Chapter 895: Identity Unmasked

Then again, it wasn’t as though Princess Kira had never thought of those questions.

She had thought of many things since the day her Bunbun disappeared. She had imagined him trapped inside a dungeon like Duchess Amelia. She had imagined him kidnapped by pirates, just like Ollie and Lord Killian. She had imagined far worse, too.

So many possibilities. So many questions tied to each of them.

She had long since resolved to ask all of it.

But every single one of those thoughts was promptly shelved the moment she laid eyes on his body.

She had fully expected to see someone new lying in the makeshift infirmary. Perhaps Luca had lightly tapped them and they were now unconscious. That happened often enough, especially around their guild leader.

So imagine her surprise when the door opened and revealed not one, but several familiar faces.

"???"

Her gaze swept across the room.

And suddenly, everything slowed.

Against one wall, two men were pressed close together.

Too close.

One of them was backed against the wall, breath uneven, shoulders tense. Yet his hands were not trapped or flailing. They were raised instead, fingers spread as they cupped the other man’s face with startling familiarity.

The second man loomed forward, caging him in with his body. And yet, it was his face that was being held, caught between steady palms as if the space between them had already been claimed. To anyone looking, it was impossible to tell who was restraining whom.

They were looking at each other as if the world beyond that narrow space didn’t exist.

Her heart pounded.

How had she not seen this earlier?

Her eyes followed the lines that first drew her attention. Faces. Hands. Expressions so intense they made her stomach flip in a way she absolutely recognized.

No wonder Luca rated wall slams so highly!

But then her gaze dropped. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

And she saw it.

A scar so familiar she could probably draw it from memory.

Unmistakable.

Right there.

On the soap who was holding the face of his alleged assistant.

"!!!"

Her breath caught.

And she bellowed a name she had not spoken in far too long.

"LUCIO MONTBLANC!"

__

"You! How dare you do this to me!"

"How dare you wall slam each other without me seeing!"

"..."

"..."

Off to the side, the Imperial Crown Prince took a solid five seconds to process everything.

As someone who had grown accustomed to being blindsided by words he never expected to come from his wife’s innocent yet deadly lips, Xavier somehow managed to ignore the part about wall slams.

While he was deeply concerned about where Princess Kira had learned that, he had absolutely no intention of outing the likely culprit, his wife.

Instead, he focused on the smaller details. On Luca sprinting off earlier like the world was ending. On the way his little chipmunk had looked so urgent he hadn’t even paused to explain.

With this scene unfolding before him, Xavier finally understood why.

Admittedly, it took longer than expected because he hadn’t anticipated this development.

He knew about their titles. He knew about their noble houses, and he knew they were elves.

What he hadn’t expected was an entirely separate identity.

One that somehow carried even more emotional weight than being an Aetheryon.

It was fortunate he hadn’t committed to doing a cleanup earlier. Had he done so, he would probably be sleeping in the garage right now.

To think they didn’t even have one at the moment.

But it was a serious possibility with how his little wife looked most definitely invested in this.

Next to him, Luca radiated extreme focus that Xavier couldn’t help but wonder if D-29’s condition was contagious. Because with those sparkling eyes and hands even held together, his little wife gasped in awe every time the Princess stomped.

Xavier glanced at him.

What kind of moral support was this?

Then again, Luca had already contributed more than enough by being the one to discover everything in the first place.

Which brought Xavier to an important question.

How did he do it?

The Imperial Prince, who had once experienced kneeling on the ground for his own crimes, flinched when Kira said, "How could you make me record an alibi for your other fiancée?!"

Luca, who was beside him, gasped in excited horror, and had the blonde gremlin been here, there would have been two of them with the same reaction.

"..."

Sure enough, he didn’t want to be in the same position as the Elven Prince, who looked like he was one cough to heaven or, in this case, hell.

After all, out of every question in every galaxy under the Empire of Solaris, that was the one he received next.

Still, Xavier was nothing if not a man who learned from other people’s mistakes, so he watched.

But he also couldn’t shake his curiosity. So under a freshly raised spiritual barrier, he leaned down and asked quietly, "Luca. How did you know?"

"Huh?"

Luca blinked, then slowly realized what his husband meant.

"Oh! That," he said, lifting a hand as if explaining something simple. He traced an invisible line along Xavier’s torso. "Remember when Princess Kira showed us the photo of her Bunbun? And he had a scar here?"

He tapped Xavier lightly. "And I said I was sure you couldn’t be him because you didn’t have something like that?"

Xavier nodded.

"Well," Luca continued, "when I saw something so similar, I had to check. But I was scared of getting her hopes up, so I had to verify it another way."

"Another way?" Xavier asked, genuinely surprised.

"Yes!" the little chipmunk nodded eagerly. "The scar from his palm to his wrist. I have seen that before. From the snippets of memories I had when I returned to this body."

He paused, then added thoughtfully, "Since the line of sight was usually the same height, I was more familiar with his hands than his face."

Xavier stared at his wife.

He understood. But more than simply understanding, he suddenly recognized something important.

More than being Princess Kira’s missing fiancé, this man was someone who knew about Luca’s secret.

Therefore, there was absolutely no way anyone was leaving without a very serious conversation.

Just as Princess Kira’s hair went wild and Luca gasped in awe once more, Xavier couldn’t help but ask again, "What exactly are you finding so fascinating?"

Then again, maybe he shouldn’t have asked.

"Well," Luca said, eyes shining, "every time the Princess speaks, her Bunbun’s body opens up."

"Huh?"

"Open up?"

Luca nodded enthusiastically. "Yes! His pathways open, and every time it happens, I can tell—"

He stopped abruptly, gasping again.

"Tell what?" Xavier pressed.

"Oh! I can tell we could harvest a lot of CP from him!"

"What?!"

"CP?!" Xavier repeated, alarmed.

The Crown Prince’s reaction was a stark contrast to the expression of the beauty next to him.

"Yes! It’s a little odd in his case, but it has to be CP!" Luca said, eyes gleaming.

"!!!"

Sure enough, that Elven Prince had better start praying this early.
