The Secret Obsession of the CEO-Chapter 211: Change In Scenery Change In Heart
"You’ve gone silent," Rory told Liam as he was staring at his hand.
She wondered if he was still thinking about the investment she made.
"Nothing," Looked at his phone. He smacked his lips. "I was wondering when I started to stop listening to you speak..." he let out a deep sigh.
"It’s fine. I did turn into a nagging wife by the time you had stopped listening to me," Rory accepted her fault. "Back then you were worried for your future...OUR future but I was so sure I should study law. You must have been so stressed thinking of ways to run our family while I was so dependent on the money my parents left me. I was under the impression that you too have it easy..."
"You were always thinking that it was OUR money, weren’t you?" Liam asked. He didn’t know if they had talked about their financials that much. But she never made him feel insecure about being poorer than her.
He did that to himself.
"Well, I did," Rory shrugged. "But I didn’t take to account that you as a man would want to stand on your own feet and provide for your family. I don’t want us to have a wealthy lifestyle. I can be happy with a simpler life too... So don’t stress yourself much. And you don’t have to make me an empress. I’d love you no matter what," she said. She wanted to make that point across.
"No..." Liam plopped on the bed on his back. His fringes fell messily on his forehead, and he ran his fingers through them to set them back.
Rory smiled. What a sight to behold!
"I was wrong to not accept your money purely out of pride. I could accept Len- that guy’s money but avoid you. It was plain stupidity. Once I got to the world, I understood that money is very important. So are connections. It would be foolish of me to not use what you are offering me. In the end, it’s for us. It’s for our family, for our children. It’s not just about me or just about you. It’s about us along with that. We forgot to find that middle ground in the past. I think that’s what we should focus on moving forward. What do you think?" Liam asked.
Rory smiled rubbing her chest. She was beyond happy to hear him say that. "Me too..." she said. She was lost for words. She was feeling so warm in her heart. It was as if she was falling in love all over again.
Falling in love... How did it feel back then?
"What are you thinking?" Liam asked. She had an alluring smile that urged him to hug her to his chest. But they are miles apart with an ocean between them. He could only sigh.
"I don’t know, Fizzy..." she giggled and showed him the scenery around her to him. "It’s all pretty, right? Maybe it’s the beauty around me... I feel... I feel like..." she patted her cheek as was blushing. She could feel her face burning up and thinking about that made her smile more.
"Hey! Turn the camera... Show me your face... I don’t want to see the f*cking trees," Liam complained. He could hear her giggles. And he knew in his heart that his wife is blushing now. "Tell me what you feel looking at my face!" he shouted.
"I am looking at your face," Rory smiled cheekily.
"I know!" He shouted. Rory smiled as she saw his desperate face turning soft. "Turn your camera so I could see your face too... Cherry darling... dear love...please..." he pouted.
Rory turned the camera. The blush she tried hard to control burst back in full force as she saw the flirty smile on his face.
"Cherry," he whispered. "You’re so beautiful. Why did you hide your face?"
She covered her face with her hand as she couldn’t take it. "Stop it, Fizzy..." she begged. "I feel..."
"What do you feel?" he hissed.
Rory peeked at her phone through the gap in her fingers. His face was magnified on the screen and his lips were pouty and glistening.
"Come on, Cherry... Tell me..." he spoke in a sing-song manner. "Tell your hubby what you feel..."
Rory clenched her jaws and composed herself. She knew he would be happy to hear what she feels. She wanted to make him happy. This man acting silly with her now has been her strength to her in the recent past. He helped her regain her sanity. He should be happy even if it was for little things.
"I feel like falling in love again," she said.
She thought his smile would widen but his face stiffened. She didn’t know what he was thinking.
"Ah!" he shouted and covered his face. "That’s not allowed! It’s illegal!"
Rory observed him. She couldn’t see a large part of his face as he was covering it with his hand. But she could see his ears. They were red.
Ah... I can’t take this cuteness...
Rory walked to a tree and sat on its root. She needed to sit down.
"You can’t be this cute..." he said after a long time. His hand was still on his face.
"I can see your blush though," Rory said. Just to tease him more.
"Yeah, look more, silly. You made me blush. Does that make you happy? You made a man with a kid blush! Be proud of yourself, vixen!" he shouted.
Ah, kid...
"Is Ellie awake?" she asked.
He still looked unfocused. She didn’t think that this little thing would leave him shaken. But then that only means that he is that desperate for her loving words. He wants to hear her speak of her love for him that much.
"Hey, Aurora..." he looked at her. "Want to date?" he asked.
"Date?" Rory asked with her eyebrows raised.
"Yeah, like regular people, you know... Date... Just...What are the rules for the first date these days? It can’t be movies and dinner, right? We are not in college. A fancy dinner, maybe?" he asked.
"First date?" Rory chuckled. She found the idea of going on a "first" date silly. They are married and have a child for goodness’ sake!
But then... if she feels like falling in love with him again, they can go on a first date too, right? That idea can’t be so farfetched.
"Maybe we can," she said. "But I don’t think I can keep my hands off of you, mister. You’d be going on a first date with a loose woman who would try to get into your pants right after dinner, in the restroom..." she winked.
Liam glared at her. "Don’t put any ideas in my head, Cherry. I am serious and I won’t be able to take it."
"Okay," Rory raised her hand in a surrendering motion. "I’m sorry. I won’t joke about it." She looked in the distance.
What will she do if Liam was in front of her then? Well, she wanted to kiss him so much. Kiss, as in a deep French kiss.
She drew in a deep breath of the fresh air hinted by the scent of autumn.
And maybe as his big rough hand caresses her cheek, she might pull him closer and kiss him all over his face.
Ah!
She let out a short breath as she felt a surge of current passing through her lower abdomen. It had been a while since she felt this feeling.
"What are you thinking?" Liam asked. He looked concerned. "Don’t be sad. You can joke about anything you want."
"No... I was not thinking about that," Rory placed her hand on her lower abdomen. Maybe her libido is coming up. Maybe the meter would reach to a high point toppling over whatever is stopping her from getting close to her husband.
She wanted to tell him that. But she didn’t want to give him any false hopes. Maybe she should imagine being with him a lot more so she could handle it when he is truly near her.
"I am happy you insisted that I come here, Fizzy. In just a day I just... I feel different. I slept a lot and I... I feel good," she said.
"That’s good," Liam said. "And hey, I meant it when I talked about going on dates. We are married, but we should go on dates so we can just...talk, you know?"
"I agree." Rory nodded her head. He makes a valid point. They should have some time for themselves too.
They talked about mundane things. Liam talked about what he is going to eat for breakfast and Rory was so glad she bothered to make food that last for some days for him. She loved watching him walk around the house scratching his abdomen.
"I have to work out," he said. "But first..." he pointed at the bathroom.
"I’ll talk to you later then," Rory tried to end the call but he was not having it.
With her hands on her cheeks, she waited for him to pick up his phone again. As she was waiting for him, she noticed Elizabeth walking in the garden. She stopped in front of a tree and then stared at a particular branch.
That tree looks familiar...
Rory had to think for some time before realizing that the tree was the same one Ian and she used to climb a lot in the past.
And the branch Elizabeth was staring at... the most favorite spot of Ian. At least, in the past.
Oh, what is going on here?
Her wandering thoughts were brought back when she heard Liam’s voice.
"What are you looking at?" he asked.
"...Nothing..." she said. She hoped it was nothing and she was seeing a lot in nothing.
