Chapter 56: Sign It!

Before Eren’s knife could reach Raven’s heart and end her life, Useless’s next words somehow managed to stop its master cold.

[Master! "Squid Game" Season 2 has been uploaded!!]

The tip of Eren’s blade froze mid-air, just inches from Raven’s chest. The woman hadn’t even noticed his presence thanks to the illusion camouflage cloaking him.

The cold, murderous gleam in Eren’s eyes faded, replaced by a baffled stare as he turned toward the floating green system screen beside him.

"What did you just say?"

Seeing that it had successfully diverted its master’s attention, Useless let out a dramatic sigh of relief—if it even had lungs to sigh with.

...

As it turned out, the notification bell wasn’t some random system alert—it was actually about a new update in the shop. A new category had just been added under Miscellaneous, specifically focused on modern entertainment like movies and TV series.

Useless wasn’t sure why this update suddenly dropped now of all times, but hey—at the very least, it had just saved Raven’s life. Not that she even realized she was moments away from death.

With a curious and slightly suspicious expression, Eren opened the System Shop. He tapped on the search bar and typed in the name of the show Useless had mentioned.

To his surprise—it was real.

Eren clearly remembered that the last time he browsed this category, the most he saw were dusty old CDs and USBs with classic films he’d already watched. There were no TV series at all.

But now? The shop was fully stocked with titles from his past world—Battle of Thrones, Bad Breaking, Walking Corpse, New Cops, Inevitable, and even unfinished ones like Supernatural Brothers that he haven’t watched it yet. All available in tiny colored chips meant for his game console.

And Squid Game Season 2? That hadn’t even aired back in his old world—just a trailer had been released.

Yet here it was.

’How do you know about this?’ Eren narrowed his eyes, glaring at the floating screen like it had just committed a crime.

Useless’s screen-body trembled under the pressure of its master’s piercing gaze. It understood exactly what Eren was asking.

How did the System—a sentience AI with supposedly limited information about Eren’s personal tastes—know his favorite show?

[It’s because of this, Master.]

Useless displayed the new notification it had received a moment ago.

---

[New Notification!]

"Squid Game Season 2" – Your favorite show has been uploaded to the System Shop.

---

That was all. Just that one line. Eren raised a single brow in confusion, then narrowed his eyes in thought.

To think this ridiculous notification not only stopped him from killing Raven, but essentially saved her life... it was enough to make him want to laugh like a villain in a B-grade anime.

Instead, he just scoffed.

’The ■■ is interfering too much,’ he thought, eyes gleaming coldly.

He then looked back at the woman tied up against the tree—distracted and focused on the commnder and his clone—deep in thought. Useless grew anxious, worried that its master might still go through with the murder.

But what Eren didn’t realize—or rather, hadn’t noticed—was that Useless had cheated.

Yes, cheated.

Remember that moment when Eren’s knife actually stabbed Raven’s chest with a nasty splashing sound?

Yeah, that did happen.

Raven had, in fact, died.

But Useless, in a split-second panic, used a chunk of System Points (SP) to rewind time by just a few seconds. That’s why she was still alive now. It was a subtle rewind, but it had cost quite a bit.

Fortunately, not as much as the last time—like when Eren jumped out of the window.

And this time, Useless didn’t need to sacrifice its System Rank, thanks to the large amount of SP that Eren had recently farmed.

[Current System Points: 569,590 SP]

That much SP could easily raise Eren to Level 4 or even upgrade the entire System to Rank 5.

Still, Useless couldn’t help but feel nervous. It had used SP without permission. If Eren noticed the sudden dip, it might get scolded—or worse.

Meanwhile, Eren was still thinking.

The woman who Eren calls her Digger MILK was, admittedly, talented. Even if her existence didn’t matter to him—whether she lived or died—her abilities could be useful to him or the Valmont family. But at the same time... he really didn’t want her anywhere near him.

After a moment, he made his decision.

’Whatever. I’ll just throw her into the group.’

With that, he deactivated the illusion magic, causing the clone version of himself—who had been chatting with the commander—to disappear in a blink.

