The Supreme Wild Young Master-Chapter 593 Suspicious Taoist Temple_1
Chapter 593: Chapter 593 Suspicious Taoist Temple_1
The scene was eerily silent, everyone was stupefied, staring straight at Zhang Xian, who was incredibly audacious.
In the villagers’ eyes, Liu Han was their village’s top dog, bullying everyone unchecked, with no one daring to provoke him. Over time, Liu Han had become an invincible figure in their hearts.
Today, a stranger had come to their village and started slapping their village bully around, which genuinely startled them. When had Liu Han ever been so humiliated?
"Hey, kid, what are you doing?"
A middle-aged man jumped out, pointing at Zhang Xian’s nose, and cursed, "Bloody hell, on our territory, you dare to swagger about?"
Zhang Xian turned his head and looked at the middle-aged man, raising his hand to give him a big slap.
"Smack..."
The middle-aged man didn’t even know what was happening. After spinning in the air a few times, he fell to the ground, unconscious.
"Who else?"
After Zhang Xian knocked out the middle-aged man, he asked once again.
"Damn it, kill this bastard."
"Damn, this kid is too cocky, let’s all go for him."
A few underlings began to yell, grabbed a brick from the ground, their eyes bulging with rage, and viciously charged towards Zhang Xian.
"Smack, smack, smack..."
A series of slaps sounded, and the underlings who had just rushed up were overthrown on the ground, just like the previous man, without even seeing how Zhang Xian had made his move.
"Come, keep going."
Zhang Xian looked at the villagers and said, "However, don’t come at me one by one, better to come all at once. I’m not afraid of a group like you."
The villagers had come under the threat of Liu Han, not really trying to join Liu Han in giving Zhang Xian trouble. All of this was stirred up by Liu Han; they didn’t blame the construction site.
Following Liu Han, they felt helpless and just wanted to gain some benefits.
With Liu Han defeated, and rather thoroughly at that, they all started having second thoughts about confronting Zhang Xian, and nobody stepped forward.
"What is happening...?" Jiang Yuanyuan seemed somewhat confused.
After Zhang Xian arrived, things turned out entirely contrary to what she had expected. The expected negotiation didn’t occur, and the series of contingency plans she had thought up had not been of any use.
The problem that had been troubling them all along was solved in such a nonchalantly easy way, with no complications at all.
"Everyone’s gone quiet?"
Realizing that the villagers didn’t intend to fight, Zhang Xian gave a cold smile and said, "I have already found some clues regarding what happened in your village, and it has nothing to do with our construction site."
"What really happened then?" a middle-aged man asked.
Zhang Xian looked at the middle-aged man and said, "Does anyone live in this mountain in your village? Or is there any ancient temple-like place?"
"Nobody lives in the mountain! Nowadays, everyone is moving out; who would stay in the mountains?" the middle-aged man replied.
Zhang Xian frowned, "How can there be no one living there?"
"Why would you ask that?" The middle-aged man asked curiously, "You mean, the person who harmed us lives in the mountains? This seems unlikely, right? Many people in our village have been killed, and few even disappeared. Could the people from the mountain have the ability to do that? We’ve been keeping guard in the village since the incident."
Someone said, "Exactly, when the incident happened, we heard some howling, but we couldn’t see anything when we ran out. How could it be man-made? Stop trying to have us on."
"What makes you so sure it wasn’t?"
Zhang Xian replied with a cold smile, "Just because you heard howling you’re certain it’s not man-made? How much do you know?"
"You... How can you prove it was man-made?"
The middle-aged man said, "Anyone can talk. Who would believe it was man-made considering what happened? Show us the person who did this!"
Someone added, "Yes, find this person. Who will believe you just based on your word?"
"Folks, are you misunderstanding the situation?"
Zhang Xian said, "I asked because I wanted to help you, not to exonerate myself. Please understand the situation. Currently, you have no evidence to prove what happened in your village has anything to do with us. You just want to gain some benefits from us. We don’t need to offer any compensation."
Upon hearing his words, the villagers fell silent.
It was true what Zhang Xian said; they had no evidence to prove what happened in the village was related to the construction site.
The reason they came over was partly due to Liu Han’s threat and partly because they assumed that Liu Han could intimidate Zhang Xian and his people to get settlement money.
Now that Liu Han had been subdued, how could they possibly get any compensation?
They saw the strength Zhang Xian displayed; he was not afraid of them at all.
"Um, we have a Daoist temple in our mountain, but there are very few people there. Does that count?" Suddenly, a woman asked.
Someone said, "That broken Daoist temple only has a few Daoists. What kind of storm can they stir up? Don’t tell me, you suspect some people from that Daoist temple, that simply isn’t possible."
"Very well, lead me there." Zhang Xian’s eyes lit up.
