It was hard for me to focus on anything at the moment. My body was burning from the inside and I could tell that my heat was going to come strongly if I did not do anything.

A small part of my brain tried to speak up to tell me what was wrong with me, but a bigger part of my brain yelled at me to keep running and that now was not the time.

’What a hassle. What do I do now? I don’t think I would be able to defend myself in this state for long.’

I could feel my body shaking and my legs tried to hold my weight, but failed miserably. They were shaking so much that it was difficult for me to even keep myself afloat.

So I dragged my body toward a barely hidden alley and decided to wait my heat out there.

I had suppressants in my system, but I doubted that they would work at this point.

’W-Why did my heat come so suddenly? It’s not because of my cycle...’

I tried to recall what the reason could be? I had not eaten or drank anything suspicious, so why did my body feel like it was breaking apart? This heat did not feel natural.

As I shivered, Kuro decided to bring help. I could feel his energy approaching me.

He had two people with him, and my eyes immediately darted toward the man in the back. There was something familiar about his presence that attracted me. I felt like I knew that person.

Rhiner was there as well, but my brain barely registered his presence before it went past him and toward the man behind him.

’What...is going on here? That presence...feels familiar.’

I was sure my mouth was speaking, but my ears did not hear anything. I could neither make out what my mouth was saying, nor what the others were saying.

"-is not in a good shape. The heat cycle feels abnormal. I am going to knock him out-"

Someone talked about this and I felt my hand move to stop them. I did not want to get knocked out.

But the person through I was reaching out toward me and grabbed my extended hand with a calm expression on their face.

"Don’t worry. You will be fine. I will personally make sure you pass this hurdle." 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

The stranger told me but for some reason, I believed him. I had a feeling that everything would be fine if I were with this stranger.

And the more I felt like this, the more that fog on my brain lifted and I could think once more. I...somewhat knew this man. He was someone important to me...

’But where have I seen him before? Where...?’

I asked myself, but unfortunately, I had no answer to give myself. All I could think about was Theo as this man clutched my hand.

But that was an even a possibility.

’Is it because... I miss Theo? Even my body is longing for him. Tsk, I need to somehow get rid of my weakness at any cost...’

I told myself but one touch and I was gone. My eyes rolled into the back of my head and my body went lax.

A pair of arms closed around me and pulled me close to a chest. All I could make out was a pair of warm eyes, looking down at me from a handsome face.

"Don’t worry so much. This will pass soon."

The voice told me and it sounded so much like Theo’s that I had no choice but to trust it. I was willing to leave my body in a stranger’s hand. But this was a stranger that I felt like I could trust with my life.

Rhiner watched the exchange between his mysterious benefactor and Ace with a tense look on his face.

He kept waiting for Ace to reject his saviour so that he could swoop in and help Ace out.

But that never happened.

Instead of being pushed back, the stranger got invited even harder into Kyle’s personal space and a part of Rhiner burned with jealousy.

The alpha in him protested why it was not ’him’ that was in Ace’s embrace and why he was allowing an unworthy stranger to steal what was his.

Rhiner pushed these thoughts in the back of his mind as he focused on what was important in front of him.

"Let’s head to a safe place. Come, follow me."

The stranger who picked up Ace told Rhiner and Kuro. Rhiner instantly felt his instincts rise and he opened his mouth to say no.

But Kuro was much faster than him and stood up first.

"Yeah sure! Let’s head out now. Staying out here is not really safe, my lord. Not that we are ever in danger with you around."

Kuro quickly amended his words so that they won’t offend his lord. He was doing his best to keep the atmosphere calm.

"Hmm."

His lord did not bother to reply and started to walk.

As for Rhiner? He felt forced to follow the pair. He was worried about Ace and he was not about to leave the obviously suffering hunter with two complete strangers.

The ’Lord’ lead them out of the city and the limits stretched around him, almost as if the whole space was bending to his will.

"W-Who are you-? What kind of power-?"

Rhiner asked, only to be stopped when he heard a dozen or so footsteps heading their way. He looked at the city, expecting something or someone to emerge.

"Hmm, looks like the news of the new king’s location spread faster than expected. So, what are you going to do now? Are you going to protect us? Good luck."

The stranger told Rhiner and Rhiner felt his heart skip a beat in agitation.

"What are you saying? Are you not going to help me out?"

Rhiner asked but Kuro and the person holding Kyle just shrugged.

"I don’t think you would need my help. I can feel how powerful you are. Or, would you rather have me deal with this mess? I can erase this dungeon at will, I just won’t do it because that’s not what Kyle wants."

Rhiner flinched as soon as he heard those words. Erasing a dungeon would mean erasing people trapped in here as well.

That was the worst possible solution to this problem.