"What?!"

Everyone watching the clone turned sharply, stunned to see Eren suddenly standing beside the tied-up woman.

"When did he get there?" Kristoff muttered in disbelief, convinced Eren had just teleported.

Commander Gareth’s eyes widened in alarm as he saw Eren raise his infamous kitchen knife, aiming it straight at Raven.

"Wait, Master Eren—!!" he shouted, rushing forward.

But he was too late.

–Stab!

The knife pierced deep—but not into Raven.

Instead, it stabbed into the tree trunk beside her face. She turned pale as snow, eyes wide in terror, her soul practically flying out of her body.

Gareth stopped in his tracks. The others froze as well.

"Relax. I’m not planning to kill her... yet."

Eren said this with a lazy expression, arms folded across his chest. But that last word—"yet"—did not make anyone feel better.

He looked down at the unconscious Raven, then gave her a solid slap to the chest.

–Slap!

–Boing~

It worked. She snapped awake, gasping as the sting brought her back to reality.

Seeing that she was conscious again, Eren took out a sleek black handkerchief from the System Shop and began wiping his hands.

"Now... about your unemployment... MILK"

.....

Before Eren was about to give Raven a chance to be hired, he asked Useless something.

"Is it possible to make her a slave in this world?"

In many fantasy stories, the concept of slavery was quite common, so Eren was sure this world had something similar.

[It is possible, Master. In this world, slaves are common. A slave contract is used to enforce obedience and bind them against their will. However, it’s typically used as punishment for criminals or those with debts.]

[Although, there are also people who use it for different reasons and—]

"Skip."

Useless immediately paused upon hearing that dreaded word again, realizing it had strayed from the main point.

[Ahem... What I meant to say is yes, it’s possible to turn her into your slave using a slave contract. These contracts use mana to form a magical link between master and slave.]

[You just need to purchase a slave contract scroll, write down the terms and rules, then sign it. That’s all.]

Useless explained.

After hearing the short explanation, Eren gave a small nod, already realizing how useful such an item could be in the future.

"In that case, purchase one for me. A very strong one."

---

After acquiring the item, Eren took it out from his inventory and handed it to the commander, surprising everyone present.

"W-Wait! I haven’t agreed yet!" Raven shouted in shock upon seeing the scroll—an actual slave contract.

Just moments ago, Eren had told her he’d accept and hire her into the Valmont family... if she agreed to become his slave.

Naturally, she had refused at first. Becoming someone’s slave was the worst kind of humiliation she could imagine. But then Eren casually mentioned that if she refused, he’d just slit her throat instead—which made her hesitate.

"Do you have a choice?" Eren asked, tilting his head slightly with a cold, lazy gaze.

Under that same gaze, Raven could only lower her head in defeat.

"...Fine," she murmured softly, her voice filled with reluctant submission.

When Gareth received the scroll and opened it, his eyes widened in disbelief—it was a high-ranking slave contract. He turned toward the young master, confused and suspicious.

"Master Eren... where did you get this contract?"

Leon, Kristoff, Hector, and Marie glanced between Gareth and the scroll, not understanding why he looked so shocked.

The reason was simple, the scroll he was holding was a top-grade magical item. Extremely expensive, difficult to obtain, and normally only sold in black markets, auctions, or by royal families. Even the Valmont family, rich as they were, would have a hard time get their hands on one. Because it’s very rare.

Eren looked at the commander for a moment before casually blinking and replying, "My mother gave it to me."

His tone was calm, his eyes half-lidded and indifferent.

Gareth stared at him with flat, expressionless eyes, clearly not believing him—but choosing not to press the issue.

Eren then handed him a pen and began listing the rules to write on the contract. Surprisingly, they weren’t as twisted or disturbing as Gareth had expected—but something about them still felt... off.

Blood Pact Scroll

Contract Level: 6 Stars

With this magical scroll, the contracted party (Party B) must obey the contractor (Party A) and follow all set rules. The contract is bound by mana blood and remains valid based on the written terms.

