The System Awakens: Rise of the Champion-Chapter 267: Balancing Soul Distribution
Damian's aura finally receded as he let out a slow breath.
He had used several higher-level laws to simulate the environment within the dome of the [Life Engine Matrix], making it incredibly natural, and a few more laws to ensure that the creation of the new race would be stable and continuous.
Just like how the demons first came into existence, their counterpart would also be born in the same manner, except this time the process was being artificially hastened by Damian.
All the materials, properties, and elements required for the counterpart of the demons to come into existence were already perfectly aligned within this environment.
For a race to be born, three properties were critical and essential: the nature of the race, the soul of the race, and the evolutionary conditions of the race.
Damian had already ensured that everything was in place.
The nature of the race referred to its essence, specifically, which side of the universe it originated from: positivity or negativity.
This new race would represent positivity, acting as the counterpart to the demons, who embodied negativity.
The creation of this race was far more likely because the universe was always seeking balance.
Naturally, this balance would have occurred over time, and the counterparts of the demons would have eventually come into existence on their own.
Damian was merely accelerating the process, countless times faster than it would have happened naturally.
Thus, the nature of the race was already established.
Damian had also employed a formation known as the [Grand Essence Convergence Formation].
"Grand Essence Convergence Formation? That sounds like something the cultivators of the Heavenly Court would come up with," Sasha said, amused.
"As ridiculous as they sound, those cultivators do make things work,"
Damian replied.
"I designed this particular formation with this exact purpose in mind. Placing this formation in a suitable location allows it to attract the essence of positivity from the world and cause it to converge in its purest form... I have also tweaked it to distribute the gathered essence safely and smoothly, feeding it to the soul essences of the race that will come into existence."
"I remember seeing a book about formations in the library,"
Ana added. "I did not think much of it back then, but now it seems interesting."
"Formations are similar to runes and magic," Damian explained. "With formations, we encode and incorporate a set of rules, regulations, and principles that the formation follows to complete one or multiple processes, depending on its nature."
"With runes, we manipulate the surrounding elements through voice, imagery, or other senses without placing a toll on the physical body."
"Magic, on the other hand, involves studying the elements themselves and constructing structures from pure energy that we possess."
Damian then looked at Ana. "I know magic is your strong suit... I suggest you learn about runes and formations as well. Though they differ in nature, mastering them alongside magic will complement your understanding and allow you to progress with far greater quality and efficiency."
"I will keep that in mind, my king," Ana said, nodding.
Damian narrowed his eyes slightly. "You know you can just call me by my name, or husband. Aren't you my wife?"
"I… I like calling you 'my king'," Ana said softly, her ears turning red as she spoke in front of everyone.
"As long as you like it," Damian replied with a smile.
"Anyway," Damian continued, returning to the matter at hand, "the nature of the race is already established. The second essential property is the soul of the race."
The second necessary requirement for the creation of any race was the Soul of the Race.
The souls of demons were born from the energy released by damned souls that ended up in Hell.
This energy existed only as minute residuals, but over time, those remnants merged together, eventually forming a complete soul essence capable of becoming a fully fledged soul.
By that same logic, for the counterpart of demons to be born, Damian would require the pure soul essence of virtuous souls that ended up in Heaven in order to simulate the same process.
The problem was that virtuous souls had always remained whole.
The Heavens were created to be a paradise for souls that 'deserved' rest after death, and souls could not enjoy paradise unless they remained complete.
The only time a virtuous soul would not be whole was when it entered the cycle of reincarnation within the [Sanctum of Renewal].
There, the soul would be purified, stripping away all traces of its past life until nothing remained but pure soul essence.
That essence would then be used for the birth of a new being.
The same principle applied to the other heavens as well.
The system of the Heavens, as paradises, was created by the gods, not by the Primordials, nor by the System of Existence itself.
Existence merely allowed Hell and Heaven to come into being, but the structure in which Hell punished damned souls and Heaven sheltered virtuous ones was a system devised by the gods.
They created it to manipulate mortals into behaving as they wished.
This was one of the primary reasons the counterpart of the demon race had yet to come into existence.
In Hell, demons were able to arise because the punishment inflicted upon damned souls acted as a form of purification.
Through suffering, their soul essence was released.
Since the number of souls sent to Hell vastly exceeded those sent to Heaven, the amount of purified essence produced was immense, paving the way for demons to come into existence far earlier than their counterparts.
The reason Hell's population was so much larger than Heaven's was also due to the manipulative nature of the gods, particularly the Heavenly Father.
To them, the concepts of good and evil were strictly black and white.
Any soul that failed to align, even slightly, with their personal definition of good was condemned to Hell.
The Heavenly Father himself embodied this mindset.
He possessed his own rigid interpretation of what constituted goodness and expected all mortals to conform to it.
That, however, contradicts the concept of free will.
While he could not simply strip mortals of their freedom, he instead instructed his followers to preach that failure to live according to his will would result in eternal damnation.
This approach achieved little.
Not everyone was capable of living according to the Heavenly Father's ideals, and as a result, fewer souls ascended to Heaven.
Instead, the majority were condemned to Hell.
And so, the imbalance continued.
The same went for the other heavens as well.
Manipulating the quantity of souls that the system of existence designated to end up in either Hell or Heaven in order to further their own agendas was not right.
Damian had already resolved this issue, however.
In both the Norse and Biblical pantheons, he simply removed the constraints the gods had placed on Hell and Heaven, allowing the division of souls between them to balance itself out as it always should have.
Unlike the gods who oversaw the heavens and hells, the system of existence was a force of the universe that operated solely to maintain balance.
It did not recognize good or evil, nor did it see things in black and white, and neither was it ambiguous.
It only did what was necessary to preserve balance.
Leaving the distribution of souls between Hell and Heaven, and how those souls were handled within them, to the system of existence was the most natural and optimal choice Damian could make.
Altogether, he had done all this already.
It would normally take a long time for Heaven to naturally produce enough soul essence for a new race to be born, but Damian was not planning on waiting that long.
Instead, using his authority as the ruler of the Norse and Biblical pantheons, he purified billions of souls from both heavens himself.
From them, he extracted soul essence, which he then shaped into hundreds of thousands of pure spheres of soul essence.
These were sown across the dome in various locations and sub-environments, where the dome submerged them in pure aurema energy and concentrated essence of positivity through the [Grand Essence Convergence Formation].
With all of this combined, Damian created the most perfect artificially constructed natural environment possible, one designed to simulate the birth of the counterpart race to the Demons.
Although it seemed quite simple, it was anything but.
The process was countless times more complicated than this, and Damian had explained it to his wives in far greater depth over the course of several hours.
Only Avanora managed to understand parts of it.
The others felt as though their supernatural brains had been fried trying to follow his explanations.
As for the third requirement for the birth of a new race, the evolutionary condition, it referred to the environment and circumstances under which they came into existence, and there was not much to explain.
Even so, Damian spoke about it with his wives for several hours.
He only stopped when he sensed they were already overwhelmed by the information he had given them.
"System," Damian called out.
[Yes, Master.]
"Have you compiled the data processed until now?" Damian asked.
[I have compiled all information produced up to this point, Master.]
"Continue compiling the data until the new race is successfully born," Damian ordered. "Ensure you record every aspect of the process, including how the laws affect the creation of the race across time, space, and energy, as well as how they change throughout their developmental timeline."
[I will do as you command, Master.]
"Hm. Save it under the title 'Heaven's Creations #3' in the [Intelligent Race] section," Damian continued. "Maintain surveillance and report to me whenever a major change occurs."
[As you command, Master.]
