The Royal Mark-Chapter 342: Wolves With Wings
When one of Arcanis’ soldiers shouted for help, King Andrius, Prince Drake, and Baahu immediately ran to assist, along with three more werewolves.
"What happened?" Andrius asked as they approached the soldier.
"I-It’s King Christopher. My group was patrolling the area and we found the King on the ground. They’re bringing him here now."
"Drake, tell the healers to prepare blankets, warm water, and more fire," Andrius commanded swiftly before turning back to the soldier. "Lead us to him."
The soldier nodded and quickly moved towards his group. They didn’t have to go far as the soldiers were already running towards the campsite carrying King Christopher.
Baahu and the other three werewolves took Chris from the exhausted soldiers and continued carrying him to the campsite.
Arla helped the healers set up blankets near a campfire while Dasher helped to start more campfires around the area.
Baahu swiftly placed Chris on the blankets and started removing his coat. "His boots and gloves are wet, take them off," he ordered.
Drake arrived with pots of warm water accompanied by other mages. Arla and the healers worked together, soaking Chris’ hands and feet in the pots, while Baahu and Drake gently patted his face with a warm, damp towel.
"Where exactly did you find him?" King Andrius asked the soldiers who had discovered him.
"We found him near the rock walls, close to the mountain steep. He was already unconscious when we got there."
"What was he doing there? Did he even eat before going? He doesn’t have werewolf abilities here, and going alone was a terrible idea," Andrius exclaimed.
"I contest that..." Chris, now awake, retorted as he slowly sat up. "Thank you for worrying about me, Andrius. But as you can see, I’m still alive and I have good news. But may I have some water first? Being human in this environment is really tough. I didn’t think I would make it back."
"You’re damn wrong, Christopher! You barely made it. If the soldiers hadn’t found you in time, you could have died. If that happened on my watch, I wouldn’t forgive you for breaking my niece’s heart. Of all people, you should be the most careful," Andrius scolded.
Chris only smirked at Andrius’ scolding before drinking the warm water given by one of the healers. Everyone eagerly awaited Chris’ news as they watched him.
He removed the blankets on top of him, grabbed his coat and fur cloak, and stood up. He staggered a bit, but Drake and Baahu were beside him and caught him. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
"What are you doing?!" Drake exclaimed in annoyance. "You’re really starting to annoy me with your stubbornness!"
"You should be used to it by now; you’re surrounded by stubborn people," Chris replied, finding his balance and standing straight. "I want to show you my good news. Bring Kaizer and the sheep. We’ll need Rocco’s blood," he added with a grin.
Arla gasped, covering her mouth, both happy and stunned. She couldn’t believe they were almost at the end of their expedition. Even though Chris hadn’t said it directly, needing Rocco’s blood meant one thing: he had found the well.
Drake noticed her reaction and patted her back, bringing her back to reality. She quickly ran to Lexi and Kaizer.
"He found it! Christopher found it!" she exclaimed, panting.
Kaizer and Lexi beamed and ordered the werewolves and mages to start preparing.
According to Elsa’s plan, once they found the well, their group would be divided into three. The first group would stay in the camp to keep the campfires burning and watch their belongings in case they needed to stay there for days.
The second group would remain outside the cave as a backup, ready to assist if the third group encountered any problems inside.
Lastly, the third group will be the one in charge of greeting the sleeping divine mages. No one really knows what should expect. They also have zero idea how to wake them up. The only thing that they were sure about was that Rocco’s blood would open the entrance of the cave leading to the mages.
The second and third groups hurriedly accompanied Chris, and they were delighted with what they saw. Chris didn’t even have to speak as almost everyone ran towards the well when it came into view.
"How did you even find it?" Andrius asked as he and Chris watched their people excitedly gather around the well.
"I didn’t find it. It was shown to me. I wasn’t even planning on leaving the camp earlier. It’s actually funny and embarrassing..." Chris paused and chuckled, making Andrius frown.
Chris continued, "When I told you guys I would check on Kaizer and the others, my stomach ached, so I went to the woods alone to relieve myself. I heard noises while doing my business, and when I checked it, I saw wolves with wings..."
"Elsa’s pet, Bendy?" Andrius questioned.
"I said wolves, Andrius. There were two pterolycus, but Bendy was one of them. The other one was white and it was aggressive to me. It looks like it was protecting Bendy. But Bendy walked up to me and licked my face. That’s the time that the white one came to me and let me touch it.
Bendy softly grabbed my hand and led me here before they took off. It’s awkward and weird, but I think they were about to mate when I saw them."
"Wait, so you are saying that Bendy knows this location? And there’s another pterolycus who was about to mate with Elsa’s pet? Who is the male and the female then? And why didn’t Bendy lead any of us here before?" Andrius asked one after the other.
Chris sneered and patted Andrius’ shoulder. "So many questions, but I guess we will have to wait to find out who will get pregnant. But for now, let’s do what we came here for. Let’s wake your people and save our family," Chris said before joining the others by the well.
