The Thorne of Destiny-Chapter 79: Back Home?
Chapter 79: Back Home?
"Whoosh!"
With a mad dash, Julian employed his movement technique and advanced rapidly towards the prism. With a shield in one hand and a sword in the other, he resembled a brave general charging into the fray while his opponents rained arrows at him.
When he arrived close to the prism, he swung his sword multiple times, relrasimg various sword lights that crashed into the barrier protecting the prism.
A faint ripple spread through the barrier, indicating its impending destruction. Julian, seeing this, let go of his inhibitions as he employed his Gold rank marital skill.
"Razor’s edge!"
A blinding light shot out from his sword. However, this one was far different from the previous ones.
If one were close enough, they would be able to feel a lingering sharpness emanating from the sword light, increasing the intimidating factor.
As soon as the sword light landed on the barrier, the familiar ripple resonated through our the barrier before a very distinct sound rang out.
"Pop!"
That was the sound that the barrier made before it popped like a bubble. The remaining sword light that hadn’t dissipated struck the floating prism, splitting it into two.
It was surprisingly fragile.
Meanwhile, in another part of the maze. Adrian was currently making his way through various passages.
Since they were above ground, he could still see the sky. However, he couldn’t really discern much from it. He once tried to hop over the wall but to no avail.
No matter how high he jumped, he didn’t seem to be able to reach the top of the walls. He always seemed to fall just short of the walls.
Though the walls were high, it wasn’t to the point where he couldn’t reach the top. It was evident that there was a strange power preventing him from reaching the top.
However, he wasn’t disappointed by this. This was to be expected. If he could get through the maze that easily, then there wouldn’t be any point in creating a maze.
He continued to move through the maze, following the pattern that he had already memorized in his mind.
So far, nothing had happened. However, the deafening silence made the maze seem even more eerie. Having walked for about an hour, he was already getting bored.
In fact, he was somewhat hoping for something to happen. Anything would be better than this suffocating silence, right?
Well, ask and you shall receive. As soon as those thoughts crossed Adrian’s mind, something unexpected happened.
When he turned right into a new passage, a subtle shift occurred in the atmosphere. This change was not noticed by him as he continued his seemingly leisurely walk.
A faint fragrance wafted through the passage as it began closing behind him. The rumbling sounds of stone walls moving together were somehow not noticed by Adrian.
As more and more of the fragrance filled the passage, a faint mist started to accumulate in the passage. The light in Adrian’s eyes began to dim as his steps became monotonous.
Faint runes flickered on the walls as the entire passage seemed to morph into a familiar scene. In his mind, Adrian had already returned to the time when he was in Thorne City, in the familiar house of Thorne.
Confusion filled his face as his sudden appearance in Thorne City greatly shocked him. He looked around to find himself in his old body, six months ago. His mind raced as he tried to figure out what was going on.
He could vaguely remember that he was somewhere completely different. As for where it was, he couldn’t remember. His mind was filled with fog anytime he tried to recollect something.
As he continued to struggle the remember anything, a sharp pain pierced through his mind, forcing him to cease all his attempts. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
"Ahhhh." He let out a low scream as he clutched his head in agony. The pain, as hurtful as it was, felt oddly familiar. As if it wasn’t his first time feeling such a sensation.
"Young master! Are you alright?" A concerned voice rang out beside him. He turned to his side to find a familiar face staring at him with concern etched across its features.
It was the servant who had followed him to the Misty Mountains the first time. Seeing this familiar face brought back a sense of longing and joy he didn’t expect to feel.
This was strange, as he had accompanied him for his training in the Misty Mountains for the past few months.
’The past few months?’ This question popped up in his mind yet again. He didn’t know why, but it seemed as if he was losing his grip on reality.
"Where am I?" He finally asked as he managed to calm down a bit.
The servant didn’t waste time and responded with respect.
"Young master, we have just arrived back to Thorne city. "
"Thorne City?" Adrian asked in confusion. He had already recognized the city but just wanted confirmation.
"Yes, young master. You decided to return after receiving a package from the patriarch." The servant elaborated further.
"It seems the stress of both the training and the journey has taken its toll on the young master. Do you perhaps want to rest before continuing the journey back to the House of Thorne?"
The servant asked tentatively. He had never seen his young master acting so abnormally before. He could only chalk it up to stress.
Hearing the words of the servant, Adrian immediately perked up. For some reason, he felt very anxious to return home.
"No, let’s go back immediately." His definitive response startled the servant a bit, but he politely nodded, and they continued their journey.
Adrian moved through the streets of Thorne City in haste, leaving the servant trying to catch up to him once again. His heart was beating rapidly, and sweat was dripping from his forehead.
’Why was he feeling so anxious?’ This was the question that lingered on his mind throughout his journey. He didn’t know why, but he felt like he had to get to his home as quickly as possible.
