The Soft-Hearted Wife of Mr. Big Shot-Chapter 67: Letting Go
"Auntie is not feeling well, I’m sorry for the inconvenience."
Wendy Wright wiped away her tears and said slowly.
Regarding Holly’s identity, Wendy wasn’t aware, and Nancy Miller’s name, Wendy clearly didn’t notice.
"Auntie, it’s not worth it."
Holly’s voice was plain and she looked at Wendy speaking.
Just a man, not worth it.
Nicely put it’s deep affection, harshly, it’s stupidity.
Wendy looked at Holly puzzled, then shifted her gaze to Nancy Miller’s face.
Nancy Miller said nothing.
Then, the door was pushed open, and Miles Miller rushed in anxiously.
"Wendy..."
He called out urgently.
Wendy turned her head, avoiding looking at Miles, afraid she might cry out, her heart indeed feeling quite uncomfortable.
"Cindy, what are you doing here?"
Miles noticed Holly’s presence, he stiffly turned back to look at Holly, his mind was a mix of emotions.
Holly did not respond.
Cindy?
Chloe Miller?
Miles and his ex-wife Rose Sawyer’s daughter?
Wendy looked at Holly, startled, when she knew nothing, she saw nothing, but now she felt Holly increasingly resembled Rose.
"You... are you Chloe?"
Wendy pointed at Holly, her fingertips trembling a bit.
Holly was clearly Nancy’s friend, she clearly said her name was Holly.
"Auntie, let me introduce myself. My former name was Chloe, my current name is Holly."
Holly slightly curved her lips, speaking calmly.
"However, my father is no longer here, and whether here or not makes no essential difference."
Then, Holly changed her tone, her gaze looking at Miles, a coldness in her eyes.
She was just saying, she didn’t recognize Miles as her father, nor would she.
"Cindy, how can you speak like this?"
Miles furrowed his brow, traces of anger between his brow.
He was standing right in front of Holly, yet Holly said such words, he couldn’t possibly be devoid of emotion.
Holly: "Speaking normally."
"Talk among yourselves, Nancy and I will go upstairs."
Holly grabbed Nancy’s hand, choosing to head upstairs.
Miles and Wendy’s matters should be resolved between them, outsiders cannot intervene.
Nancy bit her lip tightly, looking at Wendy, still following Holly upstairs.
"Sister..."
In the room, Nancy sat on the bed, feeling somewhat uneasy.
Her emotions were rather mixed.
"It’s okay."
Holly gently patted Nancy’s hand.
She didn’t know how to offer comforting words.
"Sister, do you still want your things?"
Nancy looked around her room, gently biting her lip.
Holly’s things left behind were all still here, wondering if Holly still needed them.
"Throw them away."
Holly’s voice was calm, without any fluctuations.
Those things were in the past, she didn’t need them, and there was nothing worth remembering.
Nancy nodded: "Okay."
From downstairs came the sound of "clang clang", the crisp sound of hard objects hitting the ground; Holly and Nancy hurriedly opened the door and went down.
"Miles, let’s get a divorce."
Wendy’s voice was filled with sobbing, almost shouting.
"Wendy, calm down, we can discuss this matter."
"Calm down? How can you ask me to calm down?"
"We don’t have to divorce, I can arrange for her and the child to go abroad."
"The company belongs to Nancy, can you accept this?"
"Wendy, Nancy is a girl..."
"Then, let’s get divorced."
Wendy seemed exhausted, she finished speaking and her strength seemed to fail, Nancy quickly stepped forward to support Wendy.
Divorce, those two words from her mother’s mouth, required such courage.
"No..."
"My mom said she wanted a divorce."
When Miles wanted to speak, Nancy directly interrupted, her voice unusually cold.
"I do not agree."
Miles immediately refused, being divorced once already, doing it again seemed quite unlucky.
Wendy was his first love, even if he didn’t like her as much as before, there were still feelings.
This divorce, he couldn’t agree to it.
"Auntie, do you really want a divorce?"
Holly tucked her hands into her pockets, tilted her head looking at Wendy, a sincere glow in her eyes.
If Wendy answered yes, she could handle it.
Wendy looked up at Holly, nodding.
Yes, divorce.
Holly: "I’ll help you."
"Cindy, are you taking revenge on me?"
Miles looked at Holly in shock, his mind filled with astonishment.
No matter if Holly could do it or not, her saying this made Miles feel quite heartbroken.
Holly was his daughter!
"You’re not worth my revenge, I just hope to free Auntie from misery."
Holly slowly spoke.
Marriage is essentially a grave; whether you want to dig up to live again or bury yourself, it comes down to your choice, others can give advice but cannot dictate it.
When you can’t feel happiness, there’s truly no need to be bound together; perhaps separation allows for rediscovered joy.
"Nancy, I’m leaving now, call me if anything comes up."
The phone in her pocket suddenly rang; Holly glanced at it, finding it was Leo Grant’s call, she turned to Nancy and said a word, then hurriedly left.
——
"Holly, where did you run off to play, hmm?"
Leo Grant sat in the living room waiting for Holly, watching the young girl panting as she ran in, his voice unbelievably gentle.
The girl’s cheeks were rosy, exuding a special kind of cute.
"Went out to play with friends."
Holly blinked, speaking slowly.
Hmm, she didn’t know why Leo was calling her back; it was odd.
"Here, for you."
Like performing a magic trick, Leo pulled out a delicate gift bag from behind him and handed it to Holly.
"What is it?"
For an instant, Holly was puzzled; she curiously opened the bag to find it filled with food items.
She blinked; hmm, it’s all food.
"It’s all white peach oolong flavored, do you like it?"
Leo’s voice was gentle and warm, tinged with affection.
The things the young girl liked, he had to arrange them. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
The young girl’s favorites were quite simple, merely things to eat.
"I like it."
Holly grinned, the bag was full, with plenty of snacks.
Leo mentioned it was her favorite flavor; Holly’s mood improved greatly, knowing it was thoughtfully prepared by Leo.
"Glad you like it."
Watching the young girl’s happy demeanor, Leo felt particularly good.
As long as she was happy, he’d be happy too.
