The Top Omega Hunter Wants a Quiet Life [BL]-Chapter 114: Ch : Lynn’s invitation- Part 3
While Lynn and Kyle were getting ready to talk, there was another pair that was getting ready to do some work.
But unlike the first pair, this one was filled with complaints... or rather, a single person from the pair could not keep her mouth shut.
"Why do I have to do such menial work such as a waiter? Do I look like a waiter to you? I could be spending my time much better while in a dungeon. Why did Lynn ask this of me?"
Kesha complained as she grabbed another glass to take it back outside.
As soon as she left the threshold of the kitchen, her smile was back on her face and the person who received the glass from her thanked her.
She currently had an identity masking gear on so that her real self wouldn’t be known by people. She did not want rumors of her time working here to come out.
"Kesha, you are the one who agreed to this favor without even hearing what Lynn had to say. You have no one else to blame other than yourself. And because of you, I am stuck working here as well."
Rhiner reminded her as he walked past her with another tray.
Unlike Kesha, he was only here to keep an eye on things. But one thing led to another, and before he knew it, he was helping out as well.
Kesha pouted as soon as she heard his words.
She knew that he was right and most of what was happening was because she did not stop to think as she did what she wanted to. But this all was still not fair. She had expected Lynn to ask her to help out in a different way that would allow them to spend time together.
"Hey, are you both done talking? If you are, then hurry up and help around. Otherwise, we might not finish in time."
Both of their conversations came to a halt as Theo walked past them. The senior employee was handsome and huge, but he was also rigid.
He had a nice smile when he treated customers or talked with Emma and Ben. But he was rather cold toward Rhiner and Kesha.
And Kesha, who had liked his face enough to consider him as a decent match, suddenly had to rethink her decision.
"Tsk, what a waste of a good face. Anyway, we better hurry up before we get in trouble."
She told Rhiner, who just gave her an annoyed look. He could only curse the day he decided to take Kesha under his wing. But it was too late to regret anything anymore. All he could do now was keep an eye on her and make sure she did nothing to harm anyone.
__________
The alpha sitting in front of me looked flushed, and I gave Lynn more room by stepping back. Not that it seemed to help, because the alpha just took another sniff of my pheromones... or so it seemed.
I was not even aware that I was letting out pheromones, but it must be in response to the pheromone-filled air in the room. My body was reacting on its own at the moment.
"Ah, my apologies. I will pull my pheromones back and also open the window. You should also try to control yourself. You will start to feel better soon."
I told the alpha as I went toward the window to open it. But as soon as my hands touched the window, I felt a presence behind me.
Strong arms caged me among themselves, and an almost wet breath touched my neck. The alpha’s presence behind me felt too much.
"Can I... help you?"
I asked the alpha in a neutral tone. I had no intention of triggering any kind of response from Lynn. But he was in a condition where it seemed that he could lose control very easily.
The alpha did not do much. He just placed his forehead on my neck, and his arms went around my middle.
"No, it’s fine. Just allow me to stay like this for a while. I just... need to catch my breath, that’s all."
The alpha told me as he slowly calmed down. Whatever had taken over his body slowly left him, and he was able to breathe freely once more.
I allowed the alpha to stay like this for a while, not moving. Only once he had calmed down did I move and close the window.
By then, the alpha had come back to his senses as well and gave me a grateful look.
"I am... sorry for what happened. I had lost my reason all of a sudden and did not realize. Are you sure you are alright?"
The alpha told me with an almost shameful look on his face. But I pretended I did not notice that lapse in judgment on the alpha’s part.
"It’s fine. Things like these sometimes happen. You do not have to apologize. Do you need some more time to get yourself together?"
I asked the alpha while I took my seat opposite him.
The longing in those beautiful amber eyes in front of me increased once more before the alpha masked it with a cough.
"Anyway, we need to consider what we should do next. Do you want to visit the association right now? It would be wise for us to dig into the situation before people start to cover up what happened."
The alpha reminded me, finally recalling that there was a purpose to our visit. I also decided to think more seriously about this topic before I gave him an answer.
"So, you believe that this was not an accident but someone’s deliberate trick to get us all in trouble? I can see your point, and I have to say I agree as well. Let’s head out now. I will change into my Ace gear."
I told the alpha before I headed toward the bathroom. When I came out, the alpha looked tense and red-faced.
He refused to look at me properly, and I also decided to ignore him for the most part.
The alpha took a deep breath before he headed toward the door, and I followed. We got a lot of weird looks in the lobby, and people continued to gossip about us as we walked past them.
But we ignored it all as we reached Lynn’s car. He opened the seat for me to get in first before he got in on the other side, and we were finally off to the site of our troubles.
