Chapter 663: Chapter 663: A higher-ranking village has arrived

"I want to take a walk"

The room went quiet again.

Isabella turned and stared at him.

That question had come out of nowhere.

Osiris instantly looked uncomfortable under her gaze, as if he regretted speaking the moment the words left his mouth.

However, after a second, he forced himself to continue, "You have been moving around too much. Every time I come back, you are walking somewhere, standing somewhere, doing something. Can you not sit still for one day?"

Isabella nearly dropped the fruit in her hand.

She looked so shocked that Cyrus and Zyran both turned to Osiris.

Osiris also realized what he had just said.

His whole body stiffened.

Then Isabella put a hand on her chest and asked dramatically, "You care?"

Osiris’s face turned red so quickly that it was honestly impressive.

"I always cared," he blurted out.

The moment the words came out, the room became quiet.

Even Zyran stopped smiling for a second.

Osiris looked as though he wanted to bite off his own tongue.

Meanwhile, Isabella was staring at him with wide eyes.

Then, very slowly, a wicked little smile spread across her face.

"Oh," she said. "So you do care."

Osiris immediately looked away. "I said what I said."

Zyran leaned closer to Cyrus and whispered loudly enough for everyone to hear, "This fool is finally learning how to talk like a normal male."

Osiris spun around. "Do you want another punch?"

"No," Zyran replied at once. "That is why I am being supportive from a safe distance."

Cyrus let out a small laugh, then after seeing Isabella shift a little, he suddenly transformed the lower half of his body.

In the next moment, his long red python tail appeared, thick and smooth, coiling across the room with that quiet cold elegance that made it look both beautiful and dangerous.

Cyrus looked at Isabella gently. "If you are going out again, sit on my tail. It will be easier."

Isabella stared. Then she looked at the tail. Then she looked at him. Zyran’s ears twitched once, sharply, as he watched Cyrus’s tail coil invitingly.

He crossed his arms tighter, smirking to cover the flicker of annoyance. Osiris looked away in frustration and tried not to complain about the fact that Isabella was always sitting on him.

To be honest, Isabella really did want to refuse at first.

Not because she disliked it, but because Cyrus’s tail was always cooler during winter, and every time she touched it, she felt as though she was making contact with a very polite piece of ice. But right now she was wrapped in so many thick furs that only her face and hands were really exposed, so after thinking about it for a moment, she felt it was manageable.

Also, she was indeed tired.

And lately, because of the pregnancy, she had started spitting more often and feeling hungry at strange times, which made moving around even more annoying than before.

So after a moment, she said, "Fine."

Cyrus’s eyes softened at once.

He carefully moved his tail closer, making it easier for her.

After Isabella settled onto it with the thick fur covering her legs, she paused.

Then her eyes widened slightly.

Actually...

This was very comfortable.

Very, very comfortable.

She immediately turned to glare at Cyrus. "Why did you not do this before?"

Cyrus looked innocent. "I always offer. You always reject."

Osiris stared harder at the way her body relaxed against the smooth scales, his jaw tightening just enough to notice. He muttered under his breath, "Of course the snake gets to be the comfortable one today." Zyran caught it and grinned wider, but his tail lashed once behind him before he forced it still.

Isabella straightened. "Are you calling me too much?"

Cyrus answered instantly, "No. I would never."

That answer came too fast.

Far too fast.

It was the kind of answer a man gave after surviving many dangerous moments.

Zyran burst into laughter. "You liar."

Cyrus calmly ignored him.

Osiris stared at Cyrus’s tail, then at the way Isabella sat on it with her furs all around her, and suddenly felt that the whole thing looked strangely irritating.

Why irritating?

He did not know.

He simply did not like it very much.

Before he could think further, there was another knock at the door.

A familiar knock.

The kind that carried duty, bad timing, and the deep sorrow of a person who knew he was about to be scolded.

The room went silent.

Then Isabella closed her eyes.

Then she groaned.

"Seriously?"

The door opened, and Luca stepped in with the face of a man who also did not want to be here.

The moment Zyran saw him, he clicked his tongue. "Must you always disturb us? We are having a bonding moment."

Luca looked deeply wronged. "You think I want to disturb her either? You think I enjoy coming here so she can bully me?"

Isabella turned her head and glared at him.

Luca shut his mouth so fast it was almost impressive.

Honestly, his survival instincts had become sharper lately.

After a moment, he coughed and said properly, "A higher-ranking village has arrived."

That got everyone’s attention.

Luca continued, "They came with people, gifts, and a request for alliance."

Isabella was not surprised.

Not even a little.

To be honest, she had expected this sooner or later. Their territory had grown too fast, too strangely, and too obviously for people to keep pretending not to see it.

This place was no longer something others could dismiss as a random village hidden somewhere in the wild. They had walls, watchtowers, training grounds, food storage, rules, learning, and enough order to make many old villages look shabby.

At this point, if others still called this place a village, they were only doing it because there was not yet a bigger word prepared for it.

Isabella took another fruit and bit into it calmly.

She had also heard whispers before.

Some called her territory the strangest place in the beast world.

Some called it dangerous.

Some called it impossible.

And some, especially the smart ones, had already begun calling it the place that would rise.

She swallowed the fruit and said, "Fine. I was already planning on stepping out."

Then she motioned for Luca to go ahead.

Luca nodded and quickly retreated before anyone could decide he was irritating again.

Not long after, they headed out.

Cyrus carefully carried Isabella on his tail, while the thick furs around her kept her warm and made the whole thing even more comfortable than she wanted to admit. Zyran walked beside her with his usual lazy look, and Osiris remained on the other side, glancing at her every now and then with a strange expression.

After a while, he finally asked, "But seriously must you always move around like this? Every time I return, you are either going somewhere or about to go somewhere."

Isabella looked down at him.

Then she smiled sweetly. "You really do care."

Osiris nearly choked.

"I am only saying," he muttered, "that you should rest more."

Zyran looked at him and said, "That is caring."

Osiris looked murderous.

Cyrus, meanwhile, said gently, "If she sits like this, it will be easier for her."

Isabella touched the fur over her lap and nodded. "It is easier. So if either of you have complaints, save them."
