The Secret Obsession of the CEO-Chapter 227: No More To Say
Rory knew that if her grandmother let John McCullen out, that could only mean that he has secrets that would be disastrous to the security of the nation or whatever agenda they have.
So, John McCullen won’t be arrested. But she didn’t want him to stir some more sh*t.
"Oh, dear..." She heard the gentle voice of her husband behind her. "Did he anger you?" Liam wrapped his arm around her abdomen and pulled her to his chest.
"No," Rory scoffed placing her hand over his hand. She accepted his kiss on her cheek with a smile. "I just hate looking at his face, that’s all!"
"Hey!" John stood up. "What are you saying? I already paid your aunt and now you are..."
"Paid my aunt?" Rory raised her brows. She only remembered that her aunt didn’t even call or visit her although everyone knows she is there. She forgot to call her aunt too.
Did that woman make money out of my parents’ death?
"Maybe you should get your money back from her. Would help you pay your lawyers," Rory scoffed. She did not want to talk to her aunt anymore. She gave John the push to deal with Aunt Theresa himself.
"Come on. Let’s go, Fizzy. Let’s not waste our time with this hypocrite," she pulled Liam.
"Hypocrite? You call me a hypocrite?" John was not happy to see her go. "Aren’t you too hard on my son because you were affected but you are able to be happy with your husband knowing who he is only because his father killed your enemies, right? Who is the biggest hypocrite?"
Rory’s smile vanished. Liam glared at John and let go of Rory.
"What?" John wasn’t finished yet. "You made that decision for your child, didn’t you? Why can’t you spare the same courtesy for my granddaughter?" he asked.
Liam sighed. And it hurt him. It is how many people are going to look at him in the future-as Lennon’s son. He found himself feeling so guilty to face John to give him a retort. He knew he need not feel this way, but he certainly couldn’t help but feel this way.
"What an idiot!" Rory mumbled. "You are comparing my husband with your son? Do you really not see the difference between them, John? One is a murderer and a threat to society. And it is not my husband. But both have a similarity..." she paused seeing John interested. "Both have wicked psychos as fathers," She snorted.
"Come on. Let’s leave, Fizzy. This guy lowers the IQ of the entire street!" Rory held Liam’s hand and turned to leave.
Liam smiled seeing Rory smiling. He had no idea why his hot-headed wife who loves getting emotional wanted to meet that slimy b@stard only to ruin her mood. And he was glad she is the way she is. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have flutters in his heart like this often.
He was so glad to hear what she said. It is true. His father is a psycho. He does not have to claim his trait as his just because he shares his DNA. He is nothing like Lennon.
"Did you get it all out of your chest?" he asked. She probably wanted to scream stuff at him for her to heal. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have bothered with him.
"Yeah," Rory pouted. "He’s the worst. I am not going to meet with him again."
"Thank you for protecting me, love. I too will protect you," Liam patted her head and kissed her cheek. He was glad that she was back to her old self. This is how his wife should be. Carefree and causing trouble for others!
And taking his side. She always takes his side and that gives him more confidence. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
Rory and Liam spent some more time in the club. Others asked her about the meeting. Rory told them how it went. They all laughed and told her that he deserved it. They went silent for some time and Rory had a feeling that they want to ask the obvious.
She looked at Liam and he was relaxed. It looked like he was open to talking about it and so she decided to be silent. If Liam was uncomfortable, she would have found a reason to leave.
Turns out, they just wanted to know about the "Gollum" creature they met. Rory didn’t follow much of the investigations and so she didn’t know many details. Liam explained everything.
Apparently, that "creature" used to be an inmate of the mental asylum at the other end of the woods. He was identified using his dental records from when he was in custody.
He was a killer and a cannibal. He was institutionalized because he was found incompetent to stand trial. He had a load of mental health issues. When they were mandated to close the mental asylums in the late 80s, he was about to be transferred to a high-security prison, but he escaped after chewing off the throat of the officers who were transporting him.
He disappeared into the woods. The searches were abandoned after a year under the assumption that he would be dead exposed to the elements. But he had survived.
The cave that contained the remains of many people was his shelter. An investigation of those remains revealed that many of them were children and old people who got lost in the woods in the 90s and 00s.
"Mad Roberts" from Liam’s family was one of the victims too.
Apparently, that cannibal was a fan of Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings books and was very intrigued by the character "Gollum" in that book. They assume that it was the reason he assumed that role as he also ate raw meat.
Lennon talked about that creature too and said that he met him in the later years of the first decade of this century in the forest as he was looking for a hiding spot for his kills. And since the creature had turned old, he easily overpowered him and turned him into his pet.
Apparently, Lennon mentioned it as some sort of achievement to tame a cannibalistic killer as his pet.
Everyone listened to Liam keenly as he explained everything. Rory had a little fear in her heart that Liam talking about Lennon might make the men feel wary of Liam. But they didn’t treat Liam any differently.
They even called Liam a good guy.
Rory was happy that this went well. If Liam is planning on staying here and rebuilding his business in this country, he will need the support of other businessmen. And it seems like he’s gotten it.
They then excused themselves as Count Charles wanted to stay for more time with his "boys". Rory and Liam returned to the Campbell mansion for lunch. They decided to visit her parent’s grave that evening with Ellie.
Before that, they went to her home. It took some time for Rory to get used to mentioning her parents’ home as her home, but she got used to it.
And there she was... Aunt Theresa.
"The key is not working," she came running to Rory and shouted at her.
That’s the welcome she gives after not seeing each other for years. Rory thought.
"I changed the locks," Rory shrugged. "We are planning on~"
"Then open it. I have to take back my stuff from there," Aunt Theresa pulled Rory grabbing her wrist.
"Your stuff?" Rory knitted her brows. She visited the house many times and double-checked everything because her daughter might stay there. She didn’t see any of Aunt Theresa’s stuff.
"M-my mum’s stuff. She left it with your mum, and I need it back," Theresa said.
"If my grandma left it with my mum, then it is my mum’s stuff. And my mum’s stuff belongs to me," Rory said getting out of the hold of her aunt.
"What?" Theresa looked at Rory as if she didn’t understand what she was saying. "Don’t waste my time. Let’s just get inside and talk..."
"No," Rory pulled her hand. "I am sorry, Aunt Theresa. I cannot invite you to my house." Rory shook her head.
"What?" Theresa’s eyes widened as she couldn’t believe it. There were some porcelain tidbits that she had learned that are fetching a lot on eBay. Those used to belong to her mother and since she got her mother’s jewelry, her sister took those tidbits. She didn’t knew that they would become this expensive over time. Otherwise, she would have picked them over the jewelry.
It was about to be hers. It should be hers now that her sister is dead. Why should she share it? She deserves it!
"Is this how you are treating me? Do you know how much I’ve lost to maintain this house?" She asked.
"And I thank you for that. But me and my husband... We’ve decided to live in this house for a while and so we cannot~"
"Heh!" Theresa scoffed. "Is this how you are going to treat me?"
"I’m sorry, Aunt Theresa, but..."
As Rory was speaking, Theresa raised her hand to hit her.