Fuyong Village was located in a remote area, and under normal circumstances, no lone mutated humans should appear there. Even if there were people passing by, they wouldn’t stay too long.
Furthermore, people in the village not only died, others were missing. This only strengthened his belief that there was something fishy going on in those hills. If he kept unraveling this, he might just find some lab.
"I... I take you there?" The woman looked at Zhang Xian incredulously.
Zhang Xian said, "I don’t know the way, how can I go alone? But, if you’re unwilling, I won’t force you. After all, what happens in your village doesn’t concern me much."
"Then... Then I’ll take you!" She agreed reluctantly, seeing the attention from many villagers.
The strange happenings in the village had puzzled them for several days. Now that someone offered to investigate, it made sense to cooperate.
After all, Zhang Xian was deft; much more so than them.
...
Inside a Taoist temple, nestled within a certain massive mountain in Longhu town, it was high noon. Warm sunlight poured through the cloud cover, turning the yard golden.
A middle-aged man in a white lab coat and black framed glasses stood at the door, his brows knitted in annoyance as he gazed at the pathway, seemingly waiting impatiently for something.
He had been engaged in bio-chemical research for several years, making significant progress. Recently, he had incorporated control techniques from the Evil Cultivator, solving the longstanding problem of controlling the bio-chemical humans. The Evil Cultivator had gone out with the bio-chemical human the previous day, and had yet to return; he was worried that something had gone wrong.
Control over bio-chemical humans had always been a challenge in their lab. Despite many experiments, they were never able to control them perfectly, which often resulted in chaotic outbreaks.
Now that they’d finally found a way, he had high hopes for this experiment and did not want any slip-ups.
"It’s bad..."
Suddenly, a middle-aged man running from below the mountain said breathlessly, "The Evil Cultivator is dead."
"Dead? How could it be?" The man in white asked.
The middle-aged man shook his head, "I don’t know, but he is indeed dead. No sign of the bio-chemical human either, no idea where it has disappeared to."
The man in white frowned and asked, "Could it be that he was attacked by the bio-chemical human and got killed by it? In such a place, except for bio-chemical humans, I doubt anyone else could kill him."
"I think it’s not the bio-chemical human that killed him." The middle-aged man said, "Bio-chemical humans are violent and blood-thirsty. If killed by one, there would be no intact bodies."
"Mmm, bio-chemical humans are highly destructive. If not controlled by someone, the victims wouldn’t be intact."
The man in white nodded and asked, "So how did that Evil Cultivator die? Are you suggesting that there are other skilled people in this mountain who killed him?"
"His throat was strangled to death." The middle-aged man said.
The man in white hesitated, then said, "Let’s go inside and make arrangements. Whatever the cause, we can’t let them discover the secret here."
The middle-aged man nodded and followed the man in white into the temple.
Soon, the previously filthy Taoist temple was all cleaned up, and a strong scent of incense wafted through the temple. The people who cleaned the Taoist temple also changed into black Taoist robes.
"Anyone here?"
A voice suddenly sounded outside the door.
"Who?"
A Taoist priest walked to the door and asked the outsiders, "This is a remote, deep mountain, hardly anyone comes. How did you end up here?"
"We were herb gathering in the mountains but lost our way."
A young man laughed and asked, "Master, we’ve been walking for a day and a night, and now we’re exhausted. Can we rest here for a while and find out the way down the mountain?"
"Our temple does not accommodate outsiders. You should leave!" The Taoist priest said, preparing to close the door.
The young man asked, "A temple that does not accommodate outsiders?"
"Why should we accommodate outsiders?" The Taoist priest said impatiently, "I don’t have time to argue with you. Leave quickly!"
The visitor who came to the temple was Zhang Xian.
Seeing the unprofessional Taoist priest in front of him, and the anxious attitude towards outsiders, he couldn’t help but sneer in his heart.
Before climbing the mountain, he suspected that there was something wrong with the temple. The surroundings had only this temple. After coming up, he was almost certain, this temple certainly had something suspicious going on.
"What are you standing here for? Hurry up and leave!" The Taoist priest scowled.
Zhang Xian smiled and said, "Master, we just wanted to rest a bit, how could you turn us away? Shouldn’t that be against a monk’s principles?"
The Taoist priest glowered, saying angrily, "Damn it, should I care what you think? If you don’t go, I’ll beat you out."
"Huh..."
Zhang Xian chuckled, saying, "You’re up to something. There’s definitely something fishy about this temple. Today, if you don’t let me in, I will insist on going in to see what’s really going on."
"Oh? You’re looking for trouble?" frёeweɓηovel_coɱ
The Taoist priest’s face hardened, "Don’t say I didn’t warn you. This is a temple, not someplace you can barge into."
"Today..."
A sinister smile played at the corners of Zhang Xian’s mouth, "I insist on barging in."
