Chapter 563: Chapter 578: This Particularly Resembles Favoritism

Feng Yi took his phone out of his pocket and dialed Li Manman’s number. It rang for a long time before finally being answered.

"Manman, where did you go? Why haven’t you come home so late?"

Li Manman lay on her side on the bed and reached out to turn on the lamp. The warm orange light was too bright for her eyes: "I went back to my parents’ house. Is there something wrong?"

"Manman, there’s really nothing but friendship between me and Shiyuan. Can I pick you up and bring you back right now?"

Li Manman turned over to face away from the light, her voice steady, without any waves: "I miss my parents and want to stay at home for a few more days. I’m tired; if there’s nothing else, I’ll hang up."

"Come back, I can’t sleep alone."

Feng Yi had gotten used to that girl clinging to him like a little octopus every night. Without her beside him, he really couldn’t sleep.

"No, I want to stay home for a few days. You should go to sleep early too." Li Manman didn’t give Feng Yi a chance to say more, hanging up the phone directly.

Feng Yi raised his hand to pinch the bridge of his nose, his well-defined fingers quickly typing a few lines on the screen to send to that girl.

[Manman, I know I was wrong. Shiyuan grew up with me in the orphanage; we’re like family. She came to An City alone with no one to rely on, and I just feel sorry for her. You’ll always be the most important person to me, don’t be mad.]

Li Manman looked at the text message from Feng Yi on her phone screen, feeling troubled inside. She wanted to forgive Feng Yi but couldn’t get over this hurdle in her heart.

She couldn’t accept her boyfriend being so special to another woman, a kind of special that felt a lot like favoritism.

.......

The next morning, Li Manman was still asleep when the sound of knocking woke her. Groggy, she lifted the quilt and got out of bed, opening the door to find Feng Yi’s handsome features entering her line of sight.

"Why are you here?"

Li Manman turned around and walked to the bedside, sitting down. Her clean voice carried the huskiness of just having woken up.

"I came to take you home. Don’t be mad; I know I was wrong."

Feng Yi sat beside Li Manman and pulled the girl into his embrace.

"Didn’t I tell you on the phone yesterday that I miss my parents and want to stay home for a few more days?"

Li Manman spoke calmly but refused to mention Yu Shiyuan.

Feng Yi raised his hand to cup the girl’s face, forcing her to meet his gaze: "You’re clearly still mad at me. I swear there’s really nothing but friendship between me and Shiyuan, not what you think."

"I simply want to stay home for a few days. We’re just boyfriend and girlfriend; I don’t have the right to interfere in your friendships, and you can’t stop me from going home."

Feng Yi was really about to be driven crazy by this girl. She was clearly still angry but insisted on appearing indifferent: "What can I do to make you not mad?"

Li Manman pushed Feng Yi’s hand away, turned, and lay back under the covers: "I’m not mad. You should hurry to work. If you haven’t had breakfast, it should be ready downstairs."

If that girl got upset and cried, it would be easy to comfort her. But her current lukewarm attitude was really driving Feng Yi crazy: "I’ll come over to be with you again tonight."

Li Manman didn’t respond further. She turned over in bed, facing away from Feng Yi: "Remember to close the door properly for me."

Feng Yi walked out of the bedroom helplessly, turning around to glance at that girl before finally closing the door.
