The Soft-Hearted Wife of Mr. Big Shot-Chapter 139: The Little Girl Is Unhappy
"The company has been quite busy lately."
Nora Jennings took a deep breath and gently bit her lip, looking at Leo Grant as she spoke.
The company has been busy lately, and Holly Sawyer is casually approving documents. Don’t you get upset about that?
"I know, I don’t need you to remind me."
Leo Grant’s voice was cold as he looked at Nora coldly, not quite understanding what Nora meant.
The company is very busy, and he’s more aware of that than anyone; he doesn’t need Nora’s reminder.
"Miss Sawyer... will delay Mr. Grant’s time."
Nora looked at Holly with an ambiguous expression as she spoke slowly, her tone light.
Though her words seemed quite inappropriate, she felt compelled to speak.
She really couldn’t understand why Leo, such a steady person, would like someone like Holly, who seemed soft and delicate, like a timid little rabbit on the surface.
Holly appeared as if she couldn’t assist Leo at all.
"What do you mean by ’like this’?"
Upon hearing Nora criticize Holly, Leo’s expression immediately changed. He looked at Nora coldly.
No matter what, he wouldn’t allow anyone to speak of his girl that way—not only him.
"Mr. Grant, I..."
Realizing Leo was angry, Nora immediately swallowed the words she wanted to say.
She dared not continue.
She had mentioned it briefly outside; Leo hadn’t said a word, but his expression had clearly changed, becoming somewhat icy.
It seemed Leo really pampered Holly, even if she caused trouble for him, he wouldn’t scold her.
Leo looked coldly at Nora.
"Mr. Grant, I’ll be leaving then."
Nora hurriedly left, not daring to bring up anything about Holly, fearing Leo might flip out.
The boss’s woman probably is really untouchable.
"Hmm, she wanted to speak badly about me."
Holly sat on the chair, her eyes full of amusement, as she looked at Leo and spoke.
Indeed, Nora wanted to speak ill of her.
She probably wanted to see her being scolded by Leo.
"My little girl is so cute, so lovable. How could she think of speaking ill of her?"
Leo laughed, gently ruffling Holly’s hair, his voice particularly light.
In his heart, Holly was always the best, without exception.
"Am I really that good in your eyes?"
Holly folded her arms, and her gaze towards Leo was full of smiles.
Hmm, it didn’t matter how others viewed her; she only cared about how she appeared in the eyes of those important to her.
There are many people in the world, and you don’t always need to care about their opinions.
"Yes, the world’s best Holly is Leo’s Holly."
Leo looked at Holly affectionately, the smile on his lips exceptionally tender, and his gaze seemed to be filled with stardust, sparkling.
He thought Holly was great; no matter what, in his heart, she was always perfect.
When you love someone, their flaws can truly become virtues.
"Did you take a class?"
Holly’s eyes curved as she tilted her head to look at Leo.
Hmm, Leo really spoke so charmingly that she suspected he might have secretly taken lessons on sweet talk.
Leo raised an eyebrow: "What class?"
Leo didn’t quite understand Holly’s comment, looking at her with some confusion.
"Why are you so good with words?"
Holly blinked her eyes playfully at Leo.
Hmm, Leo seemed to be getting better at sweet-talking her, with every word specifically pleasing to her.
"Because I want the little girl to be happy."
Leo slightly curled his lips, looking at Holly with extreme tenderness.
As long as the little girl was happy, that was enough.
"By the way, the previous topic got sidetracked."
Holly extended her hand to lightly hit Leo, pouting her lips in dissatisfaction.
Leo puzzled: "Hmm?"
Probably not?
"She spoke against me, I’m unhappy."
Holly folded her arms and spoke unhappily.
She wasn’t a very generous person; she was quite petty actually. She didn’t like people pointing fingers at her.
People could say she wasn’t doing things right, but shouldn’t sarcastically say she was incapable. Nonetheless, she disliked Nora’s tone.
"Who talked about you?"
Leo didn’t immediately understand, looking at Holly with curiosity.
"The one who just left."
Holly blinked as she spoke.
She didn’t know Nora Jennings’ name.
"Nora? What did she say about you?"
Leo looked at Holly with confusion, eyebrow furrows showing incomprehension.
Everyone in the company knew about Holly, and they understood Holly’s identity. All of Grant’s employees treated her courteously.
Nora dared to criticize Holly?
Leo had already expressed his attitude toward Holly. The people at the company couldn’t wait to curry favor with her—who would dare to admonish Holly?
"She said I doodled on your documents and that I was adding to your burden."
"It was nothing at first, but her sarcasm particularly upset me."
Holly turned her face away, her cheeks puffed up, displaying a sulking expression.
Hmm, really upset, extremely upset.
"How can my Holly be happy again?"
Leo crouched in front of Holly, his large hand gently smoothing Holly’s hair, his voice tender and doting.
The impression he had of Nora was now at an all-time low. Initially thinking she was efficient with a great future ahead, now he found it unnecessary.
Between talent and Holly, he’d surely choose Holly.
The heart is biased, naturally favoring the one you love the most. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
"What do you think?"
Holly countered.
"Then, shall we fire her? Wouldn’t that be good?"
Leo softly coaxed Holly.
The little girl’s happiness is all that matters; nothing else is important.
"It doesn’t have to be that petty."
Holly lightly shook her head.
She only said she was unhappy and that Nora had upset her, but she didn’t believe firing someone was necessary.
It would be over-the-top, and people would think she was pretentious.
"Does she have much potential for advancement?"
Holly seemed to have thought of something, a sly smile appearing on her lips.
Leo: "Quite a lot."
"Then, why don’t we make it less so, wouldn’t that be great?"
Holly lightly blinked her eyes, her expression playful.
Hmm, maybe this would indeed make Nora feel bad.
Nora accused her of getting favorable treatment, so she might as well show it off just to spite her; otherwise, it wouldn’t do justice to Nora’s words.
Leo nodded: "Okay."
Whatever the little girl says goes, and he wouldn’t deny it.
