Chapter 582 -32 Targeting_2
“I sincerely invite you to become my aide-de-camp, and you need not worry about the remuneration. This position should be quite an improvement from being a librarian, and it comes with a certain status,” Miss Elizabeth said to Xu Mo.
Xu Mo was somewhat surprised. It seemed that Miss Elizabeth had taken his words to heart and was changing. She no longer exhibited her previous arrogance and haughtiness but was earnestly trying to win him over, even looking to recruit aides.
She had realized something.
Miss Elizabeth hadn’t slept at all last night. Indeed, she had come to a realization. Being a member of the Royal Family, her fate was, in some ways, even more difficult to control than that of ordinary people. Prince Charles held great animosity towards her, and if she didn’t fight for herself, her fate would be manipulated by him.
Therefore, she could only fight to survive.
Just as her mentor had said, they still had much time. Her father could remain in power for many more years, giving her time to grow.
Now, it was time to start preparing. Otherwise, the gap between her and Prince Charles would only widen as his power grew.
Xu Mo looked at Miss Elizabeth and said, “Thank you, Miss Elizabeth, for the high regard. However, I really like my job at the library and am not considering other options at the moment.”
“Fine, leave a contact number then,” Miss Elizabeth said. “If you change your mind, you can contact me anytime.”
“Okay.” Xu Mo nodded, and the two exchanged contact numbers.
Zero quietly watched the whole time, blinking his eyes.
After Miss Elizabeth left, Xu Mo said, “Considering she has changed, let’s give her a chance.”
Zero didn’t respond to him and continued reading his book, as if in agreement.
…
The Blue Star Energy Technology Group was also encountering trouble—they had come to Lucas University for recruitment today as usual.
But now, a group of people from the university had arrived to expel the representatives from the Blue Star Energy Technology Group.
“Our company has completed all formalities correctly to recruit at Lucas University. May I ask what rules have we violated?” Ye Qingdie addressed the group of people in front of her courteously, not wishing to incite conflict.
Many students gathered around, whispering and speculating. They knew the company involved Miss Elizabeth—why were they being expelled?
“Your company’s qualifications do not meet the standard, and your entry into Lucas University has been through improper means. The previous recruitment is therefore invalid, and Lucas University prohibits your further entry,” a middle-aged man with glasses said sternly.
Ross watched from the side, sensing that an offence had been made.
Otherwise, expulsion wouldn’t be possible.
“Teacher, I’m also a student at Lucas University. Our group is in a rapid development phase, and we are about to release technological products. Could you please reconsider?” Ross stepped forward and pleaded.
“No need. We will follow the rules. Please wrap this up quickly,” the middle-aged man said with a frown.
Ross knew further attempts were futile upon hearing the man’s response.
“Let go. I can leave by myself,” Xiao Qi snapped angrily, muttering, “I thought Lucas University was something special, but it turns out to be just this—a betrayal of trust.”
“What did you say?” The other party barked back, and a heated argument ensued.
“Talk less,” Ye Qingdie scolded, the situation growing chaotic. At that moment, Ross received a communicator call. His brows furrowed deeply, and his expression flickered.
“Understood, Mr. Stark, thank you for your efforts,” Ross said after picking up the call. He then disconnected the communicator and quickly sent messages to Miss Elizabeth, Ize, and others before moving aside to dial Xu Mo’s number.
In the library, Xu Mo received Ross’s message. After learning about the situation, he frowned and told Ross, “Return first. Cancel the recruitment, and have the group submit to an official investigation. Also, inform Miss Elizabeth and Sorey about this.”
“The message has been conveyed,” Ross said.
“Good.”
After hanging up the communicator, Xu Mo’s gaze carried a trace of chill. He hadn’t expected Prince Charles to act so swiftly; it seemed the events of the previous night had really irked him, and he had begun to comprehensively suppress Miss Elizabeth’s power—Blue Star Energy Technology Group had been affected as well.
Not only had their recruitment been expelled here, but the group had also encountered some trouble on their side.
This was not a good sign; if they grew larger in the future, the troubles would likely become even bigger. Since that was the case, retaliation was necessary—to give the aggressors a headache so that they wouldn’t dare to easily strike at them in the future.
Soon after, Sorey and Yekaterina arrived at the library to find Xu Mo.
“What’s the situation?” Sorey and Yekaterina asked, “Who is targeting us?”
“It’s aimed at Miss Elizabeth; it must be Prince Charles’s doing,” Xu Mo replied.
“Is the Prince so arrogant already? What would happen if he were to ascend to the throne later?” Sorey said indignantly but still kept his voice low.
“What should we do next?” Yekaterina asked, even thinking about investigating the company on that side.
“Sorey, Odin Mountain Star is an energy planet, and you do not partake in any disputes, maintaining friendly relations with all the major stars. No one wants to offend you, and Lucas Star is the same. Prince Charles is a member of the Royal Family, and so are you. Moreover, he’s the heir, constrained by many things and needs to consider the impact, whereas you do not need to be concerned. Miss Elizabeth cannot step forward in this matter, but you can,” Xu Mo said.
“What do you mean?” Sorey’s eyes widened.
“Make a fuss about it, and make it big. We’ve done nothing wrong, so what’s there to fear? Charles won’t dare escalate things, and it will eventually be settled quietly,” Xu Mo said.
“Understood,” Sorey replied, “Damn it, they dare to block my big plans—I will create a commotion at the school, and additionally, have the embassy cause a stir.”
Xu Mo gave a thumbs up, admiring his quick understanding.
“I’m in as well,” Yekaterina said.
“And there are our partners. Additionally, before that, first check the other recruitment companies entering Lucas University, see who is less qualified than us. If there’s one, focus on that point—why they are only targeting us,” Xu Mo spoke, “You all are student entrepreneurs from Lucas University; the school should naturally give you preferential treatment.”
“Got it,” Sorey nodded, “I’ll get people in on this.”
“How will you do that?” Xu Mo asked.
“Money!” Sorey said.
“……” Xu Mo sighed, Sorey’s comprehension in such matters was indeed very high.
In the Extraordinary Department, the Royal Academy’s recruitment continued as usual—not something that could be finished in one day. Since Charles was the person in charge, he was still there.
At this moment, Charles’s communicator vibrated. He glanced at it, and a touch of cool detachment appeared in his gaze.
He had no initial plans to target Elizabeth’s company. He didn’t think much of a tiny energy company; it couldn’t stir up much trouble.
But the incident last night had vexed him. Not only had Elizabeth recruited Ize and Carter, but she also had strong guards at her side. Was she aiming for the position of the heir?
How could Charles let Elizabeth succeed? From now on, he would keep an eye on her, ensuring she wouldn’t accomplish anything she set out to do.
At that moment, several figures approached; Elizabeth, Carter, and Ize had all come here. Today, however, Elizabeth did not sit next to Charles but kept her distance.
She didn’t even look at Charles, her face frosty. Ross had already informed her about the incident with Blue Star Energy Technology Group. Since she owned a share of the company, Charles had even targeted the group, and her shares had inadvertently implicated the company.
This incident had further solidified Elizabeth’s resolve, since Charles had been so unrighteous, then she had no choice but to choose the path she commits to from now on!
