The Top Omega Hunter Wants a Quiet Life [BL]-Chapter 180: Ch : Coming Back- Part 6
"Physically speaking, you are in excellent condition. But the fact that you have no memory to speak of... hmm, that’s concerning. It’s wiped too cleanly. Must be the side effect of the dungeon."
The doctor looked at the patients that had recently come back, and they all felt grateful. But at the same time, they could not recall the dungeon or what happened there.
And it was not one or two patients that had lost their core memories of the past ten years, but nearly all of them were suffering the same.
I could not help but feel like things were not as simple as they seemed to be. But since we had no evidence of what happened, I could also only chalk it up to the dungeon causing this issue.
"Doctor, are you sure they are alright?"
Rhiner asked as he accompanied me to see these patients. He looked as worried as he sounded, and the doctor sighed while looking at Rhiner.
"Unfortunately, this is all I can do for these people. I am checking with my system, but their memory loss is natural and not anything I can cure. I apologize that I cannot be of more help."
The doctor told us, and he did sound sorry. Rhiner also felt bad for almost snapping at the doctor, and he was quick to apologize as well.
"No, I am sorry. I know that you are doing your best at the moment. I just... got a little ahead of myself here."
He told the doctor, and I decided to take a look around the room. There were almost a dozen hunters here, and this was only one of the four rooms that had people in recovery.
Over forty hunters and civilians had been rescued from the dungeon, but we did not have records of that many going missing. This likely meant that there were even more people to account for here than we thought.
Not to mention all those who perished before the dungeon was even discovered. It was a total mess.
"Ace, don’t take it too hard. We were able to save all these people, and that’s what matters. You don’t have to blame yourself for anything."
Rhiner told me, and I had no idea how he had guessed my feelings. But I quickly pretended that I was not affected by what happened.
"Don’t worry. I am not worried or anything. I should also... get going now. There is something I need to do."
Looking at all these people I had failed made me feel sad. So I quickly left the scene and headed toward the information center.
Since Hell’s Fire had such a casualty rate, I was sure that there were other dungeons that were the same as well—people waiting for me to come and save them.
I wanted to respond to those wishes and head toward those dungeons. And no, this had nothing to do with wanting to get lucky and finding Theo in one of these dungeons.
’Theo... I wonder what you are doing?’
I could not help but ask, even as I frowned just thinking about him. It was... tough for me to be able to control my feelings for him. Every time I tried, it seemed to overflow, causing me to feel pathetic.
And that made me want to work even more.
"Hello, miss, I wanted some information."
I told the receptionist, and she looked flustered when she suddenly saw me. Her eyes flickered with admiration, and she instantly opened her information terminal.
"O-Of course. Please let me know what I can do for you. Have I told you that I am a fan of yours? If it is not too much trouble, then can we have a photo together... no wait, are you busy?"
She asked in a hurried voice as she looked at me. She seemed concerned about what she should do and say to me.
I felt bad for the girl since she clearly seemed to be troubled and decided to give her what she wanted.
"Sure, you can have a picture taken with me."
I told her, and she quickly snapped a picture of us in the same frame with shaky hands before she clutched her phone as if it were her lifeline.
"Thank you. I shall cherish this until the day I die. Now, what information do you want from me?"
The female beta asked as she got ready to find whatever I asked her to. I had only one reason to come to her.
"I want you to compile a list of the most dangerous dungeons that are still open. It’s high time I go and deal with these places and make our world a safer place."
I told the female, and she just giggled.
"Of course. Just give me a second, and I will draw up the places for you... ah, here you go! Is there anything else I can help you with?"
The female asked as I clutched the list in my hand. I gave her a small smile that made her melt.
"No, that will be all. And if anyone comes to talk to me, please inform me as soon as possible. I do not want to keep anyone waiting for me."
I told the female, and she nodded.
"Inform you if anyone comes for you? Alright, got it. Please don’t worry. I will take care of it for you, Ace."
The female beta looked determined, and I just shook my head even more before I went back to my room.
I had a lot of information I needed to unpack. And then, I will start combing through these dungeons. Not only will I be able to help people, but I will hopefully also find Theo in one of these dungeons and bring him back.
’Just you wait for me, Theo. I do not care what delusion you have fallen into, but I will bring you back home, and then we can live a calm and peaceful life, just the two of us. That was all we ever wanted, right?’