1. Party B must always obey Party A’s words and orders without exception.

2. Party B must never betray Party A and must remain loyal, truthful, and honest to Party A only.

3. Party B must assist Party A in times of hardship or when he is in trouble.

4. Party B must attend to Party A when he is tired or weak—caring for and comforting him.

5. Party B must remain by Party A’s side at all times and never leave him.

6. Party B must never allow harm to befall Party A and must protect him at all costs.

7. Rules 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 can be ignored if Party B is given a direct order from Party A, as stated in Rule 1.

8. Party B must support the people of the Valmont household and its territory and must never harm any member of the Valmont family under any circumstances.

Penalty:

If Party B breaks any of the above rules, they will receive a strong electric shock in the chest for five seconds.

Duration:

This contract lasts for 30 years and cannot be broken—by anyone, anything, or even by the contractor himself.

Blood Signature:

---

After reading the contract aloud for Raven and the others, Eren swiftly took it back from Gareth’s hand and walked toward Raven. On his way, he grabbed the kitchen knife still lodged in the tree beside her.

"You’ll agree to the terms, right?"

He smiled innocently, eyes closed in a seemingly gentle expression—but the glint of the knife’s blade made Raven break into a cold sweat. She nodded her head rapidly, trembling, unable to muster the courage to refuse after what she’d just been through.

"Y-Yes! Yes, of course. No problem at all," she stammered, forcing a weak smile.

Eren knelt down, pricked her finger with the tip of the knife, and pressed it firmly onto the contract’s signature space. Then, instead of signing it himself like everyone expected, he turned and handed both the scroll and the knife to Commander Gareth.

"Sign it," Eren ordered, his tone sharp and lazy.

Everyone turned to look at the young master in shock. Gareth blinked in confusion, wondering if he’d misheard.

"...Pardon, young master? I don’t understand what you—"

"Sign the contract. With your blood," Eren repeated, this time more impatiently, eyes narrowed in irritation.

Gareth stood frozen, eyes blank, clearly struggling to process what he’d just heard. "W-What... I..."

"Hurry up and sign it," Eren snapped. "Didn’t you say she was important? That she could be useful to us?"

That was actually Raven who said that, not him—but Eren didn’t care to correct the detail.

"Because of you—and your five interruptions every time I tried to kill her—I’ve wasted so much time!" Eren glared at both Gareth and Raven before turning back to the commander. "Since you seem to care so much about this woman, Take Responsibility and sign this *@%$ contract!"

He slammed the scroll and knife into Gareth’s chest.

"You’re not married anyway, so you don’t have to worry about cheating on anyone. Consider her as your new bride."

-Pfft.

A strange noise broke the tension, and everyone turned toward Kristoff, who had hastily covered his mouth with his hand. He let out a polite cough.

"Ahem."

Gareth stared at the scroll for a long moment, deep in thought. Meanwhile, Eren tapped his foot, frowning, clearly growing more and more impatient.

Finally, Gareth sighed, took the knife, and made a small cut on his finger, pressing it down beside Raven’s blood signature.

–Vooooom~

The scroll suddenly floated into the air, glowing with a bright golden light. It split into two small orbs that shot toward Gareth and Raven, entering their bodies in a flash.

"!!" "!!!"

Both of them stiffened as the magic took effect. Raven felt a strange pressure in her chest—just for a moment—before it vanished.

Satisfied that the contract had worked, Eren took the knife back and, with a smooth motion, sliced through the ropes binding Raven to the tree.

–Slice.

As the ropes fell to the ground, Raven stood still in a daze, her face blank with disbelief.

"You’re free now," Eren said casually. "Go say hello to your new husband, MILK." frёeωebɳovel.com

His sarcastic tone made Gareth instantly cover his face in embarrassment.

"Please... don’t say that," he muttered under his breath.

Eren chuckled with a lazy, half mocking laugh and walked away, his maid following behind him.

The remaining knights exchanged glances before their eyes drifted toward the stunned commander and the ex-mercenary, who was now standing upright.

"So... should I call you Master now?" Raven asked, her face looked awkward as she scratched the back of her neck while looking at him

Gareth’s expression was a deadpan.
