The Supreme Soldier in the City-Chapter 579 - 591: Fighting Sharks in the Sea
Chapter 579: Chapter 591: Fighting Sharks in the Sea
Chapter 591: Fighting Sharks at Sea
Linda, Lily, and Lyndia were frantically swimming forward, terrified by the sounds of heavy objects smashing into the water behind them. At this moment, they didn’t have the courage to look back, and could only swim desperately, with thoughts only of reaching the shore and staying away from the shark.
They were close to the shore when they encountered Lucy Campbell, half-floating on the water. Seeing Lucy, Linda quickly regained her senses and hastily pulled her cousin ashore. Her knees sank into the solid ground as the water was only half a meter deep. When Lucy fainted, she laid on the water with her face floating on the surface; otherwise, she would have suffocated.
The three of them hurriedly dragged Lucy onto the beach, then instinctively looked back.
The sea was turbulent at this time, with the shark’s silhouette appearing intermittently in the trio’s gaze, along with James Brown. However, he was too far away, and they couldn’t see the specific situation, but they all thought of one thing: that James was already caught by the shark.
"Brother-in-law!" Linda shouted, tears springing from her eyes.
Lily didn’t react as noisily as she usually would; instead, she fell into total silence, suddenly realizing why James had thrown them out back then. It was because he discovered the shark, pushing them to safety, thus staying behind himself. Consequently, James got pursued by the shark; otherwise, with his swimming speed, he could have swam away first, leaving one, two, or all three of them prey to the shark.
Lyndia, however, shouted urgently, "Help, there’s a shark in the water!"
Lyndia’s sharp cry was immensely pointed and effective. The bodyguards, who were left at the villa and hadn’t followed, heard her shouts and hurriedly rushed over.
Although they had guns, it was too far to shoot, and if they entered the water trying to kill the shark with guns, it would be impossible unless they found a boat to go over, but there was no boat available, leaving the bodyguards utterly powerless for the moment.
The main issue was that from Lily and her companions, they knew James had already been bitten by the shark for more than ten minutes, leaving little chance of saving him.
Lucy was awakened, and as soon as she opened her eyes, she anxiously scanned the surroundings, crying, "Where’s James? Where’s he?"
Linda immediately embraced Lucy, chokingly saying, "Brother-in-law... Brother-in-law was eaten by the shark."
"No!" With a heart-wrenching cry, Lucy nearly fainted again before passionately yelling at the nearby bodyguards, "Why are you standing here? Why aren’t you saving him?"
The bodyguards exchanged bewildered glances amongst themselves, lowering their heads at Lucy’s reproach.
"James!" Lucy called sorrowfully once more, collapsing onto Linda’s shoulder in voiceless agony.
"Miss Johnson, something seems off," a bodyguard suddenly exclaimed.
"What is it?" Lucy instantly jumped up, almost toppling over from dizziness, but Lily and Lyndia hurriedly supported her.
"Miss Johnson, if the shark had seized the prey for this long, it should have eaten it by now and left. But the shark is still wrestling, seemingly... seemingly fighting with Mr. Brown," the bodyguard explained, yet sounded incredulous at his own words. On land, people have some chance of confronting beasts, which he believed, as he could face off against a fierce wolf, but against tigers or lions, fleeing was the only option, let alone fighting the sea’s ruler, the shark, in the ocean.
Lucy, instantly stirred, hurriedly commanded, "Go... go help." After a pause, she added, "I will reward anyone who saves James with one million dollars each."
As the saying goes, heavy rewards inspire courage. Though the bodyguards feared for their lives, if James was still struggling against the shark now, rescuing him might be possible. Besides, with so many people and firearms, even if they couldn’t kill the shark with a barrage of bullets, scaring it away seemed feasible.
Thus all the bodyguards leapt into the sea, furiously swimming towards the rolling waves.
Lucy intently watched the distant scene, and Lily and the others were doing the same, with Lily cautiously commenting, "Lucy, could James really be that powerful?"
