Chapter 601: Chapter 601

"Great! Tell me what happened between Taylor and my brother so I can help mend their relationship," Joanna said happily.

Ace raised an eyebrow. "No."

Joanna blinked at him, dumbfounded.

A slow smirk curved his lips. "I know what happened, but why should I tell you?"

"You..." Joanna was about to curse him, but stopped herself. Gritting her teeth, she forced a smile onto her face and said sweetly, "Mr. Moran, Master Moran, Ace... please tell me. You know how important this is to me. Just do something good and help a girl out, okay?"

Ace replied with a shrug, "I’m sorry, I don’t feel like doing something good."

"What?"

"I said... I won’t do it."

Joanna’s eye started to twitch. Was this man trying to be funny? "I appreciate your efforts in trying to make a joke, but please don’t do it ever again."

Ace stared closely at her and smirked. "Maybe you have something you can offer me instead."

Joanna’s eyes widened slightly. "Are you kidding me right now? Don’t you have any

empathy? If we resolve the grudge between my brother, you, and Taylor, wouldn’t it be good for all of us? Our families could finally work together! Why don’t you want to tell me what happened?"

"The foundation of cooperation is compatibility, so you have to make me happy before we cooperate. Once I’m happy, I’ll tell you everything," Ace said meaningfully.

"You’re ridiculous!" She clenched her fists, controlling her urge to hit him. She knew that cunning fox of a man was trying to trap her, but she was left with no other options.

She could only willingly walk into his trap, and that infuriated her. "What is it you want from me?"

"I told you... You’ve got to make me happy." Ace’s eyes gleamed victoriously.

"That same old story..." Joanna growled.

"Let me think... I’m hungry now. Eat with me."

"No, I don’t..." Joanna was about to refuse, but paused. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

Narrowing her eyes, she forced herself to say, "Sure. Master Moran, what would you like to eat? I’d love to accompany you.

I guarantee that you’ll have a great meal."

Ace was amused by the glare she was giving him, and said solemnly, "I would like to have Western food today."

"Sure, let’s go. I’ll even pour your wine for you and cut up your steak for you," Joanna

muttered furiously under her breath and bowed sarcastically.

Ace rolled his eyes and walked past her, looking very proud of himself.

They had just stepped out of the elevator when they saw someone walking towards them-it was none other than Seraphina, Ace’s fiancee.

Ace’s expression changed slightly, and Joanna couldn’t tell if he was happy or upset.

Joanna subconsciously stepped away from him, feeling like a homewrecker that had been caught in the act.

"Ace!" Seraphina threw her arms around his neck and hugged him, then kissed him

deeply. "I finally found you! Do you know how much I’ve suffered? They nearly caught me and got me into telecom fraud!"

Ace knitted his brows and carefully put Seraphina’s hands down, then said lightly, "Didn’t I ask you to wait for me at home? Why did you come here?’

"I was worried about you, so I pestered Mr. Young to tell me where you are. After that, I took the earliest flight to come see you." Seraphina clung to Ace intimately.

"That blabbermouth had one job..." Ace’s handsome face was filled with fury, and his gaze was frighteningly cold. The reason he didn’t want Seraphina here was because a dangerous place like this was unsuited for a naive young lady like her.

"Ace, you look unhappy. Didn’t you miss me?" Seraphina pouted.

"I’m happy you’re here, but you shouldn’t have come."

"Why not? This is a well-known tourist spot, so I came to visit. Do you really think they’d kidnap me and sell me?"

"You have no idea what the people here would do to you, especially since you came alone. You’re lucky nothing happened to you, or else, I’d feel guilty for the rest of my life." Ace reached out and gently touched Seraphina’s face. "You’re my fiancee. Don’t make me worry about you."

"Don’t worry, I’m the lady of the Murphy family, so no one would dare to touch me. See! I’m fine." Seraphina batted her eyelashes at him coquettishly and twirled around. Then, she looked at Joanna and flashed her a fake smile. "Miss Pierce came here alone too. She’s fearless even though her family is so poor and shabby. She’s safe, so what should I be afraid of?"

Joanna was speechless. She sneered, "Thank you for your concern, but I’m only safe because I’m lucky. My friend nearly lost her kidneys, Miss Murphy, so don’t let your guard down. Who knows... You might wake up with no organs."

Seraphina’s face turned livid before she gritted her teeth and said, "Miss Pierce, are you worried about me or are you cursing me? I have the Murphy family to back me up as well as Ace’s protection, so I’m very safe. I suggest you mind your own business."

Joanna spread her hands and said indifferently, "I was just trying to be nice ... Well, forget it. Do whatever you want!"

Seraphina ignored Joanna and turned to Ace. ’Ace, aren’t you here for work? Why are you with Miss Pierce? And why are you in the hospital?"

"An old friend of mine encountered some trouble, so I came to help," Ace said vaguely.

"An old friend?" Seraphina hurriedly asked, "What kind of old friend? Why is your friend here? Do I know your friend?"

"No, you don’t, so you don’t have to ask." He quickly ended the discussion. He didn’t want to expose too many things to her.

He knew that this kind of mentality was wrong. After all, Seraphina was his fiancee and future wife. Logically, he should talk to her about anything that happened in his life.

Unfortunately, he didn’t feel like he wanted to. He had no memory of Joanna, and there was resentment between them, but for some reason, he wanted to talk to her and tell her everything.
