’I am...not going to give up...’
My body physically sagged under the pressure of the entity in front of me. I had never felt a pressure like this before.
Everyone in the dungeon tried to run toward the exit, but no one except us three made it out. The dungeon started to absorb them as nutrients for the high priest.
The more time that passed, the more powerful the high priest was getting.
"Tsk, we don’t have time to stand around. Kuro, Rhiner, get out of here and tell the hunters and our guild that a troublesome situation is about to rise. I will stay here and take care of it for now."
I told the two and Rhiner opened his mouth to protest. But surprisingly, it was Kuro that grabbed his shoulder to pull him out.
"Let’s go. The longer we stay here, the more we will trouble Kyle. I know you want to help, but the best way to do that would be for us to leave."
Kuro told Rhiner, but the alpha looked sad and tried to reach out to me.
I wanted to reach back as well, but now was not the time. So I just gave him a small smile that seemed to tell him everything.
"Alright, I understand. But this is not a goodbye, right? We will meet again."
Rhiner assured me before he stepped out of the dungeon with Kuro. Luckily, none of us had taken in the essence of this dungeon so it allowed us to enter and leave at our will.
But I was going to lock myself in here with the dungeon’s core anyway, and my familiars formed a net around me.
I no longer felt afraid of what would happen to me. The world fell silent around me and I finally stepped forward to my last stage for now.
The core pulsed as it took notice of it. It was trying to decide whether I was a friend or foe.
"What a pity. You feel so close and yet, so distant. I wish we could have been. Unfortunately, your fate is to be slain down by me right here and now."
I told the core, but I doubted it could understand me. And then, I walked toward the barrier that separated that core from the outside. It was finally time for me to step forward and take control.
As soon as my body passed the barrier, I shuddered. The world inside had changed as well. It was no longer the bustling town from before.
Instead, it was a flower field filled with a nice smell and calmness. Any sign of chaos outside had been eliminated.
"Where...am I?"
I asked as I looked around.
A sudden headache struck my head and I staggered as I tried to catch myself, but there was no support for my hand to land, causing me to almost fall.
However, before I could fall down, a pair of warm hands caught me and I looked up.
"Are you alright? You looked like you were about to have a nasty fall."
The alpha holding me asked and I blinked as I saw Theo’s face. He looked far too young and I felt so shocked that I was not able to move even a single bit.
"Let him go, brother. You do not want our omega to misunderstand, right? You are already on thin ice as it is."
Someone else spoke and the arms holding me up panicked before they let go. But not before helping me back on my feet. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"Shit-! You are right. I do not want our omega to mistake me for being unfaithful. Sorry mister, but you will have to balance your body on your own."
The alpha holding me told me as he helped me back to my feet. I blinked as I looked at the two people in front of me. They looked like twins, but their energy source felt the same.
Somehow, it reminded me of Theo and what he had told me about the ’other him.’
"Who are you both? What is this place? Was I not...inside a dungeon just now?"
I asked the pair as I stood on my own feet and looked around. The dungeon looked...different from the one I recalled in my memory. This one felt...more lonely and isolated.
The twins gave me a weird look as they heard my question. They exchanged a look with each other before their eyes turned suspicious.
"What do you mean where you are? Do you truly not know? Or...are you trying to fool us and gain our pity?"
The alpha closest to me asked in a suspicious voice. He seemed to have already flagged me as a problem in his mind, and I doubted anything would change his mind.
Somehow, these two reminded me so much of Theo that I felt my own guard coming down.
"I...truly do not know where I am. So if you both would help me out...?"
I asked the two and they exchanged a look with each other before they looked at me with suspicion.
"We can...help you out. But you will have to ask permission from the one who truly rules this place. If our omega accepts you, only then can we help you out as well."
The pair told me before they gestured for me to follow them.
They had not decided to help me outright, but this was not a rejection as well. Rather, it made me curious to see and know who their ’leader’ was. If I could get him to help, then it would be nice, right?
My silence was accepted as my agreement and the pair did not turn around to ask me any more questions. They did bind my hands so that I wouldn’t be able to use any ability and tugged me after them.
I followed without much fuss and that was how we ended up in front of a sealed door in the place.
One of the alphas knocked on the door and it silently opened to allow me inside.
