The Swapped Master's Bride And Her Bad Luck System.-Chapter 92: Truth was ugly.
It seemed like Weijun was leaning down for an actual kiss. Liwu raised her hand, covering his face. She pushed his head back, while rolling her eyes. "Don’t even think about it." She looked over her shoulder, grinning widely. "Linlin, bring Zhou Ming and Su Ye out for a chat. It looks like we are going to solve this crime in the President’s assigned time line after all."
The two suspects were brought outside, to face a team of trained detectives.
"Who wants to confess first because that is all we want now." Chief Abby said firmly. "The victim was a system host so you are both going to system court. Now, in case you are not aware, only facts matter over there. Only with a confession can you get some grace."
Liwu gestured to Zhou Ming. "You first. Before you say anything, I would like to share what I have guessed. When the victim was poisoned, you were in his vicinity. In fact, you mixed the cocktail that killed him. This gives Su Ye an alibi for that crime as she had not yet arrived at the villa." She turned her head to Su Ye. "Zhou Ming has an alibi for the genital mutilation but you don’t. In fact, you disappeared and nobody can account for your whereabouts during that time."
Zhou Ming stepped forward, his muscles tense. His wife lingered nearby, watching curiously.
"You killed him," Liwu said coldly. "Was it because he betrayed you by sleeping with your wife or because you were in love with his wife?"
Zhou sneered. "He deserved it. He was breaking this team apart because he thought he was special. He humiliated us all. Slept with our wives and girlfriends. He thought he was untouchable."
Liwu nodded in understanding. "And nobody is untouchable."
"Damn right." Zhou bellowed. "I poisoned him, but I just wanted to ruin his body and end his career. that poison was not enough to kill him."
Liwu turned to Su Ye, "You have the floor. Why did you slice his...."
"Hot dog." Xuanji jumped him.
Su Ye sunk slowly until her butt touched a soft cushion of the pool side chair. "I did not mean to do it, it just happened." She whispered. "You don’t understand, Fan, he was just so.....he ruined me." She burst into sobs. "We have been married for ten years and he cheated for ten years." Her eyes sought those of every female officers around, hoping for understanding. "He had Azoospermia and he never said a word." Her voice became louder and sharper. "Eight years! I spent eight years trying all sorts of fertility treatments he recommended to me. I went through six rounds of IVF. I blamed myself for the cheating because I thought he was getting back at me for failing to give him a child."
"Didn’t any of the doctor’s examine you?" Linlin asked curiously. "If you are healthy..."
"He chose the doctors." She screamed. "He bribed every one of them to give him a clean bill of health and me...." she cackled in a crazy way. "They all said I was the problem. I did not know the truth until Sun Wei told me. That son of a bitch was the problem all along. He gaslighted me for ten years and made me undergo unnecessary treatments. It was a crime, he was the criminal. Not me."
"Why didn’t you just divorce?" Liwu asked her.
Su Ye looked at Liwu as if she was the insane one of them both. "Have you see my prenup? If I divorce, I get nothing, not even the bras he bought me while we were married."
Liwu raised her brows. "Oh wow. I would hate being married to a man like that too. I understand you completely, I hate my husband too. He manipulates my life all the time."
Su Ye exhaled, eyeing Liwu with a sparkle as if they were now best friends. "Thank God you get it!"
Weijun, moved forward meanwhile, overflowing with the desire to defend himself. But Captain Abby pushed him back. "Don’t disturb her, she is building a rapport. We need to know what exactly it was that set Su Ye off yesterday."
Like as if she was in sync with the captain, that was Liwu’s next question.
Su Ye blurted out eagerly, "I saw him kissing another one of the wenches on this team that have no self respect. It was bad enough that he was taking them to hotels but to do so here! In a place where anybody could have walked in and while I was around!"
Liwu said flatly. "He had no respect for you at all." 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Su Ye nodded. "And I said as much to him." She sneered. "He called me an old barren hen and told me not to ruin his fun. That his thing was his and he could do with it as he pleased. Then he exposed himself and shook it as if it was a sword or something. I thought maybe he was drunk so I told myself to ignore it but then he pissed on me and he laughed." She sighed, finally relaxing for the first time since the interrogation started. "So, I took my hair pin and stabbed him down there."
Captain Abby and Xuanji winced.
"That is what he deserved." Zhou Ming shouted.
Liwu closed her notebook. She looked at Zhou Ming and Su Ye. "The coroner’s report has not given us a conclusive cause of death yet. We don’t know if he bled out from his injuries or the poison stopped his heart before the groin injury killed him. All of that will be sent to the prosecutor directly and he will decide how guilty each of you is and for what. My team’s job is done." She rose and said slowly, "Both of you are under arrest for the murder of Fan Tai-Hua."
Agents from Beijing moved in, cuffs ready. Zhou resisted, his physique power surging but an agent shot him with a destabilizer, disabling him. His wife screamed, but an officer restrained her.
Su Ye did not make a fuss.
The teammates watched in silence as Zhou Ming was taken away, shame and relief mingling. The couples whose secret affairs had been revealed could hardly look at the each other.
The coach was still smoking!
Liwu and her teammates were driven straight to the airport. They witnessed in person as Zhou Ming and Su Ye were put on a different private flight.
She stood near the Bureau’s plane, watching as that plane left the city.
Arenas in the district roared with games, oblivious to the scandal within.
"Let’s go." Chief Abby tapped her on the shoulder. "Your team has earned three days off."
Wheeling a suitcase full of souvenirs past them, Xuanji said, "For the record, I think he deserved it for what he put his wife through. Also, I did not buy any merchandise that is related to the basketball team."
Liwu exhaled, weary but resolute. "Justice is not about who deserved what. It’s about truth. And today, the truth is ugly."
Just like the truth about her husband which she had pieced together.
Weijun approached cautiously, flowers and jewelry long forgotten.
Liwu turned away, her voice sharp. "Obviously, you are going to keep meddling in my work. I truly hope your body is made of steel because I see myself doing a lot of punching."