Lucy was both comforting and encouraging herself now, clenching her fists as she declared, "James is indeed that powerful. No shark will be a match for him."
Linda grimaced slightly, saying, "Isn’t that too strong? That’s literally Superman."
While the three were talking, the sea suddenly calmed down, which made Lucy Campbell’s heart leap to her throat, and her body wobbled a bit. The calm sea meant that a fight had ended, with only two possible outcomes: John Brown won, which would be good news, but if the shark won, it might have cost John Brown his life.
At this point, the bodyguards also stopped, the battle was over, and they could only wait for the result. If John Brown survived, that would be good, but if the shark had eaten John Brown, they would be completely useless if they went any further and would only put themselves in danger.
"Splash!" Suddenly, a wave appeared on the surface of the sea, and then a shark’s head emerged from the water.
All the bodyguards instantly cried out in surprise, instinctively backing away, and their guns were aimed at the shark’s head. Lucy Campbell’s body went limp, almost collapsing to the ground.
"Don’t shoot! Do you want to kill me?" But a shout made Lucy Campbell stand upright again, crying out, "James, James, is it you?"
"It’s okay now, tonight we can have a shark feast," a voice from John Brown came from the sea.
Lucy Campbell truly heard John Brown’s voice this time, and excitedly rushed into the sea. Linda Smith, Lily Fisher, and Lyndia Miller also followed her into the sea.
The bodyguards quickly swam towards John Brown, and when they got closer, they all looked at John Brown like he was a monster. John Brown was floating on the sea, holding the shark’s pectoral fin, leisurely swimming in their direction, while the shark was motionless, blood streaming from its head, seemingly killed by John Brown.
John Brown let go and said to the bodyguards, "Guys, watch where you’re shooting. You almost blew my head off, this thing is all yours, let’s have a feast tonight." freewёbnoνel.com
The bodyguards hurriedly took the shark, while John Brown headed towards Lucy Campbell and the others.
"James!" Lucy Campbell swam the fastest, reaching John Brown first, joyfully shouting and hugging John Brown’s neck tightly, as if trying to merge her body into his.
John Brown gently patted Lucy Campbell’s back, smiling, "It’s okay, it’s okay."
Lucy Campbell lifted her head off John Brown’s shoulder, looking at him with tears in her eyes. Suddenly, she moved her face forward and kissed John Brown.
This took John Brown by surprise; he forgot to tread water, and they both sank underwater.
Lucy Campbell didn’t care, she just kept kissing John Brown, as if releasing all the tension and worry from earlier through this kiss.
John Brown initially wanted to surface immediately, but thought this would attract attention, so he stayed underwater and kissed Lucy Campbell a while longer before gently pushing her away and surfacing.
"James, you’re alive, that’s wonderful." Lucy Campbell, still holding John Brown, expressed a sense of relief after surviving a hardship.
Looking into Lucy Campbell’s eyes, John Brown knew she had feelings for him, more than just friends, something she wouldn’t have shown had he not been in danger.
"Lucy, I’m really tired now. Can we go back and let me rest?" However, John Brown couldn’t fully accept Lucy Campbell’s feelings, so he shifted the topic.
Lucy Campbell gasped, quickly letting go of John Brown, and dragged him towards the shore.
Everyone climbed onto the shore. John Brown lay on the beach, not wanting to move. The shark was huge, powerful in the water, while John Brown’s strength was greatly diminished in the water. Killing the shark had taken all his effort.
Lucy Campbell immediately sat next to John Brown, carefully inspecting his body, noting several wounds on his leg, which were still bleeding. Her heart ached, as if the wounds were on her own body.
"James, you’re hurt, let’s go to the hospital?" Lucy Campbell held John Brown’s hand, speaking softly.
John Brown shook his head, saying, "I’m fine, just superficial wounds, nothing serious. I’ll apply some medicine and antibiotics later."
Lucy Campbell hesitated for a moment and immediately instructed a bodyguard to get a first aid kit.
