The Spoilt Beauty And Her Beasts-Chapter 518: No, you are not fine, you are stupid
The sound of bone hitting stone echoed violently in the cavern. Isabella’s heart jumped into her throat.
He fell onto one knee, one hand bracing the ground. His body curled forward slightly as he choked, a raw sound tearing from his throat.
Then he spat.
Thick black blood splattered across the ground. Dark. Viscous. Ugly. It oozed down his chin, dripping onto his chest in sick streaks.
Isabella gasped, her entire body jolting.
Her fan clattered from her hand without her noticing. She rushed forward, dress dragging behind her in a swirl of fabric and panic.
Her voice cracked on his name.
"Osiris. Osiris. How are you feeling. What is wrong. Talk to me."
He lifted his head slowly.
Too slowly.
His eyes were dimmer now. The glowing marks across his skin pulsed faintly like dying embers. Sweat clung to his hairline. His lips parted as if he were about to speak.
He looked anything but fine.
He looked like he was one breath away from collapsing entirely.
She reached out to touch his shoulder, her hand shaking so much she barely recognized it as hers. Her eyes widened further as she leaned in, terrified, breathless, barely breathing at all.
"Osiris, please. Say something. Tell me what hurts. Tell me where. Tell me what happened."
Osiris raised his hand.
Slowly.
Shakily.
His fingers brushed her wrist.
His grip tightened just barely.
He pulled her closer with surprising strength for someone who could barely stay upright.
His eyes lifted to hers.
His voice came out broken, rough, jagged with pain.
"I’m fine."
Isabella froze when he said it.
He said it so calmly.
So softly.
So stupidly.
Her eye twitched so hard she felt it in her jaw.
"No, you are not fine," she snapped immediately, voice rising as she grabbed his shoulder again. "You are stupid. That is what you are. I can tell. What do you mean you’re fine? You are literally spitting demon blood onto the floor. Who even does that. Who spits that color?"
Osiris blinked up at her.
Slow.
Confused.
Dazed.
He looked like a large overheated bird seeing the world for the first time after being smacked with a rock.
Isabella groaned into her hands.
She was really worried now.
Terrified actually.
And she did not do well with terror. It made her dramatic, it made her loud, it made her want to punch things and cry while doing it. She could feel the dark hour inching closer. The sky outside would shift soon. She did not want to sleep in this hell cave. She did not want to give birth here (she’s being dramatic). She did not want to die here. She did not want Osiris to die here either even though he was being unbelievably useless.
She lifted her head, stared at him again, then stood up abruptly.
"Bubu," she whispered inside her mind, trying not to hyperventilate. "Scan him. Scan everything. Tell me what the hell is going on."
The system hummed.
A faint glow shimmered over Osiris’s body.
"Isabella," the system said calmly, "there are several issues present."
Her stomach dropped.
"What issues."
"Multiple internal burns. Magical corrosion. Residual dark energy contamination. Severe physical strain. Fire pathways destabilized. Abnormal pulse patterns. Stamina depletion."
Isabella’s mouth fell open.
"What the hell. That is not issues. That is a whole list of ways to die."
Osiris blinked again. "What are you talking abou—"
"Not you," she snapped at him, waving a hand. "I am yelling at the air."
He stared at her like she was losing her mind. She kinda was.
She inhaled sharply.
Then asked the question she never thought she would ask.
"Bubu... is there anything in my shop... that can help him."
Of all people.
Him.
She hated that she cared.
The system paused. "Yes. Two main items."
She sighed loudly through her teeth. "Of course. Why only two. What are they."
She spoke entirely in her head but Osiris could see the way her eyes glazed and narrowed and widened, switching every two seconds. He frowned gently, confused, exhausted, and probably wondering if she was finally having the mental breakdown he assumed she would have on day one.
The system delivered the results.
Isabella focused on the first one.
The price hit her so hard she physically flinched.
Then the second.
She nearly cried.
"Bubu," she whispered despairingly. "These are over four hundred points each. What do you mean this is what he needs. Are you sure. Are you absolutely sure."
The system repeated in that annoyingly calm voice.
"If you want him to heal quickly and remain alive, it is recommended. His condition is unstable. Without intervention, the risk of further decline is significant."
Isabella’s soul left her body.
"Remain alive," she repeated. "If I do not buy it he may die."
Osiris tilted his head at her. "What are you saying. Why are you looking at me like I am already dead."
"SHUT UP," she shouted at him reflexively.
He blinked.
She let out a frustrated groan that echoed through the cavern. It was the sound of a woman who had accepted her fate. The sound of a pregnant, exhausted, financially robbed individual who was about to go broke to save a man she did not even like.
"Fine," she hissed. "Fine. I will buy the stupid things."
The points drained from her balance with a dramatic little chime that felt like a slap.
A moment later, two items materialized beside her in bursts of soft blue light. One glowed faintly like an enchanted vial. The other had the shape of a compact tool wrapped in runic lines.
Isabella stared at them both like they personally insulted her ancestors.
Osiris stared too.
"How did they come out of thin air," he asked weakly. "What is happening."
He wasn’t even surprised anymore. She always had things appear out of nowhere. He simply accepted it with the defeated expression of a man who had given up understanding her.
Isabella looked from one item to the other.
She felt broke.
Emotionally.
Spiritually.
Financially.
She pointed at them with a glare.
In her mind she hissed, "You both better be worth it."
