Chapter 395: Time To Go Inside

Amon’s body was thrown violently through the air toward the tower.

Everything around him blurred.

Malphas had thrown him into the air, and then the force of the explosion sent him flying even farther like a broken arrow, his body spinning uncontrollably as the wind roared past his ears.

"Gah!"

He clenched his teeth and immediately reacted.

Shadow and darkness surged from beneath his feet, wrapping around his body like a protective layer.

The black energy hardened around him, forming a rough shield just moments before impact.

CRASH!

His body slammed straight into a tree. The trunk cracked loudly under the force.

BOOM! 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

The impact did not stop there.

The shockwave from the earlier explosion reached the forest, spreading violently across the area. Dust, debris, and broken branches were swept into the air.

The ground trembled.

Several nearby trees shattered and fell, unable to withstand the force.

A massive cloud of smoke and dust rose upward, spreading across the battlefield like a dark storm. It looked like a mushroom cloud.

Amon’s body fell from the broken tree and hit the ground.

THUD!

For a moment, he did not move.

"Haa... haa..."

His breathing was rough. His vision was blurred. His head felt like it was spinning.

Slowly, the shadow around his body began to fade, slipping back beneath him like liquid.

The darkness disappeared, leaving him exposed now. He could smell the burning scent from the explosion.

"Damn it..."

He pushed himself up with one hand, his muscles screaming in pain.

His entire body ached from the fall. His ribs hurt. His head felt heavy. But he still forced himself to stand.

He lifted his head and looked forward, toward the place where Malphas and that giant monster were fighting.

And what he saw made his expression freeze.

A massive column of dark gray smoke was rising into the sky.

It was not normal smoke. It was thick and heavy. It looked almost alive.

Like black mushrooms blooming in the air.

The smoke gathered in one place, swirling and rising higher and higher into the already dark gray sky above the forest.

"Is that thing dead? Is Malphas alive?"

Amon muttered under his breath. His eyes still held some tears.

The battlefield had changed again. He took a step forward but immediately staggered.

"Tch..."

His body was tired. Amon leaned back against a broken tree nearby, using it to support himself.

"Haa... haa..."

His breathing echoed faintly in the chaos.

From here, he could see the tower more clearly now. He had been thrown much closer to it.

The massive black structure stood silently in the distance, its surface covered in runes that faintly reflected the dim light around it.

The air felt heavy and oppressive.

Amon tilted his head slightly upward, staring at the rising smoke. His instincts were screaming again.

Amon pushed himself and started to walk toward the tower.

’Malphas... he will not be alive after that explosion...’ he thought while gritting his teeth.

"We will escape... we will escape from here, Malphas... no matter what it takes..." Amon muttered under his breath as his eyes filled with determination.

Near the tower, trees were broken. The ground was shattered. The scent of burned flesh could be smelled.

Near the side of the tower lay a huge black-skinned monster. Its body was wounded and burned. Black blood streamed down from huge cuts.

’It is dead... it is actually dead...then... where is Scarlett?’ Amon started to look around to find Scarlett.

Just a few meters away, he saw her leaning against the wall of the tower.

"Scarlett!" Amon dashed toward her.

Stopping in front of her, he saw her condition. Her armor was broken. The black leotard outfit she was wearing underneath was also tattered. Her face was filled with bruises and swollen. Blood was coming down from her half-lidded eyes like tears.

Her hair was dirty from the soil and dust. It was mixed with the black blood of the monster.

Deep wounds were on her shoulder and arms.

Amon knelt beside her.

"Scarlett! Are you okay? Look at me!" He patted her cheek.

She slowly raised her head and looked at his face.

"A-Amon... you are still alive?" Her voice was low and heavy. It sounded tired and exhausted. Yet their was relief.

"Yes, I am. Are you okay?" He asked worriedly.

"Yes... I am... I just lost some blood..." she said slowly as her half-lidded amethyst eyes watched Amon.

"Damn. Come drink mine so you can heal faster." He told her urgently.

Scarlett did not refuse him. She just nodded.

Amon gave her his hand. He opened the forearm part of his arm and brought it to her mouth.

Her amethyst eyes started to glow blood red. She opened her bloodied mouth. Her two pointy teeth extended like fangs.

She bit into his arm and slowly started to drink his blood.

Amon sat beside her, waiting for her to drink as much as she wanted.

Then his face turned toward the place where that explosion had occurred.

Trees were broken, so the sight was clear. The huge mushroom like smoke had slightly subsided. It was visible now. What was there.

There lay a giant dead body, fully burned. Some parts of it had turned into ashes.

"That one is also dead." Amon said while looking at that place.

"Yes... it seems that Malphas was able to kill it."

Another voice spoke. Amon looked in the direction where it came from. Mark was walking toward him. The spear in his hand was supporting his body.

He was battered and injured, though not as much as Scarlett.

"Uncle Mark, are you okay?"

"Yes, I am." He paused, then looked at the place where the smoke had disappeared and the dead monster lay. "Where is Malphas?"

At that question, Amon went silent.

Scarlett, who was drinking his blood, stopped and took her mouth away from his arm. Her complexion looked better than before.

"What happened, Amon? Where is Malphas?"

"He... he is no more..." Amon’s voice shook.

"He said... he would not be alive after using what he needed to kill that monster..." Amon said with a trembling voice.

Both Mark and Scarlett became silent.

Mark clenched his teeth. His grip tightened on his spear.

Scarlett covered her face with one hand. Clearly not good after hearing those words.

Amon exhaled slowly and stood up. "You two should rest here. Those two abominations are dead. I will go inside the tower to deactivate it."
