The Trending Topic Herself: The Villainess is the Superstar!-Chapter 199: Can’t Help It, My Charm Is Just Too Great
Julian Caldwell gave a slight bow, a smile on his face, though his hands were nervously intertwined.
"Maya Monroe, I’m really glad to meet you. Ever since the last variety show, I’ve been looking forward to the chance to collaborate with you again."
Maya Monroe’s eyes revealed a hint of confusion. "Why are you here?"
"Well..." Julian’s face was flushed. His gentle features always gave off a vibe of warmth, like a gentle breeze rippling across a shallow pond.
"I’m auditioning for a role in ’Mirror’ at another location. I happened to pass by and saw Maya Monroe, so I decided to come over and pay my respects."
What kind of coincidence would bring him from one location to this one?
Looking at Julian’s bashful face, Maya suddenly remembered him claiming to be her little fanboy once.
Little fanboy?
"Really? That’s quite a coincidence." Maya couldn’t help but laugh.
She didn’t expect someone as infamous as herself to have a little fanboy. It seemed this kid’s taste was quite unique.
Seeing Maya’s smile, Julian’s face reddened even more.
He knew he’d made up a ridiculous lie, but if he directly told his idol he only entered the industry to follow in her footsteps, and after some digging found her precise location, wouldn’t that be too abrupt?
Julian tried to act as naturally as possible. Stars like them usually disliked overly fanatical prying behaviors; he didn’t want to leave a bad impression on Maya.
"I think it’s a coincidence as well. I hope to get a role, and then be in the same crew as Maya Monroe... to learn more about acting, since I have so much to improve on."
His eyes were sincere and earnest, without a hint of deceit. Maya squinted, "You’re so sure I can get a role?"
Her voice was filled with interest.
"Of course!" Julian was brimming with confidence: "Goddess, you succeed in everything you do. Your acting is so great, you’re bound to nail the audition!"
Maya chuckled again. Honestly, it felt nice to be trusted, though she figured Julian’s expectations might be disappointed.
"I didn’t expect you’d trust me so much."
Ryan Spencer saw Julian standing there, obediently listening to Maya, with a bit of adorable silliness. He couldn’t help but say, "Julian, have a seat."
Scott very considerately made way.
Julian hesitated to take someone else’s seat, especially with his audition time approaching...
Just then, his phone suddenly rang.
Julian blushed, "Sorry, I need to take this call."
He turned slightly, covering the phone’s volume as he answered.
On the other end came Claire Brooks’s anxious voice, "Julian, where did you go? Why did the venue’s manager say you disappeared after going to the restroom?! Your number is up, hurry back for the audition. First impressions matter, don’t leave a bad impression on the director and producers!"
"This audition was your opportunity. Julian, as I’ve always said, since you aimed for it, you need to do your best!"
Julian furrowed his brows; he didn’t expect his audition time to come up so soon.
Claire’s words echoed in his mind: First impressions matter.
Not just the first impression... Every impression is very important.
"Alright, I’m heading over now. Thank you, Claire."
To avoid more questions from Claire, Julian quickly hung up after saying this.
Maya was still leisurely eating fruit and suddenly said to Scott, "Today’s fruit isn’t too fresh. Remember to choose them the way I taught next time."
Scott nodded repeatedly.
In terms of selecting snacks and fruit, Maya was an expert’s expert. Regardless of the food, she could quickly explain how to distinguish its quality.
Ryan, observant and understanding, almost always read people’s thoughts just from their expressions. Seeing Julian’s flustered yet hesitant look, he could almost guess what had happened.
"Julian, is it time for your audition? If so, you should hurry."
Julian was a bit startled by this. He remembered Claire mentioning Ryan as highly observant and socially adept.
"Yes..." He nodded slightly but didn’t hurry to leave. Instead, he quickly stepped towards Maya, squatting to meet her eye level.
His Adam’s apple bobbed slightly, revealing a bit of nervousness.
"Maya Monroe, I’m actually here for another thing..."
Seeing his hesitant expression, Maya guessed his request might be quite difficult.
Maya unconsciously pulled her fruit plate closer.
"Go ahead."
As long as it wasn’t for her food, everything else was negotiable.
"Last time was too rushed, so it’s been delayed until now. I... I want to..."
For some reason, Maya broke into a sweat with Julian, primarily because Julian’s expression was agonizingly conflicted, like facing a formidable enemy.
"You... want what?"
"If possible, may I have your... contact information?"
When he finally asked that last question, Maya let out a deep breath. She had thought it was something colossal, only to find it was just about getting contact details...
"I thought it was something else, of course."
Giving contact info didn’t cost her anything, so Maya agreed without hesitation.
Julian’s eyes sparkled like the stars in the sky: "Thank you, Maya!"
Maya took Julian’s phone, pressed some buttons, and handed it back to him.
"Here."
Seeing Julian’s immensely joyful expression, Maya couldn’t help but reflect: had she appeared too unapproachable, making Julian so nervous about asking for a contact? 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
Soon, Maya dismissed the thought — she was a villain after all!
After getting the contact information, Julian left, elated and satisfied.
Ryan watched Julian’s departing figure and sighed inexplicably, "Didn’t expect you to have a fanboy. That kid is usually quiet yet came all this way to say so much this time..."
Maya softly laughed, eyes on the strawberry she held: "What can I say, I’ve just got too much charm..."
