Chapter 23: Chapter 23: Acting Skills Soaring

The remaining scenes were just as easy for Maya Monroe.

She rolled down the earthy mound in one take, not paying much mind to the slight pain in her waist, as she had endured far worse hardships before.

"That’s a wrap!"

After getting up from the ground, Maya Monroe patted the dust off her body.

Several assistants came over, ready to support her, their expressions anxious, as if afraid Maya Monroe would lash out at them if she got hurt from the fall.

After all, such situations were typical for Maya Monroe; born with a silver spoon, she was raised as the cherished darling of her family, never having suffered any hardship. She would vent her frustrations on those around her, sometimes even kicking them to the ground.

Maya Monroe never considered others’ feelings; she only cared if she was happy.

Seeing the assistants trembling with fear, Maya Monroe, despite not understanding, waved them off.

"No need to help, I’m not hurt."

Shane Morgan praised her out of routine, "Monroe, your performance was as dynamic as always!" 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

Maya Monroe nodded lazily, "I’m done for the day, Director Morgan, I’ll go handle my own stuff now."

She had heard plenty of Shane Morgan’s praises recently, but she didn’t take them to heart, thinking he would definitely favor Kiki Monroe’s performance after she left, praising it to the heavens!

Maya Monroe watched the increasing level of the dramatic quality indicator without feeling there was any issue with her current approach and methods.

This time, the growth rate was faster than before.

What does this mean? It means her performance in this task world was better than the previous ones.

People do improve, after all.

Shane Morgan nodded with a smile, "Go ahead and take care of your stuff."

Madeline Underwood showed some confusion in her expression, "Why is she in such a hurry to change clothes? What’s the rush? Could she be contacting a sugar daddy?"

After watching Maya Monroe’s performance, Madeline Underwood felt quite off.

How did Maya Monroe’s acting get so good!?

A myriad of questions flooded her mind.

Kiki didn’t answer, so Madeline Underwood endured her impatience and asked again, but still received no response from Kiki.

Unable to hold back, Madeline Underwood nudged Kiki, "Kiki..."

Her voice already had a hint of impatience.

Kiki snapped out of it, apologetically saying, "Huh? Sister Underwood, sorry, I was distracted. Didn’t expect my sister to act so well..."

Something flickered in Madeline Underwood’s eyes, "Her acting is like she’s a different person, but her personality hasn’t changed a bit, flaunting like a peacock. I really don’t know what she’s done..."

Madeline Underwood’s eyes filled with contemplation, "What exactly did she do to become so impressive..."

"Oh, that..." Kiki said, "It might be Leo Lancaster teaching her in private. I heard they study scripts together late into the night. My sister has been working hard recently, several times she couldn’t get up from memorizing scripts."

Madeline Underwood’s eyes held complex emotions, "Taught by Leo Lancaster? Wasn’t she always uninterested in such dull stuff? How did she suddenly grasp it?"

Kiki shook her head.

Madeline Underwood asked her again, "Why did Maya Monroe hurriedly change clothes, could it be to memorize scripts again?"

"Probably not, at this time she should be rushing to eat."

"To eat?" Madeline Underwood checked the time, "It’s not meal time yet, is it?"

Kiki nodded seriously, "Every time after filming, my sister goes to eat. It takes quite some time each time."

Madeline Underwood furrowed her brows.

The current Maya Monroe seemed very different from the image she had.

What’s more, since when is Maya Monroe this passionate about eating? She had seen Maya Monroe munching on a big bag of chips like a squirrel during her downtime in the morning.

Wasn’t Maya Monroe the one who detested junk food the most? She was more meticulous about her figure than anyone else.

Madeline Underwood found herself increasingly unable to understand Maya Monroe.

"Leo, it’s truly a rare fortune for me to work with you. It’s really one of the luckier things recently."

Madeline Underwood spoke with a smile.

The entertainment world isn’t all that big or small, and naturally, those with bigger statuses have some rapport, exchanging pleasantries whenever they meet is quite normal.

Of course, her status wasn’t as high as Leo Lancaster’s, since she hadn’t won Best Actress, and her fan base wasn’t as vast and daunting as his.

Leo Lancaster smiled faintly, exuding a gentle and refined demeanor.

"It’s equally an honor for me to work with you; no need to frequently mention the title of Best Actor, just call me Leo Lancaster."

Madeline Underwood shook her head though, "I’m not accustomed to anything else, so let’s stick with Best Actor Lancaster."

Leo Lancaster’s smile remained unchanged, "As you wish."

His gaze lingered for a second on Kiki beside Madeline Underwood, his voice devoid of discernible emotion, "Didn’t expect you two to hit it off so quickly."

Seeing his glance, Kiki slightly lowered her head in embarrassment.

Madeline Underwood spoke, "I see that Kiki is diligent and thoughtful, it’s hard not to like her. A girl like Kiki, who wouldn’t like her, right?"

Said as unintended, but taken seriously by the listener, Kiki instinctively clenched her hand.

Leo Lancaster gave an ambiguous smile, remaining silent.

Madeline Underwood assumed he agreed.

"I consider Kiki like my own sister, but since I won’t be around for many days, make sure to look after her well, especially avoiding unreasonable people like Maya Monroe."

With her mentioning Maya Monroe this way, Leo Lancaster’s expression turned cold, and the smile usually at the corner of his lips disappeared.

"If you say that, I can’t listen anymore, Maya Monroe isn’t unreasonable."

Madeline Underwood hadn’t expected Leo Lancaster to seriously refute her; she recalled rumors in the industry of Leo Lancaster and Maya Monroe growing up together.

Truly fortunate, this Maya Monroe.

Madeline Underwood smiled again, "Just kidding, everyone, don’t take it seriously."

"Of course."

Yet his attitude had cooled towards her.

Leo Lancaster then noticed Maya Monroe, who was leisurely approaching from a distance; his heart stirred and he simply smiled at Kiki and Madeline Underwood, "I have something to attend to over here, don’t let me interrupt your chat."

Kiki quickly said, "Leo, go ahead and handle your affairs, if there’s anything we can help with..."

She didn’t finish before seeing Leo Lancaster heading towards Maya Monroe.

Kiki froze for a few seconds.

Madeline Underwood, beside her, spoke indeterminately, "Isn’t it strange? Maya Monroe is clearly just a pretty but useless vase, yet so many opportunities and people come her way? Is it simply because she’s beautiful?"

Kiki said nothing, quietly tightening her grip on her hand.
