The Royal Mark-Chapter 330: His Siblings
Despite Arla and Lexi accompanying Chris to Rocco’s nursery, he didn’t allow them to touch his son. Instead, he asked them to prepare a warm bath, clean clothes, and warm milk.
Rocco stopped crying as soon as his father placed him in the warm bath. He began smiling and giggling while splashing the water. When Chris handed him his bottle, Rocco’s eyes slowly and heavily fluttered.
"You are such a good baby. Your mom is surely missing you right now," Chris murmured, gazing at the sleepy, adorable little prince in his arms as he lulled him to sleep.
Arla and Lexi watched the father and son with heavy hearts. They could see the pain and sadness in Chris’s eyes and could guess what he was thinking.
"He must be really tired today. What he went through is no joke; I hope it won’t affect him negatively," Chris said as he gently placed the already sleeping prince in his crib.
"Could you stay here with him while I talk to Nathan? Right now, you two and Rylie are the only ones I trust with my son," he told Arla and Lexi.
"Of course, Your Majesty. We are happy to take care of the prince, and rest assured we will protect him with our lives," Lexi replied.
With a nod, Chris left and headed straight to the infirmary. He was barely holding it together, and one wrong word from Nathan or Elandir would surely make him snap.
However, the moment he entered the infirmary, his burden grew even heavier. She saw Nathan, shirtless and facing away, being healed by Rylie using her water spells, while Elandir applied a mixture of herbs he had prepared to aid in the healing.
The wounds on Nathan’s back looked severe and clearly weren’t healing. And by the looks of it, he already knew what happened.
"This won’t work. He needs Valeria or Princess Hera immediately. You must portal him to them. I can’t dispel the curses placed on him, especially these wounds," Rylie said, not realizing Chris was already behind her.
"No one is going anywhere until I get the full story behind this failed rescue," Chris said sternly with his deep and authoritative voice.
"But Your Majesty, his wounds might get infected, and—" Rylie began, but she was interrupted as Nathan stood to face Chris.
"It’s alright, Rylie. I told you, I’m immortal, so I won’t die. I may suffer from an infection, but it won’t kill me. I also want to talk to my son-in-law and Elandir," Nathan said.
"Get dressed, and let’s talk in the assembly hall," Chris instructed, before turning to Hoven. "Follow us there after you gather my elite alphas and Elsa’s mages including Kaizer."
Hoven nodded and left.
"Rylie, could you take over for Lexi and Arla in looking after Rocco? I need them for the attack we are planning, and I trust you and Kaizer to be his main protectors," Chris requested.
Everyone departed the infirmary and reconvened in the assembly hall.
Once they were all assembled, Chris prompted Elandir to resume his earlier explanation. "Care to finally explain how this happened?" Chris asked sarcastically.
Elandir rolled his eyes, clearly irritated by Chris’ tone. "I received a letter from Queen Elsa requesting Bendy and asking if I could bring the creature here. However, I didn’t anticipate her scheming something like this after receiving the confirmation of her dream."
"What dream and who confirmed it?" Andrius inquired curiously.
"Princess Hera uncovered another page of the archmage’s book after my last visit here. However, before I could even relay her message to her daughter, Queen Elsa had already seen it in her dream," Elandir explained.
"What was the fucking dream?!" Chris snapped, his patience wearing thin. "I don’t have the time or patience for your beating around the bush—just fucking say it!"
Elandir glanced at Nathan, who nodded in agreement before revealing the information to everyone. "We only need one person’s blood to awaken the sleeping divine mages... and that’s the blood of Prince Rocco, who is part werewolf, divine mage, and angel."
Chris gaped in disbelief. He could not fathom what he had just heard. His baby boy, whom he was determined to protect at all costs, would need to shed his blood and become involved in the war that Chris was desperate to end without harming anyone on their side.
"But the book didn’t specifically say that! Rocco is too young to be involved. He might not survive the journey to White Shadow Mountain. That place is no place for children!" Andrius exclaimed, He was also losing his patience with the unfolding situation.
Nathan scoffed and questioned, "If waking the sleeping divine mages were that simple, why do you think they’re still sleeping now? This is my grandson’s fate; only he or his siblings can wake them. But we can’t wait for the latter—we need to rescue my daughter before Mordrak corrupts her soul and Milda drains her youth."
"Siblings?" Andrius blurted out loudly, his thoughts slipping out for everyone to hear.
The hall fell silent as everyone watched Chris and Nathan stare fiercely at each other. It was as if an invisible, silent battle was occurring between them, and no one dared to speak.
After a few tense moments, Nathan finally broke the silence. "You promised to take care of my daughter, but you were so careless. You knew a war was imminent, yet you put her in this situation. You didn’t just endanger your wife’s life but also the lives of your future children..."
Chris gulped, rendered speechless. He knew Nathan was right—it was all his fault. Now he had to find a way to rescue his queen without involving their son.
The expedition they would embark on was life-threatening. They wouldn’t be able to use their abilities or magic. The weather on the mountain was freezing cold, with no food to hunt or gather. If it was difficult for an adult to survive there, how much more challenging would it be for a young child like Rocco?
