Chapter 822: Chapter 837: Regrets So Deep They Turn Your Guts Green

Qi Shangyu glanced at Zhong Li, then told everyone that everyone had arrived and they could get on the car and depart.

Zhong Li, carrying a backpack, walked with Assistant Wang to the front of the business van. They only boarded after everyone else was seated, but just as Assistant Wang lifted his left foot, he was glared at by Qi Shangyu.

Assistant Wang immediately understood the signal and retracted his foot, allowing Qi Shangyu to sit beside Zhong Li before quietly following behind to get on the car.

Zhong Li sat by the window in the front row. Seeing Qi Shangyu sit next to her, she couldn’t help but lean to one side.

Noticing Zhong Li’s subtle move, Qi Shangyu calmly instructed the driver to start driving.

Zhong Li rested her head against the car window, took out her headphones from her backpack, and swiped her phone screen to play music.

Qi Shangyu turned his head to look at her, a smile unknowingly forming at the corners of his mouth.

In the back, Assistant Wang switched seats with a colleague and happily sat next to Zheng Feifei, eagerly chatting.

The two business vans drove for almost an hour before stopping at the foot of the mountain. Everyone got out of the car with their bags, and Qi Shangyu looked at Zhong Li from the side, "Let me carry your bag for you."

"No need, President Qi, thank you." Zhong Li smiled politely.

Two male colleagues were in charge of carrying the tents and cooking equipment and ingredients they would need that night.

"Let’s go, we’re setting off now." Qi Shangyu said as he started up the mountain.

Everyone walked up the mountain, chatting and laughing. Zhong Li still wore her headphones, the beautiful music mixing with the fresh, clean air of the mountain, made her feel very comfortable.

Halfway up, Assistant Wang started complaining that he couldn’t go on, although it wasn’t because he was out of energy, but rather because these skinny jeans were just so... not suitable for hiking.

Qi Shangyu turned around to see Zhong Li not far away. Her forehead was already glistening with fine sweat. Worried that she might be tired, he thought everyone could use a rest: "There’s a pavilion up ahead, let’s rest there for a while."

"Sure, sure."

Assistant Wang leaned on a nearby tree to stand up, genuinely regretting his outfit choice now, feeling regret deeply.

At the pavilion, Qi Shangyu took out a tissue from his pants pocket to wipe the bench, then looked up at Zhong Li: "Sit here, I’ve already wiped it clean for you."

Everyone was busy taking photos to post on their social media, not noticing them, so Zhong Li nodded and pulled Assistant Wang over.

Assistant Wang leaned gloomily against a pillar, thinking there was still almost half the journey left, and suddenly felt a sense of utter despair.

Zhong Li opened a bottle of mineral water, took a few sips, then looked at Assistant Wang: "A bit stunned, huh, still think you look dashing now?"

"Alright, stop teasing me—although I was really being brainless. Why on earth did I wear skinny jeans to climb a mountain?"

"Just to look cool." Zhong Li said with a gleeful schadenfreude without thinking.

Qi Shangyu looked at Assistant Wang with a dark expression, never seen anyone so lacking in awareness.

Feeling those gloomy eyes directed at him, Assistant Wang nervously smiled at Zhong Li: "I’m going to chat with Zheng Feifei."

After saying that, he quickly ran off without waiting for Zhong Li to respond.

Zhong Li was also thinking of finding an excuse to leave when Gu Nanxi’s video call popped in, and she smiled as she pressed the receive button.

"You guys are already on the mountain."
