The Top Omega Hunter Wants a Quiet Life [BL]-Chapter 187: Ch : The Final Dungeon- Part 3
The gate opened slowly and welcomed me and everyone else inside. As soon as my feet touched the ground, the horrible feeling increased. Something was looking at us all and that something was powerful.
"Everyone, please be careful. I don’t think we are in a normal dungeon here."
I warned and everyone tensed. They looked at me for guidance but even I was not sure about what to do.
I was part of the second squad, so in principal I knew I should stay back and let the others do their job. But it felt nerve-wrecking not to walk forward and take the front row for the assault.
"We will be heading out now. We will give you a signal once we find something."
The front-row hunters quickly took off. Their abilities were suited to scout ahead and I decided to send my familiar with them as well.
Just because it had been decided that I would stay behind with the second ground did not mean I was ready to sit back and accept m fate.
I was using my powers openly, but no one said anything to me. In fact, the others turned a bind eye toward me, mainly because they knew they won’t be able to change their mind.
However, not everyone decided to leave me alone. I had closed my eyes to concentrate on my familiar but I opened them when I heard the sound of footsteps heading our way.
"Are you using your powers? You should not do that and wait for the scouts’ signal. Otherwise, you can put yourself in danger."
Lynn told me with a worried expression as he looked at me. He seemed genuinely worried for my sake and I felt both annoyed and touched by his words.
The two feelings fought inside me for dominance but in the end, annoyance won and I frowned at him.
"Are you trying to tell me how to do my work? Do you think you have a right to do that?"
I asked and my voice sounded just a lit snappy. That was enough to make most people back off. However, Lynn proved to be different.
He did not even flinch when I all but insulted him. Instead, he turned his head to look at my neck without even blinking. I could not guess what was going on in his mind, but I did know one thing—Lynn was serious about helping me out.
"I know that times are hard and you have lost a lot. But please, don’t try and take it out on yourself. You need to cherish ourself a little more. I..."
The alpha grabbed my hand and I did not pull my hand back. I wanted to know what Lynn had to say to me.
Everyone else was looking at us with curiosity and envy, wondering what was going on. I felt their sharp gazes stabbing me in the back.
The alpha in front of me must have felt the same glazes, but instead of looking insecure, he looked even more confident and his eyes shined.
"I know that I won’t be able to replace the one you long for, but I still want to be selfish and tell you Ace... no, Kyle. I like you... maybe even love you at this point. You have fascinated me beyond what I thought was possible. So please, once it’s all over, give me a chance to be by your side."
Lynn went down on his knee to tell me that. He looked directly into my eyes when he spoke, leaving no doubt in my mind that he was sincere about his words.
Even if I wanted to look away, his piercing gaze brought me back. His feelings were so evident that it was painfully clear how he felt about me.
I had a feeling that Lynn would have done anything I asked him in that moment if it meant that he would get a chance to be with me. It was flattering to be carted to like this.
And yet, I could not bring my heart to beat faster as it did around Theo. All this confession felt like a dream, but not a dream that made me want to stay in it.
Even now, all I could think about was Theo and how I wanted to be in his arms and experience it all with him.
I could imagine it even with open eyes—Theo standing in front of me with his soft smile on his face, asking me to stay by his side forever and him extending his hand and grabbing mine—
"Ace, are you alright? You zoned out and your energy... did someone use an ability on you?"
Lynn asked, reaching for my face. I gasped as I realized what had just happened—I had almost fallen for a trap and allowed the dungeon to mess with my mind. Lynn’s confession had thrown me off track.
"I-I am fine. I just let my guard down. This is the worst time to be having this conversation. How about we talk about it later?"
I asked Lynn and his face fell. I could tell that he had understood what I had not said to him—that he had been rejected by me.
But he did not show it on his face because he did not want to bring everyone’s moral down.
"You are right. We should talk about it once we get back home. For now, I will fight by your side like a good friend. Just, make sure you burry me and keep me close to your heart if I don’t make it out alive."
Lynn told me as he grinned once more. His carefree nature was one of the reasons the people in this camp were so relaxed.
"Don’t talk about dying. No one is dying on my watch. We will all get to go back home once this dungeon is deal with. I promise you that much." 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
I told Lynn but he just smiled in a way that told me that he was going to humor me but not believe me.
