Chapter 604: Chapter 604: Start Breaking the Array_1

"Kid..."

Elder Qi, pointing at Zhang Xian in fury, yelled, "If you have the guts, come out and see if I can’t kill you!"

"Idiot."

After giving Elder Qi a glance, Zhang Xian couldn’t be bothered to deal with him any longer.

It wasn’t that he was afraid of Elder Qi, but rather that his reinforcements hadn’t arrived yet. He didn’t want to reveal his true strength, which would be unfavorable to his future plans.

If a real fight were to break out, with his current strength, Elder Qi might not necessarily be his match.

"Kid..."

Elder Qi’s facial muscles twitched violently in anger, pushing his rage to the point of exploding. With a roar, he once again charged towards Zhang Xian, leaving a string of afterimages in his wake.

"Elder Qi, don’t push me."

Master Wujing turned around, quickly catching up, and struck a palm towards Elder Qi’s back.

"Wujing, you’re set on protecting this kid?"

Elder Qi turned, taking Master Wujing’s palm bluntly, and angrily said: "While your Grand Buddha Temple may be the top-ranked among the ancient sects, our East China Sect is no pushover."

"Hmph..."

Master Wujing coldly stared at Elder Qi, retorting, "I’ve already said that Lord Zhang is a VIP guest of our Grand Buddha Temple. But you repeatedly attacked Lord Zhang. Did you think our Grand Buddha Temple is without people?"

"You..." Elder Qi looked at Master Wujing, rendered speechless.

Chastised by Master Wujing’s rebuke, he calmed down quite a bit. With Master Wujing there, he alone definitely couldn’t deal with Zhang Xian.

Earlier, he had been enraged by Zhang Xian to the point of being blinded, recklessly charging in without thinking.

"How about it, for the sake of my face?" Master Wujing looked at Elder Qi, then said, "Right now, we’re all in the same boat. If we keep fighting amongst ourselves, what’s there to talk about breaking the formation?"

Elder Qi hesitated a moment, then reluctantly conceded, "Fine, I’ll give you face this time and let the brat off this once."

Zhang Xian chuckled at the side, not bothering to provoke Elder Qi further. Before his reinforcements arrived, he didn’t dare to push too hard. More importantly, with Mo Shaoyun there, he wasn’t sure he could walk away unscathed.

"What the hell is going on?"

Everyone watched as Zhang Xian and Elder Qi butted heads, with Master Wujing playing peacemaker in the middle, feeling completely confused.

They all knew who Elder Qi was, but they hardly knew anything about Zhang Xian. What they found even more unbelievable was how Zhang Xian became a VIP guest of the Grand Buddha Temple.

"The time to break the formation hasn’t arrived yet, everyone disperse!" Master Wujing waved.

"Just like that, we disperse?" questioned an old man.

The others also expressed their confusion. They had agreed before they arrived to work together to break open this cave. Now, they were suddenly leaving without doing anything, leaving them somewhat unhappy.

Having come all this way for naught seemed like a complete waste of time.

"The plan has changed, we need to wait for one more person to break the formation, so..." Master Wujing said apologetically: "Everyone disperse for now! I will notify everyone when we start."

Yu Zhi furrowed his brow, suddenly waved his hand and said, "Let’s go, we’re leaving."

"Elder, are we just leaving like this?" asked a disciple.

Yu Zhi nodded, said, "We’re leaving first. That so-called Zhang Xian has a strong aura, his words are not entirely without credibility."

"Elder, you mean to let that guy take the lead?" asked the disciple.

Yu Zhi smirked coldly, "Some people just love showing off, thinking they’re amazing. Why can’t we step back and let them take the spotlight?"

"We’re leaving too." Elder Qi also turned and led his followers away.

Seeing the disciples of the Broken Sword Sect and East China Sect leave, those from the remaining factions had no choice but to turn and walk away, planning to find a place to settle down for the time being.

Since they were here, going back was not an option. They could find a place nearby to wait and see what happens.

"Master Wujing, you’ve really screwed me over this time." After watching all of the factions leave, Zhang Xian walked up to Master Wujing and complained, "I said before that I didn’t want to be involved in anything or have any connections to various factions. As soon as I got here, you pushed me to the front. Is this not forcing me into the line of fire?"

Master Wujing shrugged, "Lord Zhang, you can’t blame me for this. You’re the only one who knows about the formations. If I don’t ask you, who else could I ask?"

"Zhang Xian, what do we do now?"

Mo Shaoyun frowned, "We just got here and you’ve made two powerful enemies. Once we get into the ancient tomb, they’re definitely going to find a chance to kill you."

"How about you go back first?" Zhang Xian didn’t want Mo Shaoyun to stay.

Mo Shaoyun turned her head, saying, "I’m not going back."

"Then we’ll play it by ear." Zhang Xian didn’t have any good solutions at the moment. He had anticipated running into Elder Qi before he came here, but he wasn’t expecting Yu Zhi as well.

In a one-on-one fight, he had no pressure. But if Yu Zhi and Elder Qi teamed up, he would be in trouble.

...

Time slipped by unnoticed, and two days passed in a blink of an eye.

During the morning of the third day, while everyone from each faction was idly chatting, a man and a beast suddenly emerged from a specific direction, coming to a halt before their eyes.

"Damn, what the heck is that?"

Everyone was slightly taken aback upon seeing the majestic and formidable mystical beast. Unknown entities always induced fear.

