"Change your clothes and come eat first." Gu Nanxi glanced at the watch on her wrist. "I’ll take you there later, we’ll make it in time."

Zhong Li nodded and then left the room.

After freshening up in the bathroom, changing clothes, and putting on light makeup, Zhong Li went back for breakfast.

The two sat across from each other at the dining table. Gu Nanxi leaned over and placed a bowl of porridge in front of Zhong Li. "You seemed really worried about me yesterday?"

"Don’t get the wrong idea, I would have been concerned if it were any other friend." Zhong Li finished speaking and took a sip of the porridge.

"If it were someone else, would you have let them hold you to sleep?"

Zhong Li coughed awkwardly and tucked a few stray hairs behind her ear. "I... you were so weak yesterday, I felt sorry for you."

After breakfast, Gu Nanxi drove Zhong Li to work. When the car stopped at the company entrance, Zhong Li reminded her not to hesitate to go to the hospital if she still felt unwell.

"If you’re so worried, why not take the day off and accompany me?"

"Gu Nanxi, I’m not joking with you." Zhong Li looked at her seriously.

"Just teasing, go ahead."

Gu Nanxi watched Zhong Li enter the company before driving away.

Zhong Li stepped out of the elevator and immediately saw Assistant Wang coming out of the president’s office looking utterly crestfallen, like a wilted eggplant.

"Why the long face so early in the morning?" Zhong Li asked as she walked over.

Assistant Wang pushed open the office door and slumped into a chair with a look of despair. "President Qi said I’d lose a month’s salary. Who did I offend this time?"

"Why on earth did they dock your pay?"

"I want to know too! How could they dock it just like that? And no reason given."

This morning, Assistant Wang was called into the office by Qi Shangyu, who gave him an earful for no reason, and then inexplicably docked his salary by a month.

"What did they scold you for?" Zhong Li asked, sitting down at her desk and casually turning on her computer.
