Chapter 893: Very Good Tea

Xavier could not help but narrow his eyes at the situation.

He trusted Luca with everything, and there was no question about the possibility of him desiring this man in the same way his wife loved him. That part was unshakable.

But was it really necessary to poison his eyes with another person’s body?

If Luca simply wanted to compare muscles again, then stripping would not have been a problem. Xavier was perfectly capable of that.

But this was different.

Twenty seconds had passed.

His wife was still staring.

And gasping.

Twice, even.

That was too much.

Xavier felt the familiar urge to intervene rise in his chest, only to restrain himself at the last moment. Despite his instinctive reaction earlier, Luca was entitled to look where he wanted. He shouldn’t police him in that way because it was part of his autonomy and natural freedom.

But that didn’t mean Xavier had to sit there and suffer.

In such cases it was up to him to do a little landscaping by taking care of unpalatable fixtures.

But just as the Imperial Crown Prince was about to begin mentally clearing the room, his wife suddenly stepped back.

Then, without warning, he turned and bolted out the door.

"???"

The room fell into a standstill.

A very awkward standstill.

One born from the stunned silence of those who had just been left behind.

For some reason, no one moved. Not the elders. Not Rahil. Not even Doctor Philip, who had gone from kindly observer to deeply uncertain witness.

Theo swallowed.

Maybe this was the real emergency.

__

He was only partially wrong.

It was an emergency. A critical one.

Luca sprinted through the corridor like his life depended on it.

At first, he hadn’t been certain. He had been nervous about the probability of getting it wrong but then he saw another something and even verified that all the somethings were, in fact, very real.

There was no mistake.

He had to be right.

So Luca shot toward the entrance of the booth so fast it looked like he was flying.

What nobody expected was the sudden skid.

He slid to a stop right in front of the free sample stall, heels scraping loudly against the floor.

Customers waiting in line yelped in surprise.

The Orcish Princess nearly dropped the tray she was holding.

She had just finished praising a child for their excellent form and posture when she looked up.

"Oh. Luca!" Princess Kira greeted brightly.

Then she blinked.

Once.

Twice.

Her smile vanished.

"Luca?" she asked again, already frowning. "What’s wrong?"

Luca opened his mouth.

Closed it.

How did one even begin to explain this?

What if she took it the wrong way?

What if she got hurt?

Luca who prioritized rushing over, didn’t really think about how he would break the sensitive news to her?

But Luca knew better than to lie.

He took a breath, stepped closer, and raised a hand.

A thin spiritual barrier bloomed around them before he leaned in with care to inform her.

Princess Kira’s eyes widened.

She gasped.

No one could hear it but with how her entire body jolted and how he looked over to verify with Luca twice, everyone behind the spiritual barrier were certain that something very serious and very interesting was happening.

The customers in line leaned forward in fascination.

From the back of the Activity Center so much farther away, D-29 stopped mid-pose. One leg lifted. One arm outstretched. A glitter prop suspended in the air.

A sliver of itself usually in hibernation in the Host’s sea of consciousness suddenly sharpened to perfect focus.

Tea was being served and even from a different galaxy, D-29 would have felt the need to be privy to it.

Especially when Luca leaned in even closer and whispered.

Princess Kira inhaled sharply.

Her hand flew to her mouth.

Whatever Luca had said, it was enough to make her straighten instantly, eyes blazing with shock, disbelief, and something dangerously close to the precursor of a crime.

And judging by the absolute stillness of everyone who had been watching, it was very, very good tea.

__

Well, how could it not be good tea when Luca looked like he was seconds away from bursting and then said something that nearly froze Princess Kira’s blood?

"Princess. Princess." Luca grabbed the edge of the stall, eyes wide, voice pitching high. "I-intimate! Intimate with another man."

"What?" Princess Kira snapped upright instantly. "Who’s intimate with another man? Is it your husband? Do you want me to beat him up?"

The Orcish Princess thought it sounded impossible, but with even the departed rising from the dead, what could be impossible?

"Huh? What? No!" Luca shook his head so hard it was a miracle it stayed attached.

"Your Highness, it’s your Bunbun," he blurted out. "I’m pretty sure I saw your Bunbun intimate with another man!"

"..."

"..."

"?"

"!!!"

The silence that followed was profound.

Princess Kira’s face went through a remarkable sequence of emotions in record time. Confusion. Denial. Suspicion. Alarm. And finally, incandescent outrage.

She did not pause to question how Luca had even found Bunbun in the first place. That detail vanished entirely.

All she heard was intimate.

With another man.

Her sleeves were already being bunched up.

"Where," she asked, voice very calm in a way that suggested it absolutely was not.

"He better pray to be in the middle of a brawl!"

Being naked was one thing, honestly. That happened often enough after training, so it was nothing to fret over. What alarmed Luca was the way he saw him backed against the wall. There had been flailing. Grabbing. And a very convincing wall slam. They had even been staring at each other intently until they noticed his presence.

And maybe it could have been nothing. But the missing Bunbun had his hands on the other man’s face, in the exact same way he would touch his husband’s face just before they shared a kiss.

"!!!"

Princess Kira took a step forward. A wall slam?

She hadn’t even had a wall slam with her Bunbun!

As one could expect, she was ready as she was. Even if they had to go to a different planet to get him, she would definitely grab a hold of him.

Then Luca suddenly remembered something else.

"Oh! And also, I think he’s very sick."

Princess Kira stopped mid-stride.

"Huh?"

But what confused her even further was why they were running to the makeshift medical bay?

Did Luca incapacitate him already?
