The Secret Obsession of the CEO-Chapter 207: A Nice Change
Liam stayed in the airport until the flight departed. She made a video call to show him his suite and showed him every single thing. She was excited about the travel.
He sent Ian a message reminding him that Rory’s flight had left LA. He didn’t answer it. Liam figured that he might be asleep considering the time difference. He hoped Ian doesn’t forget to pick her up at the airport.
When he reached home, he smiled at the messages he received from her that hour. He asked her to close her eyes and try to sleep so she won’t suffer from jetlag, but she had utilized the Wi-fi to send him messages. Most of it was about Ellie and he rolled his eyes. And some were for him.
Ah, I almost forgot about the stew she left for me...
He opened the oven and got the steaming hot stew his wife made before leaving. She even kept it in the oven to keep it warm for him.
How thoughtful...
She had prepared a stock of food for him in the refrigerator that would sustain him for at least a week. She even bought all the groceries at discount prices because she didn’t want him to waste money.
His refrigerator is stocked with food, his house is sparkly clean, his closet is filled with clean clothes with no laundry left unwashed, and the baby’s necessities are stocked in the pantry... Of course, the baby’s food needs to be freshly made and so she didn’t store much food for the baby.
He felt blessed.
Right till the end, he could see that she didn’t want to leave. But she needs it whether she agrees or not.
"Yeah, dad," he answered Frank’s call. "Yeah, I just got home after sending her off."
Liam asked about Claire and Frank said that she was fine. Their conversation didn’t even last more than a minute, and Frank didn’t even tell him that he loved him, but Liam felt the love in his tone.
Frank never changed even after knowing that Lennon was his biological father. But he heard that Frank pestered Leroy to pull some strings to have a one-on-one meeting with Lennon for half an hour.
Leroy had successfully diverted him saying that he will get a meeting before his execution. Or Leroy may truly want to let Frank meet Lennon in the future. But it is better if he does not meet Lennon for now.
"Do you want an aunt or an uncle, Ellie? I mean... you already have an uncle, so it would be better to have an aunt, right?" he picked her up from the carrycot. Ellie didn’t smile. "So, you miss your mother already?" he kissed her cheek. Ellie wrapped her arms around him.
With a sigh, Liam fed Ellie a bottle. Rory already gave her some puree and Ellie likes to drink a warm bottle of milk before her nap. He had his meal and stayed with Ellie on the bed, chatting with Rory for some time.
Maybe she fell asleep, she stopped texting after some time. He placed the phone down, and before he knew it, he fell asleep.
Ah, I miss you, Cherry.
Rory was on the plane traveling across the Atlantic, but her heart was back with her little family. She couldn’t keep calm and she wanted to tell Liam everything she sees. She saw birds flying at the same height as the airplane, she saw beautiful clouds and sunlight seeping through as if it was a gateway to heaven, and she was given a five-course meal with exquisite wine. She wanted to share everything with Liam.
She wanted him with her. But he was not. And she didn’t want to make his mood sour by telling him that she misses him already. So, since he was free to listen to her, she nagged him with everything she saw and heard.
But she fell asleep after a while. She had to be woken up by the flight attendant for breakfast. She had slept deeply without knowing what was happening around her for almost six hours. That was a record.
The moment they touched down, Rory turned off the airplane mode on her phone and dialed Liam to inform him that she had reached.
Liam tried to fall asleep, but he couldn’t. He was not used to taking naps in the afternoon and he didn’t know how he fell asleep while making sure Ellie doesn’t roll off the bed. He couldn’t sleep at night. And he was also worried that he’d miss Rory’s calls.
but even then, he had missed her texts. She had sent pictures of her breakfast and coffee. That looked pretty. The view of the sunrise from that height was also pretty. But more than that, the little heart emojis she sent made him all warm and fuzzy.
It made him realize that they didn’t text much in the past. They were together almost all the time, or they just called each other. They never had much need to text.
But texting has its joy, he had found. He decided to text her often whether it was needed or not.
Ellie cried just as he was about to reply to her. She had soiled her diapers. He changed the diaper and fed her another bottle. Usually, she’d fall asleep right after a bottle, but she was not falling asleep.
His face brightened up as Rory called him. "Your mother’s calling," he almost jumped for joy before accepting the video call.
"Hey!" Rory waved her hand. She was beyond pleased to see her husband. She took in a deep breath. "Ah! The scent of my birthplace!" she let out a pleased deep breath.
Liam chuckled.
"No kidding, Fizzy... It’s fragrant and light! I feel like I’m flying...Look at the sun. Even the sun looks pretty here with a beautiful golden hue. And the air... it’s so crisp and pleasant. I think I can smell the heather even from here... Ahhh... Heaven..." she smiled with her hands wide open not minding the others looking at her weirdly.
"How are you doing?" she asked. "Oh, wait..." she hushed her tone. "Is Ellie asleep?" she asked.
It is a morning where she is, but she can see that it’s not bright in LA. Ellie should still be asleep.
"No, I changed her diaper, and she refuses to fall asleep..." Liam said.
That sank Rory’s heart. So, as she was bussed to the terminal and throughout her baggage claim, she sang songs for Ellie to fall asleep. Ellie would close her eyes and almost fall asleep, but even a small noise would wake her up.
Liam asked her to end the call and find Ian, but she couldn’t put her mind through anything knowing that Ellie is missing her. That’s what that was. But Liam asked her to be silent and after a few minutes, Ellie fell asleep.
"I found Ian," she waved her hand at Ian standing with a banner with her name written on it. Beside him was a cute girl in a ponytail. She had beautiful skin that was smooth like glass and Rory already liked that girl with petite features.
She looked like a pure white lily with no blemishes and had the aura of the moon.
"She’s sooo cute, Fizzy! Did you see?" she focused her camera so Liam could have a good look. "Do you think that is Ian’s girlfriend? I hope she is!" she whispered. She was so excited.
"I thought you were going to rekindle something," Liam’s voice was dry. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
"Oh, shut it, Fizzy. Ian was always like a brother to me," she said. It was her true feeling.
She didn’t even end the call when she greeted Ian. And the girl was Ian’s girlfriend.
"Aww, did you hear her, Fizzy? She is Davina... Even her name is cute," she whispered.
Liam rolled his eyes. She thinks she is whispering but that girl is right in front of her. She can hear her whispers. He was embarrassed for his wife. He had never seen her going crazy like this.
At least, she is not bad-mouthing. So that’s not bad, right?
He thought Rory would go all happy seeing Ian, but he now was a little embarrassed seeing Rory crushing on Ian’s girlfriend. He could see that Rory liked that girl for her looks. He hoped that Davina doesn’t find that offensive.
He didn’t want their relationship to start on a bad foot. And he also felt weird that he was still on the call. Ian got her luggage and was walking to the front. Rory and Davina were chatting ocassionally. And he was still on the line.
He felt awkward. He ended the call, but Rory called again. Davina too was a little uncomfortable talking to her in his presence. But it looked like Rory didn’t care. She mostly was talking to him.
"I’ll call you later, Cherry," he ended the call after giving her some excuse.
Rory was happy as she was back in her homeland. She took pictures of everything. From a pigeon to a raven, from a grasshopper to a butterfly... everything. And of course, she sent it all to Liam.