"Roar..."

The strange beast, feeling everyone’s gaze upon it, let out an angry roar in discontent.

"Xiao Huo, how did you get here?" Mo Shaoyun suddenly broke into a smile as she saw the bizarre beast, extending a hand and saying, "Come, come to your sister."

Xiao Huo’s eyes lit up. After shaking off the Blood Soul on its back, it leapt up, shrinking down to a miniature size mid-air and landing in Mo Shaoyun’s arms.

"Roar..."

The Blood Soul was extremely discontented upon being tossed to the ground by Xiao Huo.

If it weren’t for Mo Shaoyun’s protection, it would have surely pounced on that annoying little creature and given it a good thrashing.

"What..."

Master Wujing, Yu Zhi, Elder Qi, and the others all stared wide-eyed as they saw Xiao Huo shrink in size, as if they had been turned to stone.

Seeing Xiao Huo for the first time, they were already bewildered. The creature before them, which did not resemble a tiger nor a lion but carried a strong aura, was not something they have ever seen before.

However, seeing Xiao Huo suddenly reduce in size gave them an even bigger shock.

Could this strange creature actually alter its size at will? Wasn’t that against the laws of nature?

"Xiao Huo, Blood Soul, you’ve arrived." Zhang Xian stepped forward with a smile.

Master Wujing turned to look at Zhang Xian, and asked, "Lord Zhang, are these the ones you were waiting for? What is that creature that can change its size?"

"My pet." Zhang Xian replied with a smile.

Upon hearing this, everyone reacted differently, but there was a certain odd look on their faces.

Zhang Xian exuded a mysterious aura that was becoming so intriguing, they were finding it increasingly hard to believe. Despite their doubts, the evidence was right in front of them, and they had no choice but to believe.

"Everyone..."

After his gaze swept across all faces, Zhang Xian asked, "My companions have already arrived, do you have any other business? If not, we can begin breaking the formation."

"We have no other business." said someone.

Another one replied, "We are fully prepared, ready to break the formation at any time."

"Elder Yu, Elder Qi, do you have any other matters to attend to?" Master Wujing, with a smile on his face, looked at Yu Zhi and Elder Qi, saying, "If not, let’s join forces and test the power of this formation."

Yu Zhi and Elder Qi exchanged a look and said, "We have no other matters. However, certain individuals better not try anything sneaky."

"What tricks can I play?"

Zhang Xian laughed and continued, "However, before we break the formation, let me first discuss its structure so everyone is prepared. This particular formation is a series of combined formations. The outermost formation is a defense mechanism followed by a composition of different formations. Cracking the defensive formation does not mean we’ve completely solved the formation, it would only mean we’ve just begun."

"What exactly is this formation?" Someone questioned.

Another chimed in, "Yeah! We’ve never heard of formations before, so what the hell is a formation doing in this place?"

"I don’t know why there is a formation here, but it indeed is one." Zhang Xian knew this formation was left behind from the Ancient Times, but he had no intention of revealing that. Once his secret of being a Cultivator was out, he had no doubt he would become the target of the Ancient Sects.

At present no one in the Ancient Sects was aware of Cultivators, let alone their immense powers. If his secret was exposed, the Ancient Sects would undoubtedly become restless.

His achievement of reaching the Grandmaster Realm at the age of twenty and above induced suspicion among the masses. Should they discover his method of cultivation, they would, beyond a doubt, go crazy trying to acquire it.

"Zhang Xian..." Mo Shaoyun suddenly grabbed Zhang Xian’s arm.

She could tell that Zhang Xian’s secrets were beginning to leak one by one. As things were unfolding, it wouldn’t be long before Zhang Xian would become a public enemy.

"It’s alright." Zhang Xian squeezed Mo Shaoyun’s hand, giving her a reassuring look.

As things had already progressed to this point, he had aroused suspicion and had no choice but to move forward and carve out his path with his strength.

Now, though he wasn’t from any Ancient Sect and had yet to establish his own, his power was not much weaker compared to those ancient ones.

In his Lingxiao Mountain Villa, there were now a few Grandmasters and several at the Peak Innate Realm.

"Ha ha..."

Master Wujing laughed before saying, "Since we have no objections, let’s begin breaking the formation!"

"How do we join forces?" Elder Qi asked.

Yu Zhi replied, "Breaking this formation with brute force is a little risky, we’ve tried it before. If we force it, we might get hit by a backlash."

"If the force reaches a certain level, it can directly break the formation without any backlash. Of course, if the force isn’t enough, and it gets repulsed, backlash is certain." Zhang Xian said, "I’ve studied this formation carefully over the past two days. Because it has been left unattended for a long time, there’s a 70% chance we can break it if we unite."

Elder Qi asked, "Only a 70% chance?"

Zhang Xian replied to Elder Qi, "Do you have a better solution, Elder Qi?"

"Hmph..."

Elder Qi snorted coldly, "Would I be wasting my time talking to you here if I had a better solution? Can’t I simply confirm?"

"Stick to the plan if you don’t have a better solution, unless you’re not interested in the resources inside."

Zhang Xian first took a glance at Elder Qi and then swept his gaze across everyone’s faces, stating, " Everybody, we may begin. During the formation-breaking process, I hope you all exert your full potential. If anyone holds back and we fail to break the formation, not just one of us, but all will be subjected to an equal degree of backlash."
