The Top Omega Hunter Wants a Quiet Life [BL]-Chapter 195: Ch : The Sacrifice- Part 2
’This is your last chance to turn back. Have you not done enough for this world already? You do not need to sacrifice anymore.’
A voice told Kyle as he kept moving forward. That voice sounded suspiciously like Theo’s and Kyle let out a chuckle once he heard that.
"I know. I know that I do not need to sacrifice myself. But I want to sacrifice myself. I want to see myself making a difference in this world."
Kyle told the voice only to hear it sigh.
’You made...a choice in the past. It would be foolish of me to think that you would not choose the same choice this time, but that’s fine. Since you have made up your mind, let me take over from here.’
The voice told Kyle before he saw it manifesting in front of his eyes. The light converged into a single being and Kyle looked at the familiar being in front of him with wide eyes.
"You are...myself? But how...no, I think I know how."
He tried to put some pressure on his mind to recall what happened and finally realized who was in front of him.
It was the part he had sacrificed before. It seemed as if that part had not merged with himself and decided to lay dormant for some time.
And now that he needed it again, it had emerged out of him once more to make the same choice.
"Because we are both the same, I knew that you would understand my burden better than anyone else. Now, shall we finish this story?"
The being asked as he extended his hand toward Kyle. Kyle placed his own hand in that being formed of light before he felt that light disintegrate and get absorbed in the surroundings.
It calmed down the harsh vortex around him and slowly, the place around him started to take shape once more.
"Y-You-! What are you doing-! Kyle-!"
Outside the vortex, Theo did his best to try and break into this place. His desperate pleas reached Kyle’s ear but he pretended he was not able to hear it. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
"Kyle-! Don’t do that. Just stay put, and I will find a way to help you-!"
Theo slammed his shoulder into the try and force it to open, but it was of no use. He was not able to make much of a change in the scheme of things.
Kyle walked toward the barrier and placed his hand on it. Theo’s eyes widened as he saw Kyle and noticed that he was safe and sound.
"Kyle you-!"
"You do not have to be worried about me, Theo. Things are over now. Just close your eyes and it’ll all be over soon."
Kyle told Theo and Theo looked confused. But his body followed the command of his omega unconsciously and he closed his eyes.
There was a loud explosion around them as the vortex spun with the will of the part Kyle had left behind. He could feel everything changing for him and the people around him.
[Thank you for using the system. Unfortunately due to the sudden changes, it will no longer be possible for the system to serve you. The system wishes you the best of luck in the future.]
Both Theo and Kyle looked at that message and Theo looked a little shaken. He reached for the system screen as it faded...not only for him but for the others as well.
All around, the system’s light was disappearing slowly but surely. And without the system, the worlds that were once connected started to break apart.
"Looks like it’s time for humanity to return to normal. My alpha, shall we head back?"
Kyle asked, extending his hand toward Theo. But Theo looked shaken as he continued to look at the vortex with a complicated expression.
Kyle touched his arm to get him to move, but Theo just bit his lip and took one step toward the vortex before he took another and then another.
The alpha looked determined to get to the vortex and Kyle stopped him before he could do anything foolish.
"Theo, stop. Everything is over now. You do not have to go there-! Hey, I told you to stop."
Kyle grabbed Theo’s arm and he jerked to a stop. His eyes widened and he slapped his hand out of Kyle.
"Don’t touch me-! No wait, I am sorry. I did not mean to...I am just a little high-strung here so I apologize. But how can you be so calm? You just lost a part of yourself..."
"It’s fine. It was a part that I had not had with myself since forever. Now, let’s go back. What’s lost is lost."
Kyle told the alpha but Theo looked unwilling to leave Kyle’s part back. So Kyle decided to use the ultimate weapon he had.
"Fine, go and chase after that piece of mine. But I am not going to wait for you forever. I am sure I will be able to find an alpha to take care of me without you-"
"Don’t you dare do that, or else...fine, you win-! I will not go after your other part. But that does not mean I have given up on this either."
Theo told Kyle and Kyle just nodded with a smile.
"Of course. Now, shall we head back."
The omega extended his hand toward the alpha and Theo took it before he tugged them back.
The earth was slowly coming back along with the confused people. Kyle quickly walked over to them but Theo hesitated. But their clasped hands caused him to start moving as well.
"Kyle, I-"
"It’s fine. No one knows what you did and we will keep it that way. The less the people know, the better and so on."
Kyle told Theo as he dragged him toward the heart of the camp where the others were.
________
Everyone looked confused as they slowly regained consciousness.
The system had vanished from above their heads and the familiar icons they used to rely on were nowhere to be found.
People were touching trying to summon screens that would no longer come and muttering to themselves in growing panic.
"What is going on...? Why can’t I open my inventory...?"
"Is the system updating again? It never took this long before..."
"Hey, why do things feel different somehow?"
Voices rose around them and Kyle felt his chest tighten. He had expected this, but it was still difficult to look at the panic and uncertainty spreading through the crowd.
Theo beside him had lowered his gaze, as if afraid someone would look too closely at him and see the truth in his eyes.
"Just stay close to me. We can sort this out slowly."
Kyle whispered to him, tugging him forward before anyone could get too close.
Theo nodded, though his steps felt heavier than before. His grip around Kyle’s hand tightened with each person they passed as if he feared letting go would erase Kyle from existence again.
For someone who looked so composed most of the time, Theo was terrible at hiding how deeply shaken he really was.
As they reached the center of the camp, a few familiar faces rushed toward them. Their expressions were a mixture of relief and confusion.
"Ace! Are you alright? We couldn’t find you anywhere after that blast."
"Ace, something weird happened. The sky flashed and everything froze for a moment and now the system is gone."
Kyle nodded and kept his expression as neutral as possible.
"I know. I felt the same thing. But it looks like everything is stable for now, so let’s avoid panicking. Take a breath, calm everyone down, and gather the ones who are unhurt. We need to check if anyone needs help."
His voice carried smoothly, and people instinctively responded to it. Theo watched him quietly, his eyes filled with something warm and painful at the same time.
Kyle turned toward a few who were still trembling and placed a hand on their shoulder.
"It’s going to be fine. The world isn’t ending. We just need to adjust."
Even as he spoke those words, parts of his chest still ached from the hollow space the missing part of him left behind.
The pain wasn’t unbearable, but it was unmistakable—like a phantom limb reminding him of something that should be there but wasn’t.
Theo noticed. Of course he did. He always did.
As Kyle turned his head, he caught Theo looking at him with an expression so raw that Kyle felt his breath stop for a second.
"Don’t make that face. I am fine."
Kyle whispered, nudging him lightly.
"You’re not..."
Theo whispered back sharply.
Kyle sighed but didn’t argue. Instead, he squeezed Theo’s hand once and let go briefly so he could help someone stand up.
Theo’s eyes followed the movement sharply, as if memorizing the moment he lost contact, before he forced himself to breathe normally again.
Around them, the world continued to settle. The crackling remnants of the system’s dissolution faded into the sky like dust.
The environment stabilized, though cracks of unfamiliarity still lingered in the air.
