Do I even agree with myself that I was being pitied by him?
I was confused, I wasn’t sure I wanted this love he confessed about.
Besides, my death was inevitable. I didn’t see the need to accept his love, so all I wanted to do was to find ways to push him out of my life, and if getting him angry would make him go away, I was ready to try it.
Just as he was about to say something we heard a knock on my door.
We both looked at each other. I wasn’t expecting anyone, and no one knew he was here, so who could be knocking?
The knock came again. This time, it came with a voice. "Hello Kira, good morning, it’s Emilia."
"Oh! Emilia!"
I rushed to open the door.
"Kira, you-" she paused as she sighted Ryker standing by the side.
A wry smile appeared at the corner of her lips "Am I interrupting anything?" She asked
"No!"
"Yes!"
We both replied at the same time.
"Okay," she said with a wide smile on her face "so which is which?"
"No"
"Yes!"
Ryker kept saying yes.
I didn’t know what he wanted to achieve by making her go away, but I wasn’t ready for it.
"Look, Emilia, just tell me why you are here."
"Oh! right!" She exclaimed, winking at me "About that, the elders send for you, Kira."
"The elders? Why?"
"I am not quite sure, but I think they got their hands on some information that might be helpful to you."
"Are you sure of what you saying?" Ryker asked sounding a little bit disappointed.
"I don’t know what exactly they have to tell her but I am sure they have a very important message to pass across to her."
Ryker took in a deep breath.
Immediately I ran into the room, freshened up and ran back out.
"What about our discussion" Ryker asked.
I stopped abruptly as I got to where Emilia was standing. I turned to look at him "There’s no discussion, Ryker."
****
Back at the elder home, there were several other elders in his home, all sitting and patiently waiting for me.
"Yiu sent for me."
"Yes, we did; we have very important information that we think you might want to know about."
And that was the last thing I heard, I suddenly felt dizzy, my eyes rolled. I felt an arm around me, but I couldn’t see who it was. All I could see was a strange, quiet place that seemed to be an abandoned werewolf town.
I saw dead werewolf bodies lying around. I rushed to check the faces of some of them and their faces looked very strange.
There was none among them I knew.
I heaved a sigh of relief. I wasn’t sure where I was, but I knew that this was not my realm, my world.
Is this another vision? I thought.
Then suddenly, the whole landscape changed to a night with a full moon; this time, it appeared like I was on a mountain that was close to the sky. It was like I was standing next to the moon.
Just then, I was pulled backwards by an unseen force, and then I saw two people standing at the very spot I stood, battling.
The battle was fierce; I recognised the ability of one as the kind of abilities I possessed, so it wasn’t hard to detect that he was a moon keeper.
My gaze shifted to the other entity, and suddenly, I was gripped by the strongholds of fear.
This entity.
It was the same entity that had swallowed Ryker and the golden-eyed.
Why was it here?
What generation of moonkeepers was this?
I studied the dress of the moonkeeper, and I understood from his clothing that he was the last moonkeeper before me.
I tried to move to help him, maybe I could rewrite history.
Maybe that was the purpose why the moon goddess was showing me this battle now.
I couldn’t move my legs. It was as if I Was stuck, forced to wait for the battle.
Was the moon goddess trying to teach me something? Or show me something?
I heard a whisper in my ear, "Patience, my child, this battle isn’t yours to fight. Besides, it is a past battle. You can rewrite history."
Hearing this made me calm, so I decided to watch.
The battle was a battle of magic and claws.
Bright Lighting and dark lighting kept flying around as they attacked each other.
The moonkeeper was losing, the entity was winning.
It was painful to watch my kind being beaten and battered and I could see anything about it.
The dark entity struck the moonkeeper with a dark lightning bolt that sent him flying across the mountain, hitting his back on a rock, and blood spilt out of his mouth.
He managed to stand, hands on his rib side. He had probably broken a few ribs due to the impact of the hit, but he wasn’t giving up. He charged forward.
The dark entity sent a wave of energy at him; it sent him flying across to the rock again; this time, the amount of blood that spilt out from his body was more than the first.
He tried to stand up but he couldn’t, anytime he tried he fell back down to the floor.
He was tired.
Suddenly I saw him levitate. I looked at the dark entity he was the one doing it. He was controlling him.
And then the moon keeper Bega gasped for breath.
Blood trickled down his eyes like tears.
His neck snapped in the blink of an eye.
That wasn’t all.
As he fell to the ground, something strange happened; dark tendrils from the dark entity came out and pierced through the side of the moonkeeper’s heart.
It was almost like the way he had absorbed Asher and the rest, but this was different. It looked to be doing something else.
Something more sinister.
