The Top Omega Hunter Wants a Quiet Life [BL]-Chapter 162: Ch : A Story only I know- Part 3
Theo was placed in a cold room where the sun hardly shined. He was bound to the bed so that he wouldn’t be able to move.
"I am sorry, kid. Was this not for the betterment of the human race, I would have taken you out of here myself. Alas, we cannot do that for you."
The person helping Theo told him before he left him all alone.
’It’s safe to wake up now. There is no one around.’
The same voice that promised to help Theo out before told him, and he opened his eyes to look around his room. He could still not move around because he was bound, but the room did not look shabby.
It was all white and clean, not allowing a speck of dust to be seen in the whole place. It almost made the place look artificial, and Theo hated it.
But the young kid had more important things to worry about rather than his current environment. The more time that passed, the more he was aware of what was going on and what thoughts were.
As such, the first thing he wanted to ask the voice was why it was there and what it was.
’Who are you? Why did you help me? What do you gain from all this?’
Theo asked, and the voice fell quiet as it considered whether to answer Theo or not. In the end, it decided that answering Theo was in its best interest.
’I am you... well, it will be more accurate to say that you are a part of me that managed to break free. We are one and the same. Our existence and our connection make it so that we cannot live without each other. So don’t worry. In this world, I am the only one who will always be on your side.’
The voice told Theo with uttermost confidence, and he found himself believing that voice. He did not think that the voice was lying to him.
But still, it did not feel like it was telling the truth either.
There was... something that the voice was hiding from him.
’Alright... so where are we? This place... does not feel like home. Where is home? I want to return home.’
Theo asked in a curious voice. He had a feeling that the voice would know what that gaping hole in his chest was and where he needed to go in order to get rid of it.
However, instead of answering him, the voice went quiet at first.
’Home... huh? Well, even I don’t know where our home is. He... disappeared, and ever since then, I have been chasing our home as well. But don’t worry. I have a feeling we will be able to meet him soon.’
Those words encouraged Theo. He felt like he could do anything and wait as much as needed if he could find his "home" in the end.
Before he could celebrate this, the door to his room was opened, and the head scientist entered the room.
Slimy eyes looked down at him with interest and curiosity, and Theo had a feeling he was not going to like what happened next.
"So, you managed to survive, huh? Just looking at you makes me think you are special. As such, you will now be integrated into our program and molded as a weapon for humankind. You should be thankful that a monster like you will have such a high honor."
The scientist told Theo, and Theo found himself disliking this human.
Not only him but all the other humans in this facility as well. They were all selfish and cruel, caring for nothing but their end goal... whatever it was.
’Should I break free? Can we break out...?’
Theo asked, but the voice in his head had other plans.
’Not now. We need to wait around before we make a decision. I would advise you not to do anything foolish and fool these humans first. Only then will we be able to find what we need to.’
The voice told Theo, and he decided to accept that advice. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
That was how his new life began with these humans. His daily routine was quite simple—do as the scientists asked.
Since he was obedient, the scientists also decided that he was less of a threat for them and they could trust him. They started to give him small tasks and also teach him more.
He learned how to read, how to fight, and how to use his powers. He also learned how to craft a mask to hide his emotions and how to show that he was a clueless person.
The more time he spent with them, the more the voice in the back of his head faded and went into hiding with a promise to come back when he needed it.
And then he turned twelve and was given his first mission—to head to his very first dungeon where he would be able to showcase his abilities.
"Sir, are you sure you want to do this? It won’t be safe, and Theo has not mastered his abilities. What if something were to go wrong? This dungeon is too strong—"
"Don’t worry. The reason I chose this dungeon is simple—because Ace will be around as well. I am sure our dear experiment would be competitive to see Ace perform and try to outdo him. We need to take that chance."
The head scientist told everyone else, but they were not so sure. Their worries shined clearly on their faces as they looked at the young kid.
But Theo just blinked blankly at them. He did not know who this "Ace" was, but he wanted to know. His curiosity peaked.
"Fine. We will send Experiment 357 to the field, and if anything goes wrong, we can ask Ace to take care of it. But just know this—no one is happy about this."
One scientist spoke, and the head researcher scoffed.
"Of course not. We poured too much time and effort into this kid, and now it’s finally time to sow the reward."
