The Scheming Billionaire's Heartfelt Devotion-Chapter 787 - 802: We Are Trapped in the Elevator
Nancy smiled and raised her hand to grasp Zhong Li’s hand suspended in mid-air.
Suddenly, the elevator became pitch black, and it was plummeting rapidly. Zhong Li, in a panic, grabbed Nancy’s arm.
"Don’t be afraid, I’m here."
Nancy hugged Zhong Li tightly, and the two tried to lean against the elevator wall.
With a loud "bang," the elevator landed violently. Due to the inertia from the strong impact, the two lost their balance and tilted to one side. At the moment they fell, Nancy used her arm to protect Zhong Li’s head, afraid she would get hurt.
"Are you okay?"
Zhong Li’s head rested on Nancy’s chest, clearly feeling his breath becoming more and more rapid.
Nancy unbuttoned a few buttons at the collar of her shirt, shaking her somewhat dizzy head: "I’m fine, it seems like the elevator malfunctioned."
Zhong Li straightened up from his chest and helped him into a sitting position: "I’ll call someone to come over first."
"Okay," Nancy replied.
Zhong Li took out her phone from her bag, turned on the flashlight, and pressed the emergency phone number on the elevator wall, but there was no signal, she couldn’t get through at all.
Nancy gasped heavily, sweat already beading densely on his forehead.
"Are you okay, why are you sweating so much?"
Zhong Li worriedly squatted on the ground, afraid something might happen to him.
"I’m fine, try calling for help, maybe someone passing by might hear." If they stayed any longer, Nancy really wouldn’t be able to hold on.
"Alright, I’ll do it right away."
Zhong Li walked to the elevator door with her phone, pounding hard: "Is anyone there, help... is anyone listening, we’re trapped in the elevator."
After shouting for quite a while, someone finally responded from outside: "Miss, don’t worry, I’ll go find someone right away."
"Thank you, but could you please hurry, my friend seems really unwell."
"Okay, I’ll go find someone immediately."
Zhong Li crouched beside Nancy, looking at his pale face, terrified that something might happen to him.
"Don’t worry, I’m okay."
Zhong Li took out tissues from her bag, wiping the sweat from his forehead: "We’ll be out soon, just hold on a little longer."
Nancy leaned against the elevator wall, his damp palm tightly gripping Zhong Li’s hand.
The two waited in the elevator for more than ten minutes before the community’s elevator repair personnel arrived: "Is your friend okay?"
"Please hurry, my friend can barely hold on."
"It’ll be done soon, just hold on a little longer." The staff was already working quickly on the repairs.
Zhong Li anxiously let Nancy rest his head on her shoulder, tightening the hand that was holding his.
The elevator door quickly opened, and the repair staff hurriedly helped Zhong Li and Nancy out: "How are you guys?"
"I’ll take you to the hospital right now."
There was only the faint light from a phone in the elevator, Zhong Li could only vaguely see that Nancy’s complexion was poor. Once outside, she realized his face was so pale that it was devoid of any color.
"No need, just lying down at home will be fine."
"Your face looks terrible right now, it’s better to get checked at the hospital so I can be at ease."
"Yes, young man, I think you’d better go to the hospital," said the auntie who had just called for help.
Nancy gave Zhong Li a weak smile: "I really am okay, let’s go home first."
Zhong Li couldn’t argue with him any longer and could only nod in agreement: "So should we take the elevator or the stairs?"
