Chapter 156 - 156: Youth with Regret

A sudden kiss.

John Lopez was completely stunned.

Alice Moon was also taken aback.

When she snapped back to her senses, she quickly pulled out her phone and captured the moment, ensuring she had evidence on hand.

This is the perfect opportunity! Big sis always keeps an eye on me and nags every day. Finally, they'll help me share the burden... Hahahah... Alice thought with amusement.

Kate Williams released John Lopez and turned to Bob Redman, a smug smile playing on her lips. "Now do you believe me?"

"You didn't have to go this far, Kate!" Bob Redman shook his head in disbelief.

He could clearly see that Kate Williams was intentionally provoking him. The madman who claimed to be the King of Horizon was nothing more than a pawn in her game.

Even so, as he witnessed the kiss between Kate and John, a flicker of coldness passed through his eyes.

However, he managed to restrain his emotions, unwilling to reveal his anger.

"I know you're still upset about that. The truth is, it was a misunderstanding between Jessica and me," Bob Redman began, attempting to explain himself.

Jessica Patel was one of Kate's closest friends, and the one who had stolen Bob from Kate years ago.

Bob continued, "Back then, I was pursuing you, but you never responded. It was Jessica who told me you weren't interested, so I let go. It wasn't until I broke up with her that I found out the truth."

"Misunderstanding? How absurd..." Kate Williams' heart ached, but she sneered bitterly. "You think a misunderstanding excuses everything? You and my best friend... You think that's normal?"

"At the time, I truly believed you weren't interested. So, I gave up. Plus, Jessica comforted me every day. But now, I've come to realize that losing you is my greatest regret. Kate, please... give me another chance."

Bob Redman's voice was tinged with hope as he gazed at Kate, waiting for an answer.

The woman fell silent.

It turned out that Jessica Patel had been the one who stood in the way.

But could Bob Redman truly redeem himself after all this time?

Kate Williams was quiet for a long moment. She took a deep breath before responding, "Thank you for telling me the truth, but it's in the past now. We should look forward, not cling to what's already gone, don't you think?"

Everyone has regrets in their youth. It's precisely because of these regrets that youth holds the beauty of nostalgia.

The people and things we missed back then are best kept buried deep in our hearts, only to be recalled in moments of reflection. Trying to undo them would only distort the precious memories, perhaps even destroying everything.

Kate Williams felt a sense of closure.

But Bob Redman wasn't ready to let go. "Actually, we can start over, Kate..."

"You don't need to say anything more. If you keep going, all you'll do is worsen my memories of the past, and my impression of you will only worsen," she replied firmly.

Before Bob could respond, Kate Williams stood up and pulled John Lopez away.

Alice Moon, who had been eavesdropping nearby, sighed. Her little sister had truly grown up. This was the best way to handle things—facing the past, laying everything out, and letting it go with the wind.

This was what maturity looked like.

I hope this Bob Redman finally comes to his senses. Otherwise, as a cultivator now... Alice thought.

Casting one last glance at Bob Redman, Alice followed Kate and John out of the café.

A while later, a middle-aged man entered.

Bob Redman's cold voice rang out, "Help me kill that brat."

Kate Williams felt relieved, but Bob Redman was far from satisfied. Seeing Kate again today, so beautiful as ever, made him feel like he had returned to their college days—the time when he had first met her.

He hadn't felt such a crush in years.

So, whether John Lopez was a pawn or not, the fact that he had kissed Kate was unforgivable. He had to pay the price.

Bob Redman couldn't leave any loose ends.

Mason White, the middle-aged man, frowned upon hearing Bob's request. "Young Master Bob, don't forget why we're here in New York."

"Of course, I remember. We came to find that highly skilled doctor to treat Grandpa. As long as we pay enough, he'll come with us..." Bob Redman said impatiently, his attention divided.

Seeing the serious expression on Mason White's face, Bob reluctantly agreed. "Fine, Mason. We'll get the doctor first, then deal with that brat afterward. How about that?"

Mason White nodded in approval.

"Where is this skilled doctor?" Bob inquired.

"Feazer Medical Clinic."

"Feazer Medical Clinic, huh? I hope he's as good as they say. Otherwise, we may have wasted our time coming all the way here. In that case, I'll make sure his clinic is destroyed," Bob threatened, his tone laced with arrogance.

"Young Master, just remember, we're here asking for his help," Mason White reminded him.

"I know, I know. I'll be careful," Bob Redman replied impatiently, but he didn't seem to take the warning seriously. As long as he offered enough money, he was confident the doctor wouldn't refuse.

Mason White shook his head, silently disagreeing with Bob's approach. Soon, they arrived at Feazer Medical Clinic.

Inside, when Bob saw an old man sitting behind the counter, he immediately stepped forward. "Are you the famous doctor of New York?"

Holbrook Davis looked up, momentarily stunned, then shook his head. "No, I'm not the one you're looking for. My mentor is the one you're after."

"Then get him out here right now!" Bob demanded harshly.

A trace of displeasure crossed Holbrook's face. The young man's tone was overly harsh, especially considering he needed the help of the doctor. Holbrook's voice grew colder. "He's not here. You can come back another day."

"Don't you have a phone? Call him!" Bob Redman snapped.

Before Holbrook could respond, Mason White stepped in, his tone polite but firm. "Doctor, please contact your mentor. We urgently need his help."

Holbrook's expression softened as he nodded. "I'll try to reach him."

After a brief phone conversation, Holbrook looked at the two men. "My mentor is occupied right now. You can tell me your issue, and if it's urgent, he'll come right away. If not, please wait a moment, or I can assist you myself."

"Wait? What kind of doctor is he? This is absurd. Tell him we'll pay any price. Get him here now!" Bob Redman barked, his impatience evident.

Holbrook paused for a moment before handing the phone to Mason White. After a brief exchange, Mason relayed the message. "He's not coming. He says you can wait, or you can leave."

Bob Redman clenched his fists in frustration, his anger rising once more.

"Tell them I'm not free. There's no use in waiting for me," John Lopez's voice crackled over the phone.
