"Excuse me, but can I get another cup of ramen? And send the pretty lady to hand it over as well."

Another customer made a passing remark on Kesha and she felt her temper rise as she was harassed by the customers.

Had she been her normal self and not in disguise, no one would have dared to even say a word to her. They were all too afraid of her.

But just because she was dressed as a servant, they thought they had a pass to call out to her and ask her to serve them?

"Hey waitress, did you not hear me? Get me some ramen."

The customer spoke again, this time, making his words a little slower as he spoke. Was he taking Kesha for a fool and doing this?

"It seems like someone has a death wish. I should grant his wish and end his life."

Kesha muttered under her breath as she held her fist up in annoyance. She was ready to kill the man in front of her.

But Rhiner stopped her before she could make that mistake and he pulled her rising wrist down.

"Don’t do anything dramatic, Kesha. Remember why you are here — because Lynn asked you to. Anything you do here will get back to his ears."

At that reminder, Kesha calmed down and frowned in frustration.

She understood what Rhiner was saying and his logical brain told her that he was right — she needed to back down now.

But the other part of her brain told her not to do that and to continue to push forward and show these customers why they should not mess with her.

"Tsk, if only Lynn had not asked me this favor—"

"Then you won’t be here, working. Now stop complaining. And also, stop trying to talk to Theo. He looks uncomfortable with your attention."

Rhiner reminded the beta female but she looked shocked at his words.

"Huh—! What the heck do you mean by that? Theo likes me just fine. Can’t you see that? And even if he does not, he might come to like me... not that I am going to accept him. The only one for me is Lynn."

The beta female sounded conflicted but confident as well.

Rhiner, who was a fellow alpha, could only shake his head.

He knew that Kesha did not mean anything bad by her intentions. But she was still a beta and misunderstood the alphas around her. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

The fact that she was unwilling to even hear against her ideals just made her more frustrating to talk to.

"Are you both done fighting? Then, can you help me out? We need to get more dishes out."

Theo came around just as Kesha was finished speaking and he looked worried. His complexion was also pale and somehow it made him look fragile.

He was taller and bulkier than Rhiner for sure, but something about Theo was almost delicate...

Not his scent though. It felt suffocating and made Rhiner uncomfortable and pay attention. Even Kesha paused what she was doing to pay the alpha her attention.

"Sorry about all this. We will go back to work now."

The fact that Kesha did not say anything and followed Rhiner’s lead told him that she was even aware of the danger at an unconscious level.

They quickly got back to work and Theo watched them leave.

He pretended to be alright on the outside, but on the inside he was not feeling that well. His other half was whispering to him non-stop, making sure Theo kept hearing him.

"Kyle is not here. Don’t you feel worried about him? At this rate, someone would end up stealing him away from you. Are you sure you want to risk it all?"

The voice asked and Theo did his best to ignore it. He knew that the second he gave any attention to that voice, he would end up losing his mind.

So he pretended as if everything was alright.

"Don’t you want to know what is going on with Kyle? I can help you out if you give me a chance to use my powers."

The voice told Theo and he gritted his teeth.

He wanted to use that power so badly that it hurt. He wanted to keep an eye on Kyle all the time and make sure Kyle was alright and also...

"You just want to know that no one else has Kyle while you are here, right? I understand you quite well. Your jealousy, your anger, and your ambitions — I know them all. After all, we share the same heart."

The voice told him and it sounded more and more personal by the second.

Theo felt himself blank for a second, and when he opened his eyes, he could see Kyle walking away from him with Lynn by his side.

Lynn had his arms around Kyle’s shoulder and Theo’s words sounded like nothing when he tried to call out to the omega.

Kyle did turn around, but his stare looked blank and that made Theo gasp out loud.

One second, he was looking at Theo and the next, he was back at the restaurant. The alpha shook his head to get rid of the thoughts in his head.

"Stop trying to influence me like that. I am not going to fall for your tricks. Just... leave me the fuck alone for now."

Theo whispered under his breath and he felt the world around him focus back into reality.

"You will come to me anyway, when you are no longer able to take it anymore. Until then, I am willing to wait around. Just make sure to treat Kyle with affection."

The voice spoke at last before it faded. But Theo could still feel the presence of that voice in the back of his mind.

’Don’t pay any attention to him. For now, just focus on working and getting things done.’

Unfortunately, that was easier said than done. The presence lived in the back of his mind, forever reminding Theo of its existence.

He was never going to be free of that voice at this rate.
